TriforceP I don’t think they want us to FORGET about it but just not really acknowledge the song. Most people just go on the ride and don’t question what it’s from.
Actually, I was on the ride once with some nice little girls and they asked me "Is this ride based on a movie?" Now, I'm a Disneyland expert and I know a ton of history on it and it's rides. And I explained to them the movie and the ride and compared the two together. I also told them about the scenes in the ride and what they mean in relation to the movie. And their answers were "Ahh! Now that makes sense!" and things like "I didn't know that!"
@@GweGwe-lu9obI ain’t one to call everything I don’t like woke, but I genuinely agree for the few times in my life. If it’s apart of your history, you can’t hide or run from it. You live with it, and changing it for a movie in recent times just feels like a poor attempt to sweep your past under the rug.
I don't understand why Disney would remove such an amazing attraction just because of a film made 80 years ago. No one even questions Song of the South while waiting or riding or whatever.
Went to Disney a few days ago knowing that this would be the last time I’d be able to ride splash mountain as it will be closed next month. It was great and emotional, it’s always been my favorite. And then we got stuck at the top before the drop for like 20 minutes, as if it was letting me savor the finale of this amazing ride. I’ve had amazing memories with this ride, and it will be dearly missed, RIP Splash Mountain
@@dudetocartman Yeah just edited my home videos of it and included an open and closed date for it. I spoke about it in past tense in my post as figured it will be up after it closes longer than it is up before it closes lol. Didn't know Disney lands wasn't closing yet though, that is interesting. No date announced for that yet? It is such a fun ride.
I remember one year at Disney, I got stuck on this ride on one blazing hot summer, sitting right in the sun for about an hour, and we were right next to a speaker playing this song on loop. It was torturing and this song remains permanently engraved in my head
@scarlet M- i got stuck on it's a small world once but it was for less than 1 hour im sure but it was because something was preventing the operator from sending boats through the load/unload area so there was a temporary boat jam in the last big room before the goodbye room
I had the privilege to go on this ride one last time before it closed forever. This has been my favorite ride in disneyland my entire life, ever since i was 6. The music, ride, and the atmosphere is insane. That trip i went on splash mountain 21 times in 1 day. I really made the most of it.
I can't believe they got rid of this ride while I never rode it I always wanted to nobody even knows what song of the south is anymore. They still have peter pan's flight too(Peter Pan has what makes a red man red but this got taken down?)
Whenever the “Sure as your born” line was never clear to me and my mom, so for some reason we started joking that they said “Show us your balls” and to be fair it still sounds like it
I actually edited this track from a bunch of separate elements more than 15 years ago! Nice to find people on RU-vid enjoying it all this time later. Love it.
@@monkeisking9125 Really :) The not-so-great owl element at the end came from a video recorded ride-through because there was no way to find it anywhere else.
@@coltoncatalli8148 Uh, what? I edited the audio track. I did not claim to make the video (which is just an image). It was posted 13 years ago. How does "more than 15 years ago" equate to "ten years after it's posted?" Anyway, why would I falsely claim to have edited this audio? haha If you don't believe me, I'll have to kiss all the fame and fortune I was hoping for goodbye :(
Reg: Welcome to the Salty Spitoon! How tough are ya? Me: How tough am I? How tough am I?! I rode Splash Mountain in the rain! Reg: Yeah so.... Me: Without wearing a poncho! Reg: Uh, right this way, sorry to keep you waiting! That was me on my last visit to Disneyland for Thanksgiving 2019.
It started raining once and no one was in line so my brother and I went on and when it was over there was still no people in line so we did it two more times. It was a blast
HAH amature went on with long sleeves and pants. in winter (around the middle of january) while it was raining. i sat on the front row and proceeded to do it once in the morning.. and one right before the land closed (this is when the rain was heaviest) I was cold to be sure. but being pressured to do it now has given me experience that most others dont have.
