“I go to therapy 4x a week” is not equivalent to “I am more emotionally and mentally stable than you, a person who doesn’t go to therapy” and Trisha clearly does not understand that.

@@zeldazebstrika2127 Yeah, I can understand how they would take it as hurtful. And honestly, I also don't think it's ever a good idea to tell people how they're feeling even if you want them to be honest. It takes a moment for people to process how they're feeling in the moment sometimes. So he was obviously also frustrated with Trish and used sarcasm... which, in my eyes, kinda more hurtful than how Trish was showing their frustration at first. I just think they're both making a lot of (hopefully unintentional) wrong moves.

VALIDATE the EMOTION: You're feeling this way for a reason, you're not 'crazy' NOT the BEHAVIOUR: I understand you're feeling this way, AND talking/acting this way to people is not a healthy way to get these feelings out- it's not fair on others, it isn't helpful. SOLUTION: Lets have a discussion about how you can express these valid emotions without becoming a person you don't want to be/hurting others and yourself. I was in intensive therapy for my BPD for 3 years and this is how myself and the people in my life manage the extreme emotions

Not really. They’re kinda both at fault for not communicating correctly. Sure, they’re co workers but they’re also potential family and they need to communicate effectively if they’re gonna have the same relatives. Trisha is pretty over eccentric and Ethan is more of a realist when it does come to ideas for the podcast. I honestly would be pretty upset if someone I had a podcast with just waiting for that moment until I blow up like a ticking time-bomb and quit. In Ethan’s defense, Trisha’s ideas were so far out there and that would really increase the budget immensely. Not only just that, but it might fuck a lot of people over if Trisha ever did quit.

The “they have no right to be angry” argument always ticks me off because people can’t help how they feel, that’s not really something you change about yourself. No matter how much you grow as a person, you can’t change how your brain reacts to things. So they obviously had a right to be mad, but how they dealt with their emotions is another thing. How you deal with emotions is something you can work on, not the emotions themselves. So really that argument should have been “hey, Trisha really didn’t handle things the proper way here” instead of “you don’t deserve to be mad”

Counterpoints: - hiring new staff and expanding on the old staff costs money. if they're hiring new people just to work on the show and keeping the old crew to also work on the show that's going to significantly drive production costs up - also Trisha, depite what they may claim, is flakey and unreliable. it's asinine to hire more individuals soley for this one show that she has walked out on 2(?) times before. - ribbon dancing is a good idea.... but not for a podcast. the show is a podcast, if they wanted to do other things like ribbon dancing they'd have to completely change the format so that it's just a long form vlog show, which is *fine* if that's what all parties want but again that would cost more money in changing equipment, losing money on the set they had built for a podcast, and potentially losing some viewership. edited to add: - "who wouldn't be hurt by [assuming they're just going to quit]" sure its hurtful but then you're once again expecting ethan to walk on eggshells and take unnecessary and exorbitant amounts of risk on doing all of this. especially when it's impossible to please her because when her ideals change she refuses to communicate it. until she has proven she's capable of being an adult and using their words to communicate in an appropriate fashion and will not walk out when a disagreement arises, it's completely fine for him to proceed with caution when continuing on the podcast with her. she can be hurt but she can't be surprised or blame him for acting that way. - and "it's always mental health awareness until it gets ugly" i disagree (in this scenario) because it's mental health awareness until you weaponize your mental issues and therapy usage for pity and personal gain. then i persoanlly am not going to let the mental health be a distraction. even when you say "oh it's not an excuse", theres such a fine line between using it as context and using it as an excuse, and the way people slip to the other side of that line is by saying "but they're trying" to excuse it instead.

You don't run a business so i can see why people are confused about the "firing of the crew". He could just hire new crew for frenemies but that would be a big waste of money for someone to be there 1 day a week. There is also a big risk of hiring staff when he has always been unsure how long the podcast will last (because he works with trisha). If he had unlimited resources he might be able to hire a new crew. But with the deal he has with trisha it would not be as profitable when he is the only one that has to pay for all the costs and salaries. On top of that she does not have to deal with the work and training that goes into it. And even if they had hired new staff the old crew would still have less job to do and probably would be fired from working on frenemies. Hiring new staff makes almost no sence unless 1. Trisha is willing to put in much more work. And 2. The business is overflowing with money to just throw around and still be profitable. Or 3. The crew can't or don't want to work.

BPD is really difficult, I was diagnosed in 2016, and it takes a looooot of time to break certain patterns. Your emotions change within hours and very dramatically. The emotional skin thing very much hits home. It is really tough to watch her publicly burn these bridges or hurt those around her so publicly because I can empathize with this within my private life. I can’t imagine it being out in the forefront during my “healing” (which you are ALWAYS healing from BPD, it’s a constant effort of growth in my opinion) none of this is an excuse, I would never excuse how shitty I’ve been to certain people in the past, but she should have definitely just taken a time out to collect her thoughts, to cool off and to deal with it privately. One of the hardest things for me was to learn to not bottle up my feelings and when to allow them to be present and appropriate. Still not perfect, but it’s taken years to get to a good place and I hope she gets to a good place soon.

