I would respectfully disagree with your statements regarding not needing firearms in wilderness areas. We have remotely camped and hiked throughout the Sierra Nevadas and Mojave Desert over a period of 25 years. During that time I have run into methheads, drunk gangbangers testing weapons, stalking cougars, and armed Cartel members guarding MJ fields. Many persons seek remote areas for nefarious activities. We always checked laws and packed weapons. I worked law enforcement and as an atty. Enjoy your channel.

We just watched a You Tube channel of a woman traveling alone using BLM land out west having to deal with a very creepy situation. So yes, you're 100% correct.

I grew up with phone booths when needing a phone. If you broke down on the road there was always someone to stop and help. Give you a lift to get help. I broke down and a trucker stopped and gave me a lift to a mechanic shop. I stopped to help a couple change a tire. People back then helped those in need. I always carried dimes to make emergency calls from a phone booth. I grew up when people looked out for others and offered help. Great times. Wishing you safe travels.

@seameology 16 дней назад
Same. I'm 61 and have only had two flat tires while traveling. Both times, men stopped and changed my tire. I still haven't done it myself. These days I know to check my tires for wear, air, etc.

Nice to see you video. I'm a Canadian fulltime RVer who has wintered as a boondocker in the American southwest. Learning about BLM dispersed camping best thing ever. And, no weapons. The "problem people" won't inconvenience themselves to come out there. I do have a couple of small dogs - they're great alarm system if needed. Yup, asking first about staying at a Walmart always important. I have a cell booster - very helpful for better signal when I'm more remote from towers.

We are so used to being "in touch" with others at all times, how it was before cell phones seems so foreign to most. I remember the days before answering machines, caller ID, pagers, cell phones and Facebook. Going out for a Saturday with the kids was truly "family" time. No interruptions with calls or texts. It was a simpler time and I miss it.

I enjoy your channel very much. I've learned many things watching it. We love you guys and wouldn't want anything to happen to you. Just recently there was a story in the news about a young lady and her dog tent camping on the bluff in Montrose. In the middle of the night, something was walking around her tent making sounds. She got the courage to run to her truck with her dog. She carried, but she left her pistol in the truck! The next morning she looked around her tent. There were human footprints... possibly a local trying to scare her. When my husband goes hunting, I'm not afraid because I have the two J's with me: my judge (pistol) and JESUS!❤

So glad I stumbled across your channel. My wife and I are in our 70's and we downsized from a fiver to a 25' travel trailer, but I can see great advantages to your rig. We've made 4 cross country (almost all the way across) trips out west from Florida, and we enjoy the 4 corner states a lot. Montana is also a favorite. I wish we had a rig like yours, when we were on those trips. I am tempted to look for a u-haul truck that I could convert, since buying an equivalent RV would be out of our budget. You folks are a delight to listen to, and your travels are interesting. Keep it up and God bless.

I understand but the world has changed. And Elizabeth said the truck is safe and locked up well bullets would go right through that metal like fish in a barrel. Better have mace, knife or something else if not carrying. You don't always have cell service out in the boonies and at any time the grid could go down. I live on the Appalachian trail (jersey) and we have to EMS a lot of lost people via helicopter. We have bears/rattlesnakes, and we use bear bells. Carry out what you carry in. Better safe than sorry at any age.

I was 42 before I got my first cell phone. in 1999. In my early twenties, I took road trips all through the West. I did break down once in Utah, in the middle of nowhere. It was almost an hour before a State Trooper stopped and gave me a ride into town. The last long road trip I made was from California to Maryland, in 1999. I had no problems at all, and really enjoyed myself. Five days on the road, just cruising along and seeing the sights. I grew up in West Tesac, and spent my teen years out messing around int he desert. Rock climbing, hiking, and I never once saw a scorpion or snake. I've done a lot of camping in the forest, and had deer walk through our camp one night, but never saw a bear. Now that I'm retired, and living in a small town in East Tennessee, there are bear sightings in town two or three times a week. The closest one has been less than half a mile from our house. I don't go out in the yard after sundown, or before it's full light. I'm not scared, I'm just cautious. I wouldn't expect a little black bear, like there are here, to give me any trouble. I just try to be smart and safe. Thank you so much for these videos, you're giving me some really good ideas for a project I'm planning. Be blessed.

