Thank you so much prof.WAHIB for your effors in injury time 94' I am still confused with giving feature of a vowel, Let me take an example of [i], is it correct to describe it as (-back -low) or (+front +high) or (-back -mid) instead of -back +high . Or we have to descible a vowel [i] as : +high -mid -low -back - central -rounded +tense . Do we have to respect the orderly of this features?
@dr.mohsinewahib9023
@dr.mohsinewahib9023 3 года назад
The order is meant to be respected... [i] = +high - back - round +tense

Is that mean if (in the exam ) if we give to front vowel (+front ) instead of -back u consider it false answer ???

This is a phonetic convention that is meant to be respected..

As i have understood ,to indecate that a certain vowel is mid low one you write (-high ) feature example of 'c' vowel . tell now everything is clear but what about mid high vowel, like 'o' vowel, would it be described as plus high , or -low !!!
@dr.mohsinewahib9023
@dr.mohsinewahib9023 3 года назад
the vowel "o" is a mid back rounded vowel
