​@@backagain5216 well yes, but if these folks already understood and knew how to get respect, then they would not need to seek it out, or be insecure about it. It's really more of a matter of ignorance (not knowing and/or understanding) than it is arrogance in many instances. Ignorance is a bad thing, but ignorant people are not...they need those who see that they are ignorant (unknowing) need to be informed so that they will no longer be ignorant. Then you get people who want respect the easy way...simply because THEY say you must respect them...and This type of person usually ends up doing unsavory things, committing crimes and so forth, because they are ignorant of truths, and people who knew that decided to give them false information--example is that you get respect when you kill someone. Lots of kids who were into the gang scene in the 1980's actually believed that, and those around them--those taking advantage of them told them it was fact. They lived by it, it became so ingrained that dying for respect is noble (and believing someone you cared about died to earn respect makes accepting the helplessness that comes with violent death acceptable and easier to use than the facts). So, those are the one's we all hear about in the news and stuff. But then, I believe that basic respect should be automatically given to everyone until they give me reason to view them otherwise. BUT, given where I grew up, and what I've learned, when you lose respect with me, it can be a very serious matter. BUT...keep in mind that respect was a currency, a witness, and especially, respect was a means of survival in MANY places...such as those where I grew up.