I love Splash Mountain, it's incredibly nostalgic for me and I'm going to miss it. I'm glad the music and ride videos will be on RU-vid for me to reminisce about. That said, it definitely needs the update, because holy FUCK the characters' accents are wildly racist
I have been on this ride about 12 times from my 5 trips to Disney. Absolute favorite. First ride I ever went on at Disney. I’m absolutely shocked and sad that it is changing. I’m so so upset. So many memories, getting stuck at the top at night, and the soundtrack. I’m so sad I love this ride. It’s so special to me.
Put on headphones, one word: "Transported" Close eyes.... 1. Smell the wood. 2. Hear the screams. 3. Feel the stones/rock. 4. Smell the water. Me: "Time to be movin' along"
When I hear this all I think about is how the first timeI went in the first seat (I was 13 when this happened) and before I never thought how scary the ride was (I knew how long the last drop was and how fast you go) and on the last drop I screamed out of complete fear and not thrill and now this ride has a special place in my heart where I will remember how scared I was.
I once had to stand in line at splash mountain for over two hours, on a friday. so I had to listen to the first song. over. and over. and over. and over again. needless to say getting off of that ride was all the sweeter when we left.
You know, this song will stick with me the entire Disneyland day after I've gone on the ride; usually I go when the sun's high to dry out quickly, meaning HOURS of this song stuck in me head
Omg this music makes me so happy and brings back memories! My first time at Disney was actually very recent, and I love the happy environment- especially on this ride. Makes me soooo cheerful. Thanks for uploading this video
For god sake you people its literally based on the Uncle Remus tales actual folk tales passed down among slaves. The movie is not that bad and it also had the first african american man to win an oscar. You are doing more to harm to the black community by making it forget its actual heritage than anything else.
@@ashmoleproductions5407 These people destroyed the ride with their complete misunderstanding of history. The movie literally follows a freed slave after slavery's abolition. I am dismayed to see Splash Mountain leave us over this.
This is fun,i hope that every one is having a Zippy do da ,Hakuna Matata, week and weekend and a Magical Year in 2022,Mickey Mouse ' See you real soon ha ha ha"
at epcot in Florida ypu can actually buy beer there wich sucks because there are some people that get drunk there like once when we were walking out of the park and some drunk people were screaming the f word and my mom asked them to stop because they were at a family friendly theme park and my dad and older brother almost got into a fight with them
Dave Gotts vids next time just tell a cast member and they could get banned from the parks. Don't confront people like that. It's better if they get banned from the parks.
The single rider line for this at Disneyland is the best because you can pretty much ride as much as you want within a few minutes. A big plus for me is that the CMs tend to place you in the back, so as a result, you don't get wet as much. This might be a deal breaker for some, but I don't want to be drenching wet in January or February. I love the show part of the ride as well as the thrills. Disneyland is the best at combining show with thrill.
Different parks have different style music echo for Splash Mountain ride; the first Splash Mountain in California Disneyland uses a rather jazzy big band style due to the ride area's close proximity to the bayou orientated New Orleans Square, the second Splash Mountain which is in Walt Disney World of Florida, uses the country western style with lots of banjos, fiddles and harmonicas due to being located in Frontierland and the last Splash Mt. in Tokyo Disneyland, is the same of WDW's (banjos, fiddles and harmonicas) where Tokyo's Critter Country is themed to American Frontier wildlife themed to partially Texas and the New Mexico and actually is the one-half expansion of the park's Westernland (Tokyo's equivalent to Frontierland) and that Critter Country's theme is pretty much like Hong Kong's Grizzly Gulch, but some songs in the ride, are sung in Japanese.
The ride is basically several samples from The Song Of The South soundtrack. I still have the original LP of all these songs. Too bad Disney has basically disowned Song Of The South as it has some amazing music (besides Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da).
I hear that Molasar. I wish they could bring it back or at least make a version were you only show the cartoons. The cartoons were the best part and along with the ones they already made, they could make new ones based off of other Uncle Remus stories. I would pay almost anything to see something like that come from Disney again, especially in theaters or on Blu - Ray!
Yeah, its a good time to go. It might be a little crowded, but the magic makes up for it! ;) Also; California Adventure closes at 8 or 9, Disneyland closes at Midnight. Hope it helped, say "hi" to Mickey for me when you do go!
