I can’t believe how much effort they put into this game, I bet they had a lot of fun back in the day making all these moves and giving each character quotes.. this game slaps every Arena fighting game ever and even its own story was quite good, I can’t believe this game is only on PSP
@@Omega-jg4oq And even the very subtle details for each character reflecting their own games, like Onion Knight having rapid slashes to reference how you'd hit an enemy like 30 times in FF3, Terra's Fire trailing across the ground like how it looks in FF6 or Yuna's new EX Burst being one big reference to her Sending dance after Kilika got destroyed
NT was a wholely 3v3 competitive online game. There are no narrative for these fights. No adventure like in the originals. You unlock story as a bunch of scenes clips, so effectively you are unlocking bits of a movie. There is very limited character moves customization. Some default attacks are utterly useless like Onion Knight's default HP attack is a straight horizontal dash, useless in this very vertical game. EX Bursts (what you saw in this video) do not exist, makes sense in a six player game, but it's very disappointing. There is a strange emphasis on summoning in NT and it gets old very fast watching the same summoning animation over and over again. There may be more reasons. It's just a vastly different game than the original.
A third game was released in 2018 called Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and was a port of the Japan Arcade exclusive Dissidia Final Fantasy.. Dissidia NT had extremely mixed reviews due to the dev team giving way more attention to the JP Arcade version (which I heard is an actual good game) instead of the console version and NT is no longer receiving updates
I miss this game gabranth was my favorite character to use he couldn't deal damage unless he was in ex mode but luckily he able to fill his own ex Gauge without a ex core
@@gjtrue If I recall, didn't he end up being one of the best characters for that very reason? EX mode was just that good it made up for him being unable to do much in normal form?
Shame that they didn't get the reason why Dissidia is great. For me its the capability to map your own attacks or skills, how to use your back ups (either to for them to tank an attack or extend the combo) or when to use your EX. They went too far with the 3v3, i think they were trying aim to get the audience of Smash Bros but in the effort doing it the lost the soul of the game itself.
It would be fine if they literally just make a 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 all in the same game but they ultimately fuk it up by just giving us only one of those options
Wow. Never knew about this game, was never big on FF until recently but this game looks SICK. We really need more flashy hyper combat games like this, underrated genre for sure!
Agreed. They released NT which is not nearly as liked. And for good reason, it tried to reinvent a system that didn't need to be reinvented. I honestly may just get a PSP JUST for this game, gnl.
I remember playing this with my friends when we were at school. Almost every person in that group hated my mains(Cloud, Gabranth, Exdeath, Firion, Garland, Lightning and Kain) cause mines were crazy OP. God I miss that time. Time played: Almost 700 hours.
I absolutely love how the text boxes for each EX Burst changes to reflect how they’d look in the character’s game of origin. That’s a detail they didn’t need to add, and it just goes to show how much effort and care went into this game.
I still think there's a secret in the game because of those moogles in the selectable cutscene section. There's a missing slot in the game files, is it Chaos as a playable character?
I like how FF13 has no villain to represent it. Know why? Cuz the protags are the villains. Seriously, if they just did nothing, the supposed villain couldn't ever hope to reach their goal. Also, how did Sephiroth kill with Super Nova? This drives me crazy in every game he does this now and I feel like I'm probably the only person who doesn't care that it's nostalgic.
The only fighting game where I feel I could play competitively. It's basic I know but I was so comfortable with this game, to the point blocking and dodging st the right times was effortless. If this got a Switch port I would love to have online play.
They should make this online play accessible, and maybe they should include more playable characters in it because I, II, III, V, VI, IX, XI (still no villain representative 'til NT), XII and XIII (also no villain representative in 012, 'til NT as well) lack two more characters for Cosmos' side. And they should include XIV, XV and recent XVI as well, i would love to see Clive, Jill and Barnabas in Dissidia too.
I say this without a shadow of irony, but Chaos from Dissidia is, given all the context and lore and the fight and everything, one of the coolest, if not the coolest, and most badass god fight in all FF games. 1 up for the real ones who always beat him with either WoL or Garland, as it was meant to
He should have been the main villain of Dissidia NT or just in Dissidia in general, I love how he is so calm and cold even tho he is so powerful but he is only angry and chaotic and mad when he becomes Feral chaos
As a DFFOO player I really enjoy with Burst or Ex attacks that originally in DFF and they also added so many character Burst and Force animation. I hope they remake this kind of DFF with Force animation from DFFOO
Im just glad DFFOO has both its own interesting stories and actually being an all stars RPG Dissidia game that even takes the most unknown and unthinkable playables. (Im happy Jill Nabaat from XIII finally has more role in it too)
@@gesotaiga2398 Agreed, I've seen Jihl Nabaat job from MFF before that was a surprise. The one that really surprise me is Lunafreya and Braska they both have no fighting footage from the game but they can made them very well
@@xxreyoxx you could literraly teleport with every HP moves to dodge attacks or bait your opponent into dodging early and catch them. idk what you want more from that.
Feral chaos was possibly the hardest character to unlock cause you had to fight him to get him luckily I just used Yuna and kept blasting him with Bahamuts laser beam until I killed him lol
The one thing that always angered me about this game was how watered down they made Squalls Lionheart move. It's like they were afraid his limit break outshone Clouds or something
I think it was time limits. Each Ex Burst can only be so long and they wanted to include Renzokuken for the input. But I mean Renzokuken IS better than Omnislash in many ways.
