But at that same time, I wonder what a fronting alter would look like from the inner world, and how an alter's actions in the inner world would translate to movement or action in the outer world.
@@guidingkeyblade7834 um- i wanna explain what we call our “fronting room” one alter(fronting/main fronting alter) is basically hooked up to a “VR” type thing but they can see the TV screen in which basically is 3 screens(your side views and where your looking) that shows our vision- this is set up in a room with a door that can be locked(front stuck or blocking out fronting) or wide open(switching quickly) or shut but not locked- we have a couch and some chairs & tables set up behind the fronter so we can watch Being co-con is basically we set up another VR system but playing a one player game- so one has control of half the body and the other has control of the other half- up and down, left and right, random portions? we basically split it up(sometimes unevenly) relatively evenly- so yea that was our long winded explanation of our fronting room- woo!
I’m incredibly sorry if this makes you all uncomfortable but I think I am a system, as of right now I know 12 members/ voices they each have certain names and pronouns and the Voice I hear from them often changes, I guess for example apple has an Austrian type accent while Nova and Calypso share a similar British accent to them. Lately I’ve been kinda “understanding” how they look like? I’m not sure how to explain. I’ve known a voice who said his name was Arthur for awhile but I understand I can’t dignoase without a person who knows the disorder and we’ve tried to, only to get told something triggering. Witch is why I’m reaching out, if you able to help. My taste changes sometimes as well as what I enjoy or dislike changes and how I handle emotions as well. Just trying to figure out what’s going on, if you are able to help or not. Thank you for reading, again super sorry if this makes u uncomfortable - j
I really don’t understand any of this... like, okay, a trauma happened... this whole system thing is legit one body and mind, and these characters are just.. emotions and emotional responses that the body experiences on a day to day basis, you know? You’re you.. and only you. One person. One mind..
hi! thanks so much for your comment! dissociative identity disorder is a childhood trauma based disorder characterized by the existence of two or more distinct "personalities" or alters! these are NOT just "emotions" or "emotional responses that the body experiences on a daily basis". there is a lot of amnesia between these alters, and they are very distinct. we all have different personality traits, likes and dislikes, thoughts, etc. there is a thing called an inner world where the alters go when they are not "in control of the body" where we look differently from the body. the inner world is a place where alters can interact and the brain can process trauma. of course we are just "one person" in a physical sense. we obviously only have one body and one mind. but with DID, the mind fragments itself into these different "states" that form and grow up as people, creating alters. so, no, i'm not just "only me". i'm me, plus my alters. DID is a very complex, individual and incredible coping mechanism that some children can form when they've experienced severe and repeated trauma in their childhood. i strongly urge you to use a bit of compassion and common sense before commenting something invalidating and ignorant like this on another vulnerable person's youtube video :) also, as someone who was diagnosed with DID by 4 separate professionals, this is a REAL disorder that i AM suffering from. enjoy the rest of your day :)))) -Mina
I have tons of questions. How is dissociating actually different than zoning out? What is the difference between a persecutor and a persecutor protector? Also, I have heard alters referred to as sexual protector. I would really appreciate a video on types of protectors. Are triggers either negative or positive? Are there other theories besides structural dissociation? I still don't understand it. I would like to. One thing I find hard to get is explanation like young children are described as parts of what they need but I see little kids having an obvious personality traits developing not separately. So what are ANPs and EPs and how are they different? Are all alters either one or the other? Can any type of alter be an age sliders? Can factives be historical or are they only based on present day people? Sorry I am so many questions. This video did help a lot.