We use Norwex dishwashing detergent in a spray bottle. It is biodegradable and minimizes the amount of water we use if we are boondocking. Agree, hot water for washing dishes beats vinegar. Boondocking at Walmart is something we've never done. Cracker Barrel...many times. Just a whole different vibe to us. (Except the last time when someone showed up about 2 AM to power wash the garbage can storage area! 😮)

I got up locked the door then grabbed my mike to the CB. Started to rattle of the number of people in the van the color and asked if the person on the side would hang on a minute until they leave. They were gone in a flash. We decided to only freedom park if another van was within sight after that.

Writing from Hawaii. No natural snakes, but people are weird, and try to sneak in their "pets". Guam accidentally had brown tree snakes come in on shipments before the 1950's, and by the 1980's had lost 10 of their 12 native forest bird species to extinction. And Guam now has 2 million snakes without a natural predator. Mosquitos, cockroaches and rats also came in on cargo ships. It's lovely to see you both enjoying your new camper and vacation trip! It sort of makes me laugh to see how many people give you advice - I would be asking you both for the advice! Take care and stay well - enjoy the country; you deserve it. Aloha!

Trust your senses. If you don't feel comfortable it's time to move. Carry bear spray. It is legal in all states including Canada, it's normally shoots further than mace and is non-lethal. Just watch the expiration date! Stay safe!!

I get that same question when I backpack and camp out in the woods. My answer is “Crazy don’t walk that far”. I’ve left established campgrounds that I paid for because of weird people who were camping near my site. You just have to be aware

I live on a mountain and have camped 70 years without fear or danger. Living in town is much scarier. I also lived before cell phones, I learned to deal with things. I am around bears, coyotes, snakes, deer, etc. at home!

Hey Bill and Elizabeth my husband and I were married in 81 for the first 10 years we didn’t have a phone and the only reason we got one in 91 was our son was born. I’m thankful for you both and your adventures they are me to places I’ll never get to go.

We had a party line when we got married. Boy has life changed! We appreciate Facetime so we can see our daughter and grandson who live so far away.

My wife and I have camped in every state except Alaska and Hawaii. We also have camped in Canada. We have been camping for over 50 years and we have never had a serious problem. On a recent trip from Ohio to Florida we stopped for fuel in Elizabeth Town Kentucky at a Five-star gas station/convenient mart in a very good neighborhood. I filled up with fuel and got in our 2021 Thor Compass. I looked in the passenger side mirror and saw a man carrying 2 Jack Russel type dogs unleashed coming toward the camper. He tried to pull open the camper door. It was dead bolted and locked. He looked in the passenger side door and said something we could not understand. He returned to his green Chevy 1/2 ton truck with his 2 unleashed dogs. Keep your doors locked and have a way to protect your family if an intruder gains access to your home on wheels. Be safe and prepared. America is not what she use to be. Now for the rest of the story. We did not confront the man. We continued on I 65 south toward the Sunshine State. After a couple of miles I saw the green Chevy truck with his 4 ways on approaching, he pulled beside us. We could see him and the 2 dogs. He was very close to us. He tried to run us off the road. I slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the truck however I did not stop. He tried this 3 times and was not able to get us to stop. We were in panic mode. My wife called 911. He was beside us again in his attempt to stop us. He saw me with the phone and sped off. We were able to get a partial plate number. We could see him at a great distance because he had his cargo light on in the rear of the truck bed. 911 told us they would let them know. The green truck with his cargo light on had pulled over at the next exit, waiting for us. We did not know what we would have to endure next. A class C RV had passed us and my wife suggested we stay close to the class C RV which I did. Maybe that is why the green truck did not try to follow us. Warnings to follow: 1. Keep your doors locked. 2. Purchase a dash cam. (We now have one) 3. Security cameras (we have them at home) 4. Have a way to protect yourself if someone gains access to your rv. 5. Do not stop. 6. If you are older you are a target. 7. 911 was no help. This was typed on Sticky Notes. It happened to my wife and I on October 31, 2022 at 7:08 am.

Look into some of the satellite SOS things. Pretty cheap some come with insurance in case you need to pay for rescue or flight out . Starlink may be nice option too

We're considering Starlink, not so much for emergencies, but so we can upload videos.