@@akeyrtainment8507 I'm kinda limiting it to the original dissidia's roster, i mean we didn't get Y'shtola (scrapped character), zenos and the rest of other series above 13. I did say it's a remastered not a remake anyways.
@@noyoucantnoicantnowecantsostop too bad most of vid game company now focus on leeching player/users money. I understand the argument that they need to make money , but really SE? They can do better , not everything that they own become gacha game 😢
Dissidia NT was such a disappointment, i hope they make a new game that plays more like 012 but keep the new characters added to NT and add some more, especially spinoff characters like Jack from Stranger of Paradise, Benjamin from Mystic Quest, Lann and Reynn from World of Final Fantasy, and Marche from Tactics Advance. They should allow two assist characters so they can still include a retelling of NT's story mode if they want, and add some more characters who are assist only like Aerith was, maybe for example Cid Haze, Relm, Eiko, and Larsa
6:50 Ex-Death's EX Burst is one of my favorite. I played the game often with headphones on, and just the audio treatment to it was so immensely satisfying and chilling, whether you were on the receiving end or not. I just loved how the audio stopped in the game for a brief moment and everything fades to black, but his words just ring in your ears as the last thing you'll hear. Definitely one of the best presentations for not just this game but overall in many fighting game specials IMO.
This game can slap any and every Arena fighting game that exists, every Ex burst feels satisfying and specially if you’re doing it with your favourite characters
Thanks for a 2023 update to this. Surprised so many people are still showing up for this game. Yeah, it rules, it's my favorite video game, but it's an old PSP arena fighter with a console sequel. Just strikes me as surprising, that's all.
This game still looks amazing for a PSP game many years later, I never owned a PSP but I would’ve loved this game and all the neat little callbacks and references from each character’s respective game. I enjoyed Crisis Core Reunion so I hope this can somehow get the re-release remake treatment after the not so good NT.
They need to remake this game. Not like that weird 3v3 arcade game or the FF7 remake. They could so much with this game. Make it competitive even, have a battlepass with pvp in it. It would be soooooo good.
to me, Squall's Renzokuken is the most satisfying button input of all, as we not mashing the button but press the R button by follow the timing. Even Ultimecia circle button is not satisfying as Squall's even though the pattern is the same. Its the R button that make the difference. And he's the only character that use R as main EX Command input.
I've never seen Chaos' EX mode and EX burst until now, I only assumed Feral Chaos only had that. I guess I never encountered Chaos going EX mode in my gameplay ever.
Damn, I wish they’d remaster 012 and NT in an ultimate package. And maybe fill in the missing reps for II,III, and IX. 012 will be one of my top games forever.
I hope this gets a good remake. The "NT" steam version is utter trash. Dissidia & the DS version of FFIII shaped most of my childhood gaming. The "remakes" including Duodecim SUCKED. FFXIV is a great legacy but I just want to see a good brawler FF game again. Long story short I just wanna play Cloud of Darkness or Shantotto again
Man, I remember that I managed to complete chapter 000 when I was like 12. Looking back, that was absolutely painful and I don't know if I have the patience to even attempt again. I beat Feral chaos without the 100% Iai strike Firion HP attack spam strat.
I really just picked Cloud, boosted my EX duration and Wall Rush DMG, and just wailed at Feral Chaos. Cloud just breaks guards, and it's done in five minutes, without any Iai Strike.
@@Sephiroth08150 Yeah, I used cloud too. My strat at the time was just basically dodge dodge HP attack until dead. I used characters with wide hp attack hitbox, cloud's cross slash always managed to carry me to atleast 50k to 30k hp left.
I had a lot of trouble the first time around. But now that I am decent with Shantotto and Yuna it would not be to hard to do again Feral Chaos is actully pretty easy with one simpel . There is an abillty that automaticly looks on to the assist of your enemy. Garland is what makes it hard to avoid Chaos attacks. But with that abillty he gets taken out so easily. And I can just beat Chaos normaly.
I used Onion Knight against Feral Chaos. Just had to look for the right timing then slash away. And nope, I didn't think much about accessories that time.
I beat Feral Chaos using all the characters (with 1 hp strat), even using Feral Chaos himself haha. Such fun time. I always use Iai strike level 1 strat (Cloud or Firion) to beat all the minions before getting to fight Feral Chaos at floor 5.
If only Dissidia NT jad the EX Bursts but in HD quality. I would've loved to see what an HD version of Kefka's Light of Judgment would've looked like in Dissidia NT.
A shame there wasn't a third game in this series (nope, no third game, not at all, what are you talking about) I would have loved a Dissidia Undecim 011 with even more characters, like AN ACTUAL ADDITIONAL FF IX REP LIKE VIVI OR GARNET, and of course characters from newer entries like Clive
Bro all they need to do is release a remaster version of Dissidia 012, give it a good netcode, maybe balance some stuff out, see that if it sales. If it sales then make a new game base on Dissidia 012, *not a 3v3 arcade game that they thought it's going to be the succesor for Dissidia 012 and suprise that no one likes it*