Ben Baker - we have answers! dissociating is basically really intense zoning out. so they're kind of the same, but on opposite sides of the scale if that makes sense. some people use persecutor and persecutor-protector interchangeably, but for us we say that persecutors are misguided trauma holders or any other role, and persecutor-protectors are very intense protectors who sometimes hurt the body. we would sometimes classify Delilah as a persecutor-protector, as she's broken our phone screen, finger and more in what we call her "protector anger" we can definitely make a video all about protectors! we were thinking of doing an "all about alters" series. we'll start the script for it this week :) in did or osdd, triggers are either negative or positive for the most part. i'm sure there's also a "neutral trigger" but we don't have any of those personally so i'm not really sure we're planning on making a full video on the theory of structural dissociation, but other than the theory that our brain basically broke, there really aren't any other theories that we've been able to find. it's not children per se, actually infants that have the separate ego states (i want parent, need food, want to play) and they slowly come together over time and finish coming together at the ages of 6-9. so it's quite possible to see a kid with a distinct personality, because it's finishing forming or else just finished forming, but when you're an infant, the theory states that we have these ego states. also, personality traits and ego states are completely different things from my understanding. hope this clears it up! ANP - apparently normal part EP - emotional part so they're exactly what they're called. ANP's are "normal," and can function well in daily life without knowledge of the trauma(s) for the most part and are not ruled by their emotions like EP's are. all alters will be one or the other, yes, since it's not technically a role like a host or protector, but a type of alter if that makes sense lol any type of alter can be an age-slider. our sexual protector (Garnet) age-slides with extreme stress. factives can be anyone that exists or has existed, as long as they are or were real people, yep! feel free to ask any other questions you may have! :)
@@guidingkeyblade7834 i believe that people look at the words more than the actual meanings. like they say gender dysphoria is depression because thats what dysphoria means. when the definition of gender dysphoria has a set of criteria which none has anything to do with the word dysphoria. and disorder is added to everything in the book that means it negatively interferes with daily living. so read the criteria to DiD and remember that is is bad for you. there is nothing good about having a mental disorder. you can make light of your situation but you still have negative problems.
@@guidingkeyblade7834 sorry, i click peoples names and even if i talk generally. not always do i talk at others. just to everyone that reads and many times i will click a name to show the others reading to see my comment might add or have something to do with what you said.
The trauma also has to be reaccurring for years. People cant go through one or two traumas to develop D.I.D. as a child. I just wanted to help u out with this reninder. 😀
could you possibly do a video on how to come out to parents/friends/etc. that you believe you may have the disorder? We're almost positive we do however we're not sure how to ask our gaurdian to talk to a mental health professional about it.
it’s an alter who is more comfortable and able to be in social settings! they’re usually more extroverted, friendly and don’t have any social anxiety :) -mina
DID and OSDD form before the age of around 7-9, so it wouldn't be that, unless the trauma is that deeply repressed. Perhaps it would be maladaptive daydreaming disorder? I'm not sure what it would be honestly, sorry! -Mina
It might only start showing later in life but have emerged at 7-9 or so! Like, your alters might only come out of dormancy at 12 or something. Does that help at all?
If the child being traumatized doesn't have a great support system is when DID/OSDD correct? I heard a certain British DIDtuber said. (I don't wanna say the name in case they're a trigger for anyone.)
Kayla Barnes - yes, there needs to be trauma and an insecure or disorganized relationship with primary caregivers in order for it to develop. but we talk more about this in an upcoming video :) -Wendy
I’m probably gonna send this to Lee(my platonic partner) because they love knowing things about me(as i, them) and OSDD is a huge part of me and so i’d like them to know terms as you explained them very well- thank you for this video! ~Wilbur(he/they/fireself)
thank you for the video! we have osdd and we're trying to teach our partner terms about us so this helps alot! hope you guys are doing well ^-^ / Lee and Hina
Thank you for this we are a newish system under going dx. Been a multiple for a while tho #amnesia But we can't keep up with the lingo and this is the video that covers everything ! Thank you 💞 most videos cover a few not everything 🙂 🐺🖤 TLWF
Thank you for this video!! We’re a pretty new system, well no, but pretty new actually focusing on being a system and learning about ourselves and these terms helped so much with self-confusion on how to call things -Felix
