Your happiness is so infectious ! It is so nice to see someone who doesn’t complain all the time about Disney….it makes me so excited to go to Disney and share your joy 😊
David, I completely agree that having the train running truly does make a big difference as far as the overall feel of the park. I was there Friday afternoon and SO happy to be back on the train. I heard one engineer say they were very close to only being able to run two trains, but eventually did go to three, as you mentioned. Not sure what the issue was that almost made it two for the day.
My favorite part of these weekly updates has to be listening to David struggling to rectify the developing Haunted Mansion queue with the concept art. He tries so hard. It’s downright inspiring.
Nice energy, felt Disney is as usual awesome,Fresh baked thank you,had such a crappy day, after seeing this big thumbs up from me and my partner, living in England we are,and visiting Disney on 8th November..... thanks for your tips on the park...
Hopefully it's a 'wet' winter so all the new plants and trees (as well as the rest of the greenery) can get a good 'soaking'. Imo Tiana's is a great ride...as the years go by it will acquire the same passion and affection as Splash did for the earlier generations. When 'everything' is done from Pirates to Hungry Bear (hopefully that includes TS's island & the 'burned' building)...that part of the park will be spectacular. Now if the 'attention' and $ can focus on Tomorrowland.
As we went onto the trestle and the full view of Rivers Of America came into view I became all verklempt! Overjoyed! Dang it, I love Disneyland! Thank you so much for sharing this FreshBaked! And wow have Disney done a spanking great job sprucing everything up! All fears assuaged!
So, so happy that the railroad is back! We are going to be at the park next week and this is one of the things I was so hoping would be operational. David, thanks for this video! You mentioned during the live stream that your intel thought it would be open and it was right. Btw, I totally match your enthusiasm! 🎉
I have soooooo many fond memories of family trips to Disneyland and we always went to Hungry Bear at least once. Loved being able to sit by the water before the refurb and chill out, absorbing the Disney. 💜💜
@@MArStor IM SO HAPPPY YOU ASKED!!! It is The Frontierland Shipping Office, it is across from ThunderMountain, next too boarding on the MArk Twain. It is remenistic before Starwars expansion when you could eat at Hungry Bear along the River edge. Cool Place.
Been around since the beginning-you guys showed us the secret path and now we’ve made it part of our trip every time we go. It’s such a special and quiet part of the park!
It was great seeing you today 10/28 as we were riding the fire truck. Went to the soft opening to Hungry Bear on Thursday and loved the meat platter with the slaw and beans. Followed your standby tricks during our trip but did LL on Saturday. Thanks again for all you do for us muffins.
Heading to Disneyland with my toddler tomorrow! He wants to meet Mickey and do the slides in Toontown lol. Hopefully we can ride the train once around and have a nice relaxing time :)
I loved this update and the POV train ride video on your other channel. I was just surprised they didn't update the reference to the term "Indian". At least in Canada where I am, it's a big no-no. Excited to visit DL starting Nov. 9!
David you have to watch Wdwnt today. He reported the Spider-Man Stanton’s is going away due to budget cuts. Also the train will have 3 more 3 month track refurbs over the next 2 years. He had some good insight.
I agree with your take on Tiana's. The ride and most of the scenes look great, except the shrunken frog/Laughing Place room. It's so flat and the reliance on screens is rough. There's always going to be a back up before the drop (because the logs have to wait to ascend) , and I was already bored of the firefly/Odie screens after 2 rides on it. Also, the laughing place/burrow's lament scene had about 20 audio animatronics, and it got downgraded to 4 very simple animatronics and 5 screens. That scene is a HUGE miss and it brings down the ride with it.
i think even if they just brought back the water jets they used to have in the laughing place and the raining mushrooms itd add a lot of needed energy to the scenes
The attraction was inspired more by politics, not creativity. The irony is Tiana's incorporates a setting of slavery (ie, a Louisiana salt mine) & presents quasi-black accent-dialect patterns (See: Character of "Mammy" in Gone with the Wind).
There was no view into Tiana's Bayou Adventure from the Railroad during the previews yesterday. I wouldn’t expect the doors to be up until the official opening on 11/15.
My family and I went to Hungry Bear last night and we were surprised on how good the food was. We had the pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, loaded fries, and banana pudding. The only critque I have is the meat wasn't hot.
My fave part of the train spiel is long gone: “the smoking lamp is out”. ;(. It motivated me to look up the smoking lamp history and meaning. Lovely to see the train rolling into the station though.
Hi Dave, I am visiting Disneyland from 15th Sept to 27th Sept 2025 from Australia - do you think that Small World will close before than or after the end of September? I would hate to to miss it - it’s almost a right of passage for us (as is The Enchanted Tiki Room) on every visit 😊
Since Small World is down for repairs or what ever are they going to switch it over to the Christmas theme while it is down at the moment........much like they did with Haunted Mansion and the Halloween Theme.
We walked by the new haunted mansion gift shop at 10 pm Friday evening and there were workers still working. They may be getting even closer to opening than we thought.
