It's funny how me a Scottish lad. So much history tied to my lands had to find my love for whiskie through two Texans 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙♥️

As a proud Texan I like to think of Scotland as the Texas of The UK or maybe Texas is the Scotland of The USA. I'm not sure. All I know is I expect residents from either to be independently stubborn and mildly cantankerous bastards that will brag about their heritage to any stranger at a moments notice.

The most important thing to note from this video is that all these head distillers of so many different types of whiskey, not one of them picked a rare, expensive, ridiculous whisky. They all picked perfectly affordable and findable bottles, predominantly scotch. I find it equally amazing and fantastic that Glenfiddich 12, Highland Park 12 and Caol Ila 12 were all mentioned as the distillers favourite, they're all incredible whiskies but they're seen as just run-of-the-mill bottles that anyone can get. Maybe the time had come for us to stop chasing (and creating) unicorn bottles, and just enjoy the glorious water of life that is presented to us.

It's interesting that most of them really still appreciate the good ol' tried and true basics. Personally, even though I tasted lots of expensive single malts and blends (Johnny Walker Blue was disappointing), Laphroaig 10 is still my go-to even when I can spend a bit more.

The Ardbeg Uigeadail was my first ever whisky ever in Scotland when I was 18 studying bagpipes given to me by my instructor. I've played them for my whole life and trying this scotch really gave me confidence that I wanted to continue the art form forever because now I'll have to go back to Scotland, Isle of Islay, Skye, Fort William, a lot more times just to drink scotch.

@@m13thompson13 There is a cinnamon/allspice flavor that I get from most all Willett products that I just LOVE. I think a lot of the more pretentious whiskey fans like to crap on Willett Pot Still Simply because it is very "smooth", but that doesn't take away from all the flavors that are to be had there,.. just like most Islay Scotches go down "smooth" but they are certainly NOT lacking in flavor. If Willett Pot Still is too low proof, then try Rowan's Creek. Kentucky Vintage, or Noah's Mill,... ALL awesome Willett distillery whiskies in my opinion. Of course if you can get ahold of the Willett Family Reserve 4 Year Rye,.. then that is like a little piece of heaven on Earth!

Funny I was watching this video after cracking a bottle of highland park 12. Was really cool to go through the smelling and tasting experience with them.

First guy's voice sounds like a mix between Robert Downey JR and Nicholas Cage.

Gonna be honest, when I lived in Germany and got the chance to drink some Highland Park 12, it tasted like death, made me feel like one of those dudes who wears Viking jewelry, and want a refund. But, in the words of the Whiskey Tribe, "it ain't wrong if it is in the glass." To each's own.

Imma say none of us because they did such a good job of explaining why they need them (with the craft distillers taking a big blow with the pandemic & all) and they're really funny, especially when compared to the entertainment value of bland RU-vid ads.

I'm totally surprised that all of the American Whisky people loved Scotches so much. Can't say I blame them though. Good show!

I understand about looking for higher ABV because I'm a REALLY BIG FAN of higher ABV REALLY DARK ales, porters and stouts. In truth I've only recently started appreciating hard liquors, mainly whiskeys and bourbons. The one that really got me interested is Tin Cup whiskey. If I could ever find and afford it is Horse Soldier whiskey. I would really love it you could try it so I could experience it vicariously through you on RU-vid.
