I don’t know why but I loved hearing Jermaine say “surprise little brother I’m here too.” The series didn’t give us many flashbacks with them as a family and never fully explored J+F’s sibling bond. It makes me so happy to see them together.
At the very least we know Jermaine cares about his little brothers. He only ever showed jealousy when he thinks his father wanted him to become a demon hunter while the two are free of these burdens but he let go of that negative feeling already. He never alienated the two despite them not fully the biological children of their parents and accepted jake as his parasitic half brother and even said that if his father didn't gave him the advice to take care of Jake in his down time, he will still do so in his own volition.
I really like how Joshua went through the trouble of having the rope cut around the knot, just so he could show Tiffany how bad of a knot it really was.
Sort of like the show itself. Adventure Time is over, but also it's not. It just reincarnated into Distant Lands. And now it's reincarnating into Fionna and Cake. And who knows what else it'll become afterwards?
jake’s probably seen him already, they’ve both been dead for a long time, so they’ve probably met or something. or maybe there’s still sleeping and dreams in the dead world, and that’s how they can communicate
0:12 - 0:16 imagine having her as a mother, just casually hands you weaponry and calls them "treats" lol, her idea of protecting her kid is making sure they can protect themselves. I respect that
@@ayyyayaythen said kids who have a mother like just casually put the gun away. Like from the moment of birth (after a year) they were taught gun safety, the concept of death and the concept of life being bad and good and that they should enjoy the innocence they have now oh and possibly defend it
I'm glad Jermaine is finally happy. He'd really gone through a lot in life because of all that dad baggage, and when we last saw him he was just coming to terms with really LIVING. It looks like he got some real peace.
Man poor Jerome. Ignored by his siblings and called “worst Jake”. Probably best he doesn’t reincarnate or he’d come back as a widowed father to a son with emotional issues or something (not that it’s a bad thing. Just harsh)
This felt nice. Tiffany had built up such a complicated relationship to both Finn and Jake that he was practically a 4th brother. Good to see the parents accept him too. Feels like the proper ending for Tiffany's character.
I know a lot of people were upset about Jermaine not interacting much with Finn and Jake, but it felt a little more fitting. Obviously he was happy to see them because they’re his brothers, but he was never as close with them since they were doing different things. Jermaine just wanted to relax and paint while Finn and Jake wanted to go adventuring. He didn’t do much this episode because he’s not a fighter like the rest of his family, he’s an artist, which felt a little more fitting. I was honestly fine with Jermaine in this episode. I feel like he was consistent and they weren’t too mean to him. (Yeah Tiffany said something mean to him but he’s Tiffany and he’s got a lot going on).
Honestly I feel like the whole family dynamic is a pretty underwhelming given how this is the first time we’ve seen Finn interact with them all together physically, Finns relationship with jermaine specifically has always been mid and treated like an after thought. (The episode where he and Finn go to space find jake is one of the only exceptions and one of my favorite episodes don’t @ me) However what keeps it from hurting too much is the fact that the story is mostly about adventure time and Finn and jake specifically. Animation takes time and money and the episode couldn’t go on for as long as we wanted; giving time to their family as a whole makes sense for the characters but would be a detriment to the flow of the story consider the 3 of them are barely in it or remembered by anyone except the deeper fans. I feel like what saved it a ton is the fact that it takes place a bajillion years in the future. Finns the fish out of water here, not jake. My headcanon is just that everyone else all had their tearful reunions when they made it to the afterlife before him. By now everyone’s so mature, connected and “zen” to the point where all that baggage had been cleared up. Similar to what you said but in addition jermaine, and their parents didn’t even raise or spend as much time with Finn as jake did. Jake was the most important loss to Finn and was literally the main thing on his mind, Of COURSE he’s gonna prioritize that over everyone else. Is it a little harsh? Yeah. Is out of character or unrealistic? No. Finn says a similar thing about prismo’s friendship with jake. Not everybody’s equally as close with each other, it can be bummer sometimes but just because you may prioritize one person over another or have favorites doesn’t always mean you flat out hate them or don’t care about them or anything. By this point and honestly even back then, jermaine and the parents all seem to have a strong enough screw on their head to not take something like that so seriously. It really isn’t a big deal, the dude raised and did EVERYTHING with Finn, I feel they’ve been dead for long enough to come to terms with that. I still think it sucks mind you, but, I do get it why it had to be this way.
Pretty much. He inherited his fighting spirit and thrills of adventuring/exploring dungeons from his father, Joshua, and compassion, consideration, and love from his mother, Margaret. If you pay attention you can see the parallels
Tiff was such a complicated character I really believed need more screen time in the Jake related episodes when the show was still running. I'm really glad that he got a happy ending, even though he only got it after he died.
let me guess, he only died on episdoe called ant dental whatever called he was eaten by giant worm i thought he would survive but i guess they killed him off i feel like rebecca suger and adam muto ruined some characters
if it was pre-losing finn, martin and joshua would've gotten along fine and im sure early martin would've been happy to know finn is in good hands. If it's post-losing finn, joshua would beat the shit out of martin
I don't like how calm everyone is when meeting Finn in the afterlife, especially his parents. Like it's been how many years since they last seen their kids and they don't even shed a tear.
I think everyone’s pretty chill about reuniting with loved ones in the afterlife. Maybe it's just an attitude that develops over time the longer you're there.
