I love his style here, or the image of this. The silver and the lavender. The black, the buttons on the jacket, his hair is always wild but manages some order, his sincerity in his eyes, his desperation, his calmness. It's a kind of knowing. The lucidity and movement in his hands. I never know where to look even when I am just listening to him. The angle of the microphone, it's very INSISTENCE in the shot. I am mesmerized by him, astonished and grateful. Hunter of butterflies, dreamer of worlds, so meek and strong.
oh it's just the way it is ... but if you didn't noticed there is great acceleration of awakening taking place ... just look around ,but first look within ofc .... :)
How he ended this talk is exactly the state of the world right now. We absolutely did not go quietly into the night. We doubled down. Western society is using Islamic extremism I'm a very opportunistic way as to siphon the world of all its industrial resources.
"All societies are about The Maintenance of Boundaries. It doesn't matter whether you're, you know, a stockbroker in New York, a zen monk in Kyoto, a Hasid in Jerusalem: your society is held together by boundaries, and definitions. And anything which dissolves those boundaries, and introduces relativity into cultural modelling is felt to be threatening, because we like to believe our reality is somehow sanctioned -"This is how it SHOULD be!" But in fact (you know) that''s just a cultural judgement. All cultures think that their culture represents a sanctioned reality. It doesn't." And - in maximally stressed out cultures, the threat of boundary dissolution will include wrong thinking, I'm afraid.
I like Terence, but some of his philosophies are dangerously radical, that an average person will take wildly out of context. The point being that In an imperfect material world, there is no way of achieving perfection, but the ego is what allowed us to construct society, value systems, and social hierarchies. The boundaries that Terrence are referring to is the boundaries that separate the truth for what it is in itself and the appearances of what seem to be true through the production of consciousness and our capacities to interact with the environment. This is why he always refers to the mushroom as a "conscious expanding tool" it's not in zeal of creating a utopian society, but rather constructing an ethical foundation in the practices of discovering natural mechanisms, philosophy, and how it is all co related thru natures production of consciousness.
sameritaco by not being suicidal. I remember in an acid trip I wanted to kill myself because I thought I wouldn't make a difference in this fuck of a world anyways but it's besides the point, you're down here on earth to the experience a life time in this sacred machine/temple.make it count, experience experience, go for a walk in nature, smoke a joint, observe, experience, be, experience, be. Just move with the light inside you rather than staying in the darkness, that boring flat unescapable part of your mind is only there to show you the other side of things. All out just be, JUST be.
I would say the idea of eternal recurrence/eternal return defeats the concept if suicide. That is to say that when you die, you will relive the life you just had. All possible 3-dimensional states of the universe will pass in the absence of your conciousness and eventually gravity (or whatever the governing principle of the universe is) will reorient the all the matter in the universe back into the situation that brought about your conciousness. You don't want to be commiting suicide again and again for all eternity. You want to get out of a bad situation and live a life that is worth living for all eternity. This requires a causal mode of thinking, a rejection of conventional free will and the ability to deal with chronic deja vu. When it comes to tripping, simply don't dose up untill the *conditions* are right. Conditions (set and setting) are very important. Make sure you are physically healthy. Particularly the lungs and heart, you don't want to have a panic attack and think your heart is going to suddenly stop beating. Get excercise. Make sure that socially, everything is OK with your friends and family. Do lots of reading before you trip and don't do it too often. Philosophically, stay away from solipsism, it is a deadly trap when it comes to psychedelics. Rememeber that you took a drug and it altered your brain chemistry. Keep reading good philosophy and science. Do things that you love and remember life is short.
Don't be a afraid to call out the truth even if it means threatening someone's self image. The truth is more substantial then protecting a delusion of identity and personal importance.
what if we go like the jeohva witnesses knocking on doors and telling people about cannabis and mushrooms for starters....and then on april 20 we shoul put joints on all mailboxes!! but i guess ill just keep dreamin'
Do it! Start a movement! Nobody's gonna do it until someone else starts doing it, but make it a thing and you best believe people will get onboard. Be that person who starts it. As Gandhi said, you must be the change you wish to see in the world. It applies as much to this as anything else!
This man! Suddenly I see myself a bit more clearly! Rewind to age 17: LSD "attacked my ego boundaries" !!! And I fought tooth and nail against this siege, I didn't understand why I should take LSD in the first place! For me it was mostly curiosity! Hmm well...can I meet this man ? If yes...I want to go with a sitter to somewhere to sort out the mess in my brain....!!!!
the thing is, that there are really two things going wrong in this world. one is everything mckenna talks about, our ego driven counsciousness/self awareness. the second is, that there is outright evil. there are nice people, living in their own little worlds, with no clue about meditation and all the secrets of the universe, but they do not intentionally harm anybody. they simply happen to be the sheep in a global game played by insane, bizarre egomaniancs and freaks. and this is only getting worse i believe. i do not where to start, when voting for trump is reslly the most forward thing we can do right now. i dont feel like occupying my brain with all of this. i refuse to be a part of the majoritys view of life, i refuse to put myself, my ego, my fears in the center of my ecperience. i dont want to know about the game they play. whatever happens, its wrong anyways.
whats scary is I actually understand him have been into McKenna now going on 3yrs but bohemian counter culture since Kerouac over 20rs or so ago his top shil think for yo self
10:39 Topic I'd really like to see where humanities thoughts are each day. A visual of the big data we shit out each day online. Where should we direct our thoughts?
And Terence certainly was no egotist. And it wasn't Wasson that re-discovered psylocibe. It was Evans-Schultes, running around S.A. with coca leaves and native boys looking for good rubber sources and dosing with tribal chiefs that re-discovered da shroom.
I love what terence has pioneered, but the more I relisten to everything, the more he feels out dated. like he is no longer relevant in influencing the future.
This is the internet, I should have been a lot clearer. As an introduction to the whole ethos of spiritual distillation, mastering you ego, trusting yourself, understanding culture and being pragmatic of your role in society. He is LOUD with his message, which was appropriate for his time. It was essential. As a global economy we are shifting to a mindset for more tolerenance and very little room for his flavor of message. I don't mean to be so reductionist, he's been incredibly influential to me, but he's like my old samsung S3, perfect for the times, but there are new hardware with more efficient software.
+Miguel Ayala I would argue his message is still very relevant today but I agree that his presentation may be a bit outdated. Still we can learn so much from his talks and perhaps share this information under a more inclusive and all encompassing light. In fact, with all the dispute and controversy out there today, I believe such a message of mutual acceptance through self-discovery would be widely received.
