I'm French, and the first time I went to Disney World, I was like "wow, people respect the rules ! nobody smokes, nobody behind the fences... that's amazing" XD ... I'm fed up to see people not respecting the main rules of manners in Disney Paris.

That statement at the beginning about Club 33- so arrogant. You don't have to name drop to prove your point that you know Disney, and you definitely shouldn't alienate your viewers by saying they will probably never step foot in there. That being said, I've never been to Disneyland Anaheim but I've been to most of the other parks around the world (just missing Shanghai) and Paris is such a nice experience. We've been there multiple times and can't get enough of it. Cast members will make the experience magical if you are into it, but you do have to show enthusiasm to the cast members in order to have that magical experience. Leave the attitude at home and just have fun. If you go back, or go to another international park, I hope that you can appreciate it for what it is and revel in what makes that park special- don't just compare it to your "home" park- you will only come away disappointed. The point of going to an international park is to appreciate the different culture behind it, and to experience the magic around the world.

I love the Paris version, but I think the reason the US parks seem so much more magical is that the culture is different in the US compared to Europe, and France in particular. In France people will be friendly and polite, but America has the whole big smiley HAVE A NICE DAY type thing going on, which although is a bit more false, puts you more into the magic space. I'd like to think Paris is getting better at it, but I agree it needs a push. As for the Parks, although the US parks feel bigger, Paris feels more spacious and more detailed and 'pretty'

If you're in Europe and want that "magic experience" skip Paris and go to the Efteling in the Netherlands. It's like Disneyland, but they create their own stories based on fairy tales and folk stories, the artistry is superb, the rides are great, and the food won gastronomy prizes it's that good. I also worked there for a while, so I know just how much the "magic moments" thing gets drilled into the staff. (And I was just a waitress!) That and the trash bins talk.

Half the park does not smell like smoke, that's a bit of an exaggeration, there are certainly some parts of the park where it smells of smoke, especially outside the popular shops. The reason they don't tend to do puns like "go to the dead center of the room" is because of the clear language barrier, however, I've personally had a lot of great moments with cast members, I think this is very similar to the Californian Disney, as not everyone there makes puns as well. The person talking over the intercom; that's usually because someone is recording, a classic "No cameras, no videos"
@adamtalhimet
@adamtalhimet 6 лет назад
Everything you pointed out that was bad about the park, is just the European way of living. In Europe we don't like to be treated the way Americans do, a bit more enthousiastic than some of the castmembers down in Paris would be nice, but things like smoking are a bit more accepted in Europe and are not that easy to take away on a trip out there.

I'm English and have never been to American Disney's, so Paris is literally Disney home to me and nothing will ever beat Disneyland Paris now, like Florida would be insane but Paris will never not feel like home 🏡 The smoking is because of the french culture unfortunately it's part of France and the whole reason Walt wanted one in Paris was because he loved the french culture. Also they're possibly starting plans for a splash mountain 😱🎉

Fascinating take there. We're English DLRP Annual Pass holders, and have been coming back pretty regularly since out honeymoon there in 2010, and have noticed some real changes recently. We have never been to the American parks, so can't really compare, but I'd love to hear your take on the "magic" if you ever came back today. In the last couple of years, the Disney company have taken full ownership of the resort from the holding company, Euro Disney SCA, which previously owned it, and since then, have made a LOT of changes just in terms of how the park feels. They had just completed the take-over when you visited, but hadn't really implemented much back then, but today, it's very different. We were just in the park for a week last week, and can really only remember bumping into people smoking outside of designated areas once or twice, and even then, cast members stopped them. Cast members were also a lot hotter on enforcing rules, and making people get off flower beds and statues, and creating a much more organised and less chaotic environment. In the past, "encounter" type meet and greets (the kind not shown on the park map or schedule) were an absolute free for all, and completely crazy... Character meets were pretty rare, they may be out for only 10 minutes, when they happened, a crowd would form around them, and you would often have to literally push your way to the front to get a photo or autograph, with a lot of people in the crowd never getting the chance to do so. Today, even for these types of meet and greets, there are multiple cast members forming a proper queue line, with a guarantee that if you are in the line before they close the queue, you'll meet the character or characters, without needing to win a fight to do so. There seems to have been a real concerted effort to get cast members creating magic moments a lot more now too. I think the language barrier and our general perception of the French as coming across kind of stand-offish doesn't help here, but it definitely seemed cast members have become a lot friendlier, and tried to be "in character" a lot more. Silly little things, but cast members had autograph books which they were asking kids in costume to sign for them, and left my daughter absolutely beaming when it happened, and making a point of saying things like "Good morning princess Isobel" at the gate (I guess it shows up on their screen when she scans her AP) really seems a lot more common these days. We've been to the park for multiple birthday's in the past, and last week was mine. For my daughter, a couple of years ago, even though she had a birthday badge all week, I really can't remember many CM's wishing her a happy birthday... for me last week, even as a 34 year old, I can't remember a single CM who spotted my badge who didn't wish me "Bon anniversaire". Like I say, I can't compare it to California or Florida, but even compared to Disneyland Paris a few years ago (which, don't get us wrong, we still absolutely loved-we've had AP's since 2014) it feels like a MUCH more magical place today, and I'd be really interested to see if you felt differently if you ever came back.