Finn and jake are not the only ones that died, his parents must have seen everyone they knew like family, friends and even enemies go to afterlife one by one for decades, they must be used to that kind of thing by now
meh, making you dead may just desensitize you a bit, or at least when you stay longer and longer. finn was emotional because he just died, jake fucking reached nirvana by being at peace so thats why he didnt find peace
Can we talk about how Jashua intentionally tore the rope at both ends FOR THE SOLE REASON OF UNDOING IT IN FRONT OF TIFFINY?? Thats a power move if ive EVER seen one
taking this opportunity to say I really like Joshua's voice, it's got that sort of trademark Adventure Time silliness to it but it still feels like a voice that a father would have and doesn't undermine any serious scenes he's in
I get that they’re Finn’s true parents for the love they bore for him and raised him, making it obvious for him to encounter them in the afterlife, but it would’ve been just as swell to see Finn’s human mother (I think the human father became a weird Demi-god or something, practically immortal) in the afterlife too. They probably would’ve seen more of each other after the finale, especially with what we saw in the epilogue.
@@jeanduresau It really depends on what you believe in that makes up a soul and ascension to the afterlife. For me, consciousness does not make up everything about the soul, but only a part of it. Very likely she only copied her consciousness into the digital realm, while the body that contains her soul is destroyed and went to the afterlife. Basically, there’s two of Finn’s biological mom, just like how there’s another Finn contained in his sword.
@@jeanduresau Of course it’s an assumption. And everything I said before was just a wishful thinking. Also, if going with your point, then we don’t know as well if the mom is considered alive and outliving her son.
It’s funny how certain words of phrases can make you recognize voices. It wasn’t until Jermaine said “we’re here” all out of breath that I recognized it’s the same actor as Greg universe
Ikr, especially in that episode where finn and jake go visit him and he gets mad at them cause he had to watch over their dad's house for years while jake and finn had no worries or responsebility and because jake was the favourite one over jermaine 😭
I wish Jermaine had more of a role in this story. I really feel like his relationship with Jake developed after Jake found out he's an alien, and they were really cute in Come Along with Me. I'm kind of disappointed that Finn and Jermaine's relationship was never really explored.
I realized something, his human mom turned herself into a computer and his dad went to a different reality, so finn would never meet his human parents in the afterlife.
its nice seeing old characters back although joshua and margaret had a few scenes in the show either way it was a nice reminisance...now i'm tearin up again...
Tiffany straight up calls Jermaine "Worst Jake". Like, the poor guy gets shafted this whole episode. Finn doesnt care hes with their parents, neither of them care when he shows up to fight death at the end. Like the poor guy. Forgotten as always
The fun will never end, it's adventure time! I hope I get to meet all my loved ones like this in the afterlife, and not unknowingly ignore one of them (poor Jermaine).
Oof, suddenly realizing Finn's human family might not reach the dead worlds (not any time soon) Martin chose to go with the comet into a "new mode of existence." Can he even die at this point? And Minerva dedicated herself to helping humanity. She'll probably stay watching over them for centuries, or even millenia. Ouch
i mean both of them are kinda immortal, moms soul is on a AI so thats forever immortal and dads in some plane of reality that death might not even exist
@@guifdcanalli that's messed, if you think about it, after Martin left the island, they never gonna be able to see each other again not even in death , like normal man and Margles
@@kuridragon9099 The history of thr Mertens family is a tragedy, a series of misleadings that broke them apart Finn drift away, Martin lost his son, his wife and himself after almost dying, and Minerva stayed behind, having to serve her people without ever knowing what happened to Martin and Finn Finn found another family, Martin was consumed with guilt and mental problems, while Minerva gave up of finding them Its pretty sad, specially that Martin was a good father who protected Finn from the Guardian, and no one will never know the truth but us spectators
Knowing how Margret and Joshua died while Finn was young and Jake passed away while Finn was still relativley young makes me hope Jermaine got to grow old with him 😢
Not to be unfair to Jermaine, as he improved in helping his siblings later in life, but honestly I kind of agree with Tiffany, lol. I still resent him for abandoning Finn and Jake to toil over a task no one asked him to do, leaving them to (presumably) care for their father in his old age and inadvertantly forcing Finn to have to help Jake bury him. To be clear, this can be inferred due to Finn explicitly mentioning that he and Jake buried Joshua behind the treehouse, Jermaine was explicitly not present, and considering Finn was 11 when the series started, it’s honestly unacceptable to do that.
I think you misunderstood. They never mention burying their parents. Also you forget Jake ran off to just dick around while Jermaine literally had to stay at their home. HE buried his parents and he was stuck in a house keeping demons and monsters away from the weapons and artifacts on their house. So you literally resent him for no reason.
@@violetshadowstone5250 Finn explicitly states in 'Billy's Bucket List', when Billy tells them about his father being alive, Finn misunderstands and says "But me and Jake buried him in the backyard behind the tree".
@@StarryOak76 I'm pretty sure he didn't say "in the backyard behind the tree", at least not in that episode, so I've got no clue where you got that part from.
@@9nikolai ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p97gdtGsoyk.html literally right there. He doesn’t say ‘tree’, I was mistaken, but he explicitly says ‘me and Jake’
@@StarryOak76 Yeah that's what I thought. So seeing as we then don't know where Joshua was buried, and considering the fact that we don't actually know when or how Joshua and Margaret died, it's safe to assume that we shouldn't be assuming anything.
I’ve always liked that Finn and Joshua are so much more alike than Jake and Joshua. They both have a very concrete tactile way of looking at the world as opposed to Jake’s more flexible abstract way of thinking.
@@catalyst539 dude…I don’t even know why we’re arguing. All I said was Jake is more abstract than Finn. I didn’t even mention Jermaine. Sure, maybe jermaine is more abstract and artistic than Jake but it has no bearing on the point I made. If I say A is more than B, you coming in saying “but what about C though!” Doesn’t matter to the point I was saying because I’m only concerned about the interactions between A and B.