I think they always go to the defense “i just wanted to hire my sister! I posted this under another comment as well and I would be really interested if someone could explain this to me. I'm not very well informed when it comes to BPD unfortunately, so I would be happy to learn more. As far as I've understood them lashing out and being "overly sensitive" can be linked to her disorder. (Not saying everyone with BPD does that) Now I'm wondering if some of their other behaviors - which to me are problematic - could be linked to it as well. For example the way they talks about Jewish people or them being insensitve and ignorant in general towards a lot of different issues. I personally wouldn't make a connection there, but maybe there is one, I don't know. I hope this question doesn't come of as rude or anything. I'm honestly just interested and would love to learn and understand. Because to me them "over-reacting" or "being-mean" isn't really the issues with them. It's that they say some very hurtful things to a lot of different communities and from my perspective this says a lot about their character, but very little to nothing about their mental disorder. But as I said, I might be completely wrong here.

They still refer to teddy fresh as a little merch line, and won’t acknowledge that H3 productions is a production company, one that she has no stake in.

I think by Trisha saying she wanted to hire new crew for frenemies, that meant all the og H3 crew would have been “fired” from that show

14:30 no. It's not that trisha doesn't have the "input" in how 5% is spent, that money is literally used in production fees with trisha is too uneducated to understand (as they (trisha) said that themselves). What input would trisha bring? Don't pay you insurance this month, spent it on ribbens for our next show?
@abrilorta6519

I see your point on how Trisha might’ve wanted to expand the crew instead of firing the og and hiring new people. That would be the most logical however, when she brought up the point in frenemies she was complaining about the money and how it seemed like a lot and how she didn’t even like the crew because she felt uncomfortable with them and that she wanted her own crew. That seemed to me like she wanted a whole separate crew for frenemies since she felt uncomfortable with the one now and since she had issues with the money it wouldn’t make sense to expand it and waste more money. So even tho the og crew would still be employees in h3 they’d be fired from the frenemies podcast to be replaced by the crew Trisha wanted. Edit~ Trisha goes by she/her/they/them

Maybe Ethan uploaded the podcast because Trisha and him already talked about the misunderstanding the night of the podcast and had an agreement to add a new person to the crew. Maybe in his mind it was already resolved and would be something they would talk about in the next podcast. It can also be that he needed to fulfill his obligation to the company who sponsored them for that episode. The only thing he did not expect was Trisha making a video saying she is quitting Frenemies.

you have no idea how refreshing it is when someone without BPD can look at a situation like this without invalidating how her symptoms manifest in particular. she has no excuse for the damage/net-effect her actions cause, but she absolutely deserves the chance to explain & make sense of her behaviors. this is what kind attention looks like and I’m honestly just so grateful for this video even though some of the comments under it are rly effing with me.

yeah, it’s not that simple with bpd, babe. when you get upset about something (even if it’s over something small) it feels like your anger is literally about to burst from your skin like a blister. try to think of a time where you were incredibly angry, now times that x5, that is anger for people with bpd- everytime, even if what they’re upset about seems “small” to other people.

@@fireblood498 uhm bpd is different for everybody. What you just explained sounds like emotional dysregulation which any person can have; especially those with diagnosed mental illnesses. It’s usually cause of childhood trauma or childhood neglect. All that to say don’t generalize your symptoms onto everyone with bpd. It is a clinical psychiatric diagnosis that exists on a spectrum. People with bpd do not check off all the same boxes. Only Trisha and her therapist knows whether her behavior is due to bpd or her just being a troll. There is way too much generalizing going on for these diagnoses when even psychiatrists have a hard time diagnosing patients because of the spectrum.

I feel like way too many people were expecting Ethan to know how to handle these types of situations w people who have bpd. He is not responsible for that. He really shouldn’t have to walk around eggshells. I understand controlling your behavior when you have bpd is difficult but the only person who has to be in control is Trisha. At first I was very understanding of her. But as time goes on, she refuses to take any ounce of accountability and is placing all of the blame on Ethan. In terms of what happened with the crew, Trisha implied that she wanted them to be fired. She’s been posting a lot of hypocritical things and she’s really out their family in a tough spot. Regardless, I hope Trisha learns to have more control over time and I hope Ethan heals from this. Ethans faults go more undetected because he’s so calm and obviously doesn’t have bpd. When Ethan said, “well she was just going to quit anyways,” my mind automatically went to the time he promised her that he would never abandon her and would always stick by her side. I know if I were in trishas spot that would obvi hurt me but also make me wonder if his words were empty you know?

I think everyone has their limit and his was exceeded a long time ago. He is not a therapist nor an expert on BPD. Ending frenemies can actually help them reduce amount of tension that the show's was creating between them - remember Trisha is still part of the family so it might be better for them to close this chapter and try to have healthier relationship outside work.

I completely understand wondering if his words were empty, however; I don't see him ending his business relationship with Trisha as going back on his words. Especially since he specified in his video explaining his side of things that he still wants to be friends, if possible, and that she's still a part of the family. She's still Moses' fiancé and he cares for her deeply as a friend. That's why this situation was so messy to begin with, bc Ethan is not a professional or a therapist, and Trisha was his friend so how could he not be hurt by the things she was saying constantly, everyday, on every platform possible rather than to him so they could work it out in any way?