Sitting in the grass is NOT allowed, but just like with smoking policy (which got stricter since last week), they just don't enforce it AT ALL. Management has a whole project going on to get the castmembers to be more "magical". I'm glad you liked the rides at overal Park though.

Well… everyone is biased so. Calling it not magical is very harsh and frankly not true in my opinion. Every Disney park is magical but … To each their own. Think the smoking thing and some other critiques were a bit exaggerated - at least I haven’t experienced any of that and I have been to DLP seven times. Personally I love it and I do think aesthetically it’s the prettiest Disney park around the globe. I also love California tho.

I guess a lot of this is "grass is greener on the other side" - Paris is my home park and I was fortunate enough to go to Anaheim last year. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food in Anaheim, how much better themed some of the attractions are (especially Indianna Jones) and just the general friendliness of the cast members. I've never had a bad experience with Paris CMs either, but I felt like the Anaheim CMs were more naturally willing to engage with guests and make magical moments. Anaheim also seemed far more organised when it came to guest flow etc, Paris can be utter chaos during parade and firework times and it generally felt like there were a lot more characters out and about in Anaheim. Plus I had no issues getting Fast Passes throughout the day, which is only really something that happens on quiet days at Paris. I do like Discoveryland more than Tomorrowland, but I think Anaheim's Fantasyland is so much better, it actually feels like a quaint little fantasy village whereas the Paris one is a lot bigger, but also feels a bit empiter in comparison. Though, the castle in Paris is definitely a lot better, and I prefer Paris Big Thunder Mountain (even if the track layout is the same) and Space Mountain here. You are right about the no-smoking rule (and no selfie sticks for that matter) not being very well enforced, I have seen some CMs try but the guests have just ignored them. I wonder if it's an EU Law that prevents CMs from enforcing it as strictly as they do in the US parks. Sadly a lot of Europeans can be quite rude and inconsiderate of others, and there's definitely a lot of cultural differences from country to country (like compare Paris public transporation, most of it is amazingly automated, but also unstaffed so people treat it with no respect - compared to the likes of the London Underground for example). Maybe it's the novelty for me when it comes to Anaheim, as it is for you when it comes to Paris. :D I love Paris as it's my home park, but yeah there's definitely some things Paris does better than Anaheim, and vice versa.

As a Dutchy, I don't get why fellow countrymen go to Disneyland Paris. That's because the Efteling exists. In case you never heard of it, it's a theme park around old fashioned fairy tales (29 of them) which are all set up in a forest with loads of other attractions, including 8 (?) coasters. So basically Disneyland but smaller, much less commercial and way, way more charming. I don't get why you'd go to DLP when you can spend ~25 euro less per ticket whilst not having to both travel there and pay for accommodation.

I have been to Disneyland Paris twice, and once to Disneyland Anaheim (Only the original Disneyland Park, not DCA), and I love both! I feel like the area in Disneyland Paris is a lot more beautiful because it is so big, and some of the rides are better. But I have to agree on the magic. In Anaheim it was all so magical, even though things were much smaller or less beautiful, there was a lot more magic to it. Also I have the feeling that anaheim has more rides, and I especially love their Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones right. Paris really misses a good big water ride like splash mountain. In a hot summer day there is almost no possibility to cool down.

The "Magic" is the reason why I believe Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World are still better than any of the overseas ones. You can have all the new and updated rides but the American CMs know how to create and preserve the magic. They're the reason why Disney parks are unique among theme parks.

