This is all fascinating (and it must have been a LOT of work to figure this all out!).

Szostak has demonstrated that RNA is highly favored in replication. I assume this is under "normal" laboratory conditions approximating current conditions on earth in terms of temperature, pressure, ph and salinity. He then asks if this favor towards RNA would be shown to extra-terrestrial life forming on other worlds. The answer would seem to be in changing the previously mentioned laboratory conditions given the improbability of these prevailing on other worlds and given how much these factors can change the reaction rates of chemical processes. The answer to Szostak's question should therefore be sought there. In general I think we need to look outside easy to work with current terrestrial conditions if we want to understand early pre-biotic conditions from which life can form spontaneously from geology.

The entire problem you have is rna cannot exist without dna and visa versa. They have to have both come into existence at the same time. It's the same problem with all of the physical world. It is so interdependent.

Its RNA because there is no other story to tell. I would like to hear how RNA didn’t react with itself and degrade in your story and how DNA was created from a RNA world when proteins are first required to make DNA.
