It’s officially midnight here in California and ends the last and final operating day of Splash Mountain. Despite it’s touchy politics and controversy. The ride represented a significant a piece in millions of children’s childhoods. And Disney has yet again stripped us of a little more of their magic. Doing exactly opposite of what they promise. I’m sure the princess and the frog ride will be great, but destroying such an incredible ride in the process isn’t just. Rest in peace Splash Mountain 1989-2023. I hope we can all still find our laughing place.
A beautiful time capsule, when Eisner and Wells were at the height of their powers. The Disney Renaissance was right around the corner. The Second Generation of Imagineers was at the height of their powers. The parks were flourishing with a second wind of new ideas. It's all just a memory now
@@pineapplepixa5270 yeah for sure i feel like they should keep some of it or what they could've done was fix the movie and remove the slay topic about it like they did with the original peter pan but it didn't have a slave aspect but it still had some racial elements
Only during the final scene, and the person commenting meant to put the three main characters Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear. The person put Brer Fox as a wolf.
We don't know if its closing this year... it could close at the start of 2021, similar to when tot closed for guardians Edit: But since Disneyland hasn't opened yet, and lots of construction and new things are getting delayed and this could be delayed indefinitely
@@tigermoth00 the boats moved much slower in the 90s, doesn’t help that he was placed near a small drop but you definitely whiz past him way too fast these days.
All the memories I made riding this attraction with my family, Gone. Forever. Thank you Splash Mountain for being an amazingly perfect disneyland attraction you will be missed.
Then at that point minus well refurbish and change the entire ride, unfortunately. The animatronics are so old and minus well replace it with a new stunning ride
From my first ever visit in 1998 as a 6 year old, this ride has always been one of my favorites. While I’m sure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be great, it is incredibly sad this ride will be replaced. RIP Splash Mountain. Forever my laughing place.
12:17-13:32 is the splash mountain ride.....you knew this ride was up there with the top tier fab four rides the park had to offer. Hearing the original FULL sounds of the ride has done my heart good. Bringing back the memories and times during the 80's&90's that cant be revisited as they once were. Thank you for the upload.
i listen to this almost on the daily while i do my chores so im going to put this here... for me "How do you do?" instrumental: 0:00 How do you do?: 1:09 Br'er Rabbit vers: 4:20 Crocodile/alligator vers: 7:03 Nothin in here but bees!: 9:02 Laughing place: 10:45 Burrow's Lament: 12:13 Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Instrumental: 15:54 Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah: 18:24 Br'er Rabbit vers: 21:47
Andrew Hughes OBJECTION! *slams desk* The character referred to himself as both an alligator AND a crocodile, so IceBringer227 is technically NOT incorrect! *Points* TAKE THAT!!
@@magicemperor2420 ...creative license was used with that crocodile lyric and for the rhythmic flow of the song. There are NO crocodiles in Georgia PERIOD! 😄
@@literalcreativity2639 Just because something is based off a racist movie as you call it does not mean the ride is racist. Jeez! How stupid and dense can people get in this day and age?
Disney needs to take their music, more specifically this, and score it for an orchestra as "Splash Mountain Suite" so that the music and legacy isn't forgotten. I've noticed that Disney's music department is starting to market their music from movies and shows and turn them into suites for professional orchestras to play. I'm sure many have seen the "live to film" concerts where they play the movies and play the music live.
Agreed! That would be a wonderful send off to Splash Mountain. I can’t wait to see what they’ll make for Princess and the Frog, but at the same time I’ll also miss this soundtrack dearly. =)
@@Looloo3838 the point of that movie was to not whitewash American history and tell the story of black Americans in the southern United States. But since the main character was a slave people who haven’t even seen the movie call it racist. Pure ignorance.
I just went to both Disneyland and Disney World this year, I have to say the Disneyland Splash Mountain is miles better. It has more animatronics and has more vocals than World’s. Also, I thought it was longer in ride time.
@@ethand.3630 Awesome!! Only been to the Florida version and always wondered. Gonna try and make it to California before the talked-about ride makeover
@@machineryman7197 good luck with that, I have no idea when our supreme leader will allow Disneyland to open in full. Just went to downtown Disney a few days ago and buena vista street which is open for some reason. I had no Disney feeling walking throughout the whole thing. Frankly I was disappointed it was very sad.
I love this! Out all of most older and newer Splash Mountain audio fan mixes, this one is more accurate with the dialogue, sounds, songs, and instruments for the original Disneyland version! Thank you!!
Love the music!! One of my favorite rides!! I had the chance to go 2 days before they shut it down 😭 Right in the front i got soaked but it was awesome ❤ Hopefully they changed their mind and they will open it again in a few years 🙏
Splash Mountain better be good in 2021. The last time I went to Splash Mountain in 2013. I’ve literally ran out of luck. I visited Disneyworld in 2016 and Feb 2020 and Both times they were closed. RIP Splash mountain. All I wanted was one last ride!
I loved this and this fun. never been on this ride but i saw the movie of this ride. it made my Sunday a whole lot better and i found my Laughing place with this music. Every one have a nice zippy do da week and weekend and a Magical new year in 2021.
I moved 5 hours north of Orange County a year and a half ago and aside from my friends, the biggest thing I miss is Disneyland. It's videos like this that kinda make me feel like I'm back there.
In both WDW and Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountains "What can poor Br'er Rabbit do?" theme before climbing the final ascent to the main drop is instrumental due to absence of the animatronics.
That song is called Burrows Lament, and was not added to some versions of the ride because of how it frightened children. Especially right before the main drop.