Disneyland Paris looks amazing! Smoking would RUIN it totally. Between CA and FL... Anaheim is the bomb! The rides are the originals or mostly and "plussed" up in so many detailed ways. Anaheim Pirates is way better with the Bayou, Haunted Mansion is slightly better with Halloween retheming, they have submarines still. Space Mtn at Anaheim is way better than DW. Matterhorn! Small World - so much better in CA. And it is tight and compact with not as much walking and transport junk. Now Anaheim has carsland, Bear mountain, Big Thunder is better in Anaheim too. Hi, I thought I'd share my thoughts on Disneyland Paris as a Brit who got back from it yesterday. We went by Eurostar from St Pancras International. It wasn't too bad, I guess. It was a bit claustrophobic, though and I would rather have flown. We stayed in hotel Cheyenne and what I had read on the internet made it sound awful but it was pretty good. You don't exactly need a room made of solid gold when you're only going to sleep there. We had a standard half board meal plan. The food in the restaurant at our hotel was awful. We only had dinner there once. On the penultimate day we found out that you could go to Annette's diner in the Disney village for breakfast and the breakfast there was a lot better. Our favourite restaurant to have dinner at was Plaza Gardens on Main Street. It had normal food that wasn't fast food and they refilled your drink at no extra cost if you asked for it. We didn't take full advantage of Extra Magic Hour which was annoying as the queues were significantly shorter. We used the official Disneyland Paris app which was a lifesaver as it had a map on it and also you could filter it so that it showed a list of all of the rides that currently had a half hour or less queue. Illuminations and the parade were great but the kind of thing you only watch once. You definitely need to get there early if you want a good view. A cool trick we found out about: we went on Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast and we exited the ride via the shop connected to it (constellations) and it just so happened that we had an amazing view of the castle just as illuminations started. Definitely make use of the fast pass system and if there's a ride you really want to go on but don't think the queues get very short just get on the queue, talk to each other and go on your phone. You'll be at the front before you know it. There was something else I was gonna say but I forgot it... Oh well. I hope this is useful! 👋🏻

That's just how the French are, they aren't the politest of people. I'm British and LOVE DLP (not visited any other parks). Remember that English is most people 2nd language if it's not their first, therefore keeping dialog clear and simple should allow more people to understand. (English is complicated language) There's so many different cultures in DLP at one time and Europeans don't always follow rules... they allow kids to play in water fountains when it's hot, climb the fences to sit in the shade (very little shade), even peeing in bushes- cast members do try to stop it! Also remember Paris is the only park (I believe, sure I read it somewhere) that experiences the most varied weather, whilst I was there 1the tempted went from 32degrees to 10degrees in the evening; I've visited in snow, rain, severe winds (so strong it blow gold turrets off the castle), thunder and lightening, perfect warm day. Outside attractions get closed due to weather fairly often, water ride wouldn't work!

Just found your videos and really enjoy them I totally agree with most of your Dland Paris vlog I grew up near disneyland LA and have had an annual passport forever Been to Dland Paris now 3 times - it's fantastic esp if you go for a few days and chill Stay at the Newport bay or wilderness lodge - both are awesome And do a major dining plan cause the restaurants are really good Its just such a beautiful park to hang out in and explore Yes I really hate the smoking And the magic depends - I've had some beautiful, spontaneous moments, chats and experiences with people there but they can also be cold, distant and a bit robotic Still it's amazing on many other levels You need to spend more time there I'm excited cause I'm finally going to wdw first two weeks of december Never been and it's about time 5 days at boardwalk resort / 3 days at portofino bay universal / 6 days at wilderness lodge Deluxe dining plan Can't wait!

100% agree with you about the magic and the smoking! I went to city hall and told them how disappointed we were with the smoking and the Castmember said "this is Europe. What do you want me to do? We can't make the cast members confront them" they don't care and it's such a shame

Why would they care about a handful of Americans complaining? Smoking is socially accepted in outdoor areas here in Europe, so there's little they're gonna do about it ^^' Cultural differences I suppose.

I’m italian, I’ve been to Disneyland Paris four times and to Anaheim twice. True, the “magical” experience is stronger in California but I have to admit I aesthetically prefer the Paris park because of the reasons you mentioned, the castle is beautiful and in general the “settings “, like Main Street have a lot more details..I visited the Paris park first, back in 1994 and Disneyland in California in 2001 ( and then again in 2012) and I remember that the castle really impressed me for how small it was. With that said, I don’t mean that I don’t like the California park... it’s actually beautiful and it does have more rides than the French one ; yes, Splash Mountain and also, you guys also have ToonTown and now Star Wars Land ....