Still holding out hope that someday they'll build a small stage on that upper level dining area for a certain collection of furry friends to make a comeback and perform some of their greatest hits. What I wouldn't give to chow down on some BBQ and watch a rendition of TEARS WILL BE A CHASER FOR MY WINE or ALL THe GUYS THAT TURN ME ON TURN ME DOWN.
@@igetnoslep wouldn’t that be something? Remember the country bear attraction from back in 1969 (my first visit to Disneyland) and loved it - always had a soft spot for Big Al 🤣
Well it was exciting update until you mentioned the refurb dates. I can’t believe BTM is closed starting the 18th. Dave, can you confirm?? We will be there for Thanksgiving and am really bummed in Big Thunder is closed. Why would they close it during the start of the holidays? It is my favorite ride.
What about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad? The refurb calendar, which as of today goes to December 9th, shows Big Thunder is closed with no opening insight. Closed for Halloween and Christmas... What is up with that?
@@WindowtotheMagic But how would VQ work with Single Rider? Seperate VQ for single riders, or do single riders not need a VQ? Do single riders need the same vq and split into a separate line? We know they're doing single rider, it has its' own dedicated line and sign, so I'm not sure how those would work together
The splotches on Marceline's are just the masking for the trim around the windows, and they sprayed paint to clear their spray tip on the pump. Nothing fun unfortunately.
who does the Train voice as you travel around.......when you hear the Tiana's Bayou Adventure Announcement it matches the other stuff..so who did the update.............I remember when the train came into the Stations.....you would Hear Thurl Ravencroft's voice doing the announcement. he did many voices at the park.
I’m going to say that they never run more than 3, simply because they only have 4 stations. If they run 4 trains, they would all need to move in synchronous fashion, otherwise they would collide.
Tianas is sooooo much prettier than splash ever was, splash in my mind was always a giant, bland, eyesore. Splash was literally just 100 different shades of brown
I hear your praise for Hungry Bear, and I agree it's long been a special place -- and the new food looks outstanding. However, from what I have seen, I am very disappointed with the level of theming -- or lack thereof. There are three thematic dimensions they had to take inspiration from, "bayou," "country bears," and "jamboree." I do not see anything evoking bayou at all -- no placemaking, props, story-telling, or cues as to the geographic setting of a bayou. Examples could include boats, crab traps, barrels, nets, crates, moss and other foliage. Now I know they went with a BBQ cuisine instead of Cajun (which I question, thematically) but there still could be thematic details specific to the bayou or the south. Second is "country bears." Yes, there are posters of the bears, and the swing. But this is the absolute minimum they could do -- it's a few thousand dollars of effort. Imagine if they had themed this location as if it really was the home-base of the Country Bears and it was filled with props and memorabilia of the bears and their musical history: photos of them on tour around the country, awards, concert posters, flags, hubcaps, newspaper articles, souvenirs, their suitcases and instrument cases. Imagine something like the detail-filled Restaurantosaurus at Animal Kingdom or the memorabilia in the queue of Tiana's Bayou Adventure...lots of rich story-telling so you discover more every time you visit and sit in a different spot. It's common in roadside restaurants and bars in the south for them to be filled with artifacts and paraphernalia collected over years...this place could have had that, and exuded not just the Country Bears lore but the feeling of dining along a river in the south. Lastly, they included the word "jamboree" in the name. I know they put some red-white-and-blue bunting up, but again, that's a thousand dollars of effort. The place does not seem celebratory, like a festival is going on. Rather, it has a sleepy, low-key vibe. Why call it a jamboree then? The sign that welcomes you to the restaurant could have bunting or pennants or something festive to support the name and premise. The theming at Hungry Bear was the absolute minimum effort -- some character posters and some bunting. Disney can and should do better -- as seen in their fantastic work in Ray's Berets.
I’m guessing that you would prefer if they had stuck with the rich theming of Hungry Bear, and not taken all of it away to replace it with the new version?
@@WindowtotheMagic Well, as I said, Hungry Bear has always been a special place. But the specialness had to do with its remoteness...back when Bear Country was a dead end. To sit out there at the very edge of the park offered a quiet serenity unique from the rest of the park, with a cool view of the river. But aesthetically, it has always been a bit "bare" (and not very "bear"). Decades later, the place is now a landmark along the busy walkway to Galaxy's Edge and not a remote respite. It can't lean on that uniqueness any more. And it's now adjacent to a newly themed attraction -- Tiana's -- and the only restaurant in a newly named/themed land -- Bayou Country. But you wouldn't know it from the multi-month "rehab" they did. rather, i was hardly touched. No, I don't want them to strip the posters and bunting down and return it to what it was (a task that would take an hour). I do want them to dig in and apply some creativity, story-telling, and a few hundred thousand dollars for the decor and props needed to deliver on bayou/country bears/jamboree.
I cannot stand the new audio for the train lol I don’t feel like he has as much personality in his voice as the last recording. Feels more like a news anchor talking to me. The voice before made it feel like there was some old timer on the train telling you about what’s what around the park, I miss that so much.
I think the new "this is my favorite part of the journey" is much worse now. The new voice inflection and his tone is odd sounding. It used to sound more..."happy" and natural.
@@FreshBakedDisney interesting to hear you say that, because I thought you said in the video that you liked the new version better. Or maybe I didn’t hear you correctly.