The thing about Splash Mountain I will miss most is just hearing “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” around the park. There wouldn’t have been anything wrong with keeping the song in the park’s music loops, at least. It’s such a fun and uplifting song that it should live on forever.
Who thinks Walt Disney World Splash Mountain is better than the Disneyland Splash Mountain? But more importantly which music do you prefer ? The orchestral music from Disneyland Splash Mountain or the western twist to it in Disneyworld?
Sounds so different from the magic kingdom version I’m sad for this ride to go and the fact that people call everyone that is not happy with this change a racist. Just because we don’t want a change doesn’t mean you can call people racist and stop telling us to grow up when the people that made this change are just adults complaining and moping for absolutely no reason why didn’t you protest against this ride 31 years ago yeah they didn’t back then so what makes it racist now
Haha. Thank you! I even watched the movie and found nothing wrong with it. It takes place during Reconstruction era and never once mentions slavery. It doesn't "romanticize slavery" as many people repeat. For its time, it was pretty progressive with a relationship between a white boy and a black man.
I think that it is fair to say that some characters have some “racial stereotypes” but I don’t think that they are racist, being voiced by people of color means that they are naturally going to add some of their own personality into the character (most noticeable in the voice).
Cant imagine riding this and my first thought is to get super mad and triggered. But I guess some people are just built differently. Ironic that people who are sad that the ride is getting removed are being told to grow up, even though this happened bc a bunch of adults couldn’t find anything to do but complain. Is the movie racist? Unquestionably, but this ride transcends the movie and is in its own category.
I agree, but the movie isn't racist. I watched it a few years back and found nothing wrong with it. It doesn't "glorify slavery" as some people say. The movie takes place during reconstruction era and does not mention slavery itself. Not only that, but it was progressive for its time, featuring a relationship between a white boy and a kindhearted black man. The voice of Brer Bear on the ride also uses the profit from splash mountain towards African American actors. The worst thing I can think of is the tar-baby, but that certainly doesn't deserve the meltdown it's gotten. Keep in mind that these were African-American slave folktales being told to and observed by Joel Chandler Harris.
@@foxiewithamoxie oddly the tar baby is directly taken from folklore of certain African groups and was adapted by slaves in the Americas into English. Tar was originally sap from a rubber tree, and instead of the anthropomorphic animals, it was gods. Song of the south's greatest strength is that it could be used to bring attention to how African stories were passed down through slaves and became a huge part of American culture. But unfortunately, as a product of the 1940s, the song of the south suffered the rose-tinted glasses of the "old southern charm" with the plantation social structure being something depicted as unrealistically idyllic. Even in the reconstruction era, they weren't great places to work. I think the biggest issue with song of the south is Disney's desire to avoid confrontation and possibly being seen as bad. They have no problem working with genocidal governments to make propaganda or underpaying CGI artists, but they won't acknowledge or use their troubled past as a learning tool. By keeping the "forbidden" status, the film's positive merits are forgotten, and it's potential for teaching people about how African Americans shaped American folk tales and especially the Disney method of storytelling, they devalue the contributions of African Americans even more. The decision to change it to princess and the frog was extremely calculated to avoid this sort of accusation, but it still detracts from the potential message. When Song of the South was made (1946) James Baskett (Uncle Remus) wasn't allowed into the screening theater. Yet his work contributed to one of the most successful Disney movies ever, doing only slightly worse in its box office than snow white did. This and its re-releases have been extremely limited and edited, often removing all of the live-action segments and large portions of animation. Song of the south is multi-layered, with its literal story about a boy who learns moral lessons from uncle Remus, despite racial difference and tensions, the lessons themselves which are all stories about characters which were adapted from ancestral stories from Africa, and the meta-story about how that sort of thing shaped the company that Disney is today. Splash mountain could have used an update, but it didn't need a re-theming. Song of the South doesn't necessarily need a re-release, but out of any film in the Disney vault, that's the one that needed to be re-made. Remove the misinformed view of the old south, and make it a story about how people like uncle Remus shaped American thought, and how we shouldn't forget about that sort of thing just because it's uncomfortable at first. unfortunately, none of that will happen. handling such a heavy topic would be nearly impossible in Disney's current state, and there's no reason to believe it would make them the profit it desires because it doesn't have the nostalgia value. Song of the South in popular thought now is the epitome of "old racist Disney cartoons" and the reason and meta behind it are lost. I hate to sound pretentious like this, but I don't know how to explain it otherwise.
@@foxiewithamoxie YYYEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!! It breaks my heart to see song of the south get such a bad rep because people who haven’t even seen it just say that it’s racist.
I went to DLR for the first time in June, unfortunately I was literally one week to late to ride it, fortunately I got to ride the MK one twice. I salute to thee splash mountain, while yes I do understand why it was changed, this will always be one of my favorite rides I have ever been on
Don’t worry fellas! Splash Mountain’s not gonna be gone permanently until in the next 2 years. Which is 2024 I heard that they’ll be changing it into the Princess and the Frog themed ride
It’s most likely gonna close within the next few months tho since it’ll take a while for them to redo the mountain, getting rid of all the current stuff in the ride, finish all the new scenes in the ride and installing the new animatronics; I’d say we have probably like 6 months left of the ride being open but who knows, hopefully Disney will tell up when it’s closing, 2024 is when the princess and the frog retheme is planned to open

I'm curious - is there a way to get all the vocal tracks separately from the music? I know the Magic Kingdom version is separated but this is by far the superior version, especially with Nick Stewart himself voicing Brer Bear!