I've only been to Disneyland Paris and I would agree about the people/cast members; they don't seem as polite or enthusiastic as I have seen from the USA parks from vlogs but I just put that down to a language/culture thing. The people who don't seem to understand the rules really gets on my nerves and I'm sorry to say that manners are lacking with some of the French visitors (please don't hate me France!). When I was there in April so many French people would bump into me or shove in queues and not say sorry or look at me like I was in the wrong, yet when I bumped into a little German girl she apologised to me (I also apologised but she beat me to it!) I do like to see so much love for DLP in general though from Americans, it makes me feel better that I can't afford to go to America! :-)

Disney Paris sucks. The quality of the park is so bad. Little things such as the weeds not being cut or street vendors selling stuff and it's just so sloppy. I was so disappointed :(

I disagree with you regarding the magic we have been 14 times and the magic is always there for us. We have been to America 3 times and that was amazing but if I had to choose it would be Disneyland Paris every time.

I’ve been to Walt Disney world and Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney world was definitely better in terms of ‘magic’ and cast members, don’t get me wrong I love Paris but there are some rude cast members. For example me and my fiancé was there and we asked a cast member to take a picture of us and he refused to do it, at first we thought it was because of the language barrier but we asked a second time and did actions to him and he refused, we asked again in the hope that he would do it and refused again!! That’s not magic, that totally took us out of the magic. And we’ve had other instances where the cast members have been ignorant. Where as in WDW the cast members go above and beyond for anyone not matter how small the request and keeps you in the magic at all times.

We visited DL and other parks in Anaheim, Orlando and Paris. If you want to have the latest rides, go to Paris. That said, that was 20 years ago. Recently no really new spectacular rides have been added to the Paris resort. (Yeah I ignore Ratatouille completely). The bad thing about Disneyland Resort Paris, are the French people. They are rude, cross lines, smoke, cough in your face, smoke, smell etc. They really really spoil the Disneyland magic by just being themselves. Really one big advise: if you want to have a Magic (!) vacation, go to Anaheim. That park has the best Magic feeling. Orlando is best second place. And unless, like we do, live close to French, ignore the french park completely. The SpaceMountain is the best looking rollercoaster on the planet. However the ride itself is disappointing. The launch is slowing already in the cannon. And during the ride your head will shake in all 4 dimensions (...). Pirates, Small World and PhantomManor are basically the same. One vote for paris is BigThunder, which is the best BigThunder in the world. This saves it a little for Paris. ut mnog enough for us to buy a plabe ticket to the USA.

I'm writing this on my last day of Disney Paris and this is my opinion DA(disneyanaheim) VS DP(disneyparis) size: DA and Im combining the two parks like Disneyland A with California adventure etc and its larger magic: DA wins DP workers frown a lot some super kind but they don't enforce rules rides: DA and this is because the rides at DP always break down I was at rocking rollercoaster and it broke down twice someone was pressing charges cuz their daughter got a panic attack on the ride but the rollercoasters are really good price: DA is really cheap and is worth the money public: DA the people at DP actually think that the fact that im small and young that they can push me in line btw the answer is DP is bad

You guys are right!! I've been to Disney World several times and indeed, the castmembers arent doing their job, as they have to. Practically 70% does not speak English or they dont treat you with enough respect in my opinion. But that doesnt keep me away from Disney Paris ;) Disney paris is back in the hands of the Americans. I hope they'll put some disipline back in the hireing of castmembers. A

Dean De Ridder guess you didn’t learn any French before you went to France to make this language barrier a bit easier on yourself and the French cast members though?
@115DELDE
@115DELDE 4 года назад
DLP uses French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, as the official languages in the park. So just because 1 or 2 cast memebers cant speak perfect english doesn't mean they arent the best. Ive seen cast members speak in 4 of the t official languages at a csrtain degree where they can be useful and understandable. Second of all, you cannot enforce the American mentality on the European cast members. Europe doesn't work like that. DLP is the most international and sometimes being "serious" and "boring" in order to achieve full collaboration and participation from the visitors is more important than saying puns every second like "go to the dead center of the room" becajse there is a language barrier. DLP sacrifices certain magical aspects in order to accomplish fluid communication and prevent missunderstanding. Also, the park is in Paris, French will be the main language, the sane way Tokyo Disney is Japanese and not english.
