The body shops here where I live, 95% of the vehicles have front end damage. Definitely supports your theory.

Hey Dustin I recently found your channel here on YT and loving your content. I'm a former Long haul driver with over 12 years experience but never did tow work. You guys keep the industry running when crap happens to us drivers. Stay safe and I'm subbing to your channel now :)

Yeah once he got on scene he determined both vehicles can be told by one truck I would have went ahead and took both the vehicles to the yard more money in his pocket left you clear for another call rookies😢😢

I drive a Rollback and I almost exclusively use a dogbone setup (for the bed ofc) I’m curious why you prefer the o-ring straps (I’m not criticizing ofc every driver has there preferences). Also I’m wondering why we don’t see you drive onto the bed; I might have just not seen an episode where you do, but on a car like that Kia I would have driven it onto the bed (again not criticizing just wondering if it’s a you preference or if it’s a Texas law or company policy. Great content btw I love the chest mount and would love to see more of the 360 cam. Stay safe out there!

I don’t use the 8 point straps for everything because we work a lot of wrecks, and having them laying on the deck gets in the way and risks getting damaged when you have wheels missing or they don’t go straight up the deck. I’d probably use them if I only did normal towing. Plus the sun in our super hot summers bake them and make them brittle. As for driving them on the deck, it’s never a good habit to get into, and most companies have policies against it. Figure out the brakes or something have failed and you’re going to have a big problem that you wouldn’t have to worry if it’s hooked to the winch. Best habit to form, is never drive customer vehicles for any reason, unless it’s absolutely unavoidable. A little extra work will save you a lot of money.

@@Towtruck_Dustin I’ve found that slacking the rear straps and setting the ratchet off the edge of the bed protects the ratchet for the most part except like you said on recovery’s. But I’m going to buy some of those diamond weave straps you have and see how I like using o-ring straps over (as you call them 8 point straps) and I will say I do in large part running vehicle tows but for me I find it to be a thin line between driving a car onto a bed and winching. For example I winched an 09 f150 that was super rusty and was getting taken out of a spot it had been in for 3-4 years it ran and supposedly drove but I decided to winch it instead for a few reasons like the brake line condition. Long story short from winching the truck using large J-Hooks around both a arms a-arms (because I didn’t trust small j-hooks in the frame) and pulling it around a corner (with steering and in neutral ofc) up on the bed and dropped it off at a shop… about a day pasts and I get a call from my dispatcher saying the guy I towed yesterday has fluid on the ground and was upset at me for winching his truck instead of driving it up like he wanted and told me to pay for a new steering rack - so I find it to be a catch 22 winch and take a chance of something cracking or drive and take a chance of something failing. (I know I said a lot right there but my point is I find if I know what the issue is and I have space to maneuver if needed, I find driving to be better than putting stress on a part the typically doesn’t have stress on it). In conclusion the customer threatened to take us to court where we would have likely won but it was easier and simpler to give him 150$ to get a new rack. And now I carry disclosures for people to sign when I know something will break and I don’t go out of my way to do something for a customer if I know it could raise the chance of that thing breaking at all like trying to shuffle a car up the deck and trying to get it off to the side farther. Again like I said fantastic content, and this is just my experience I’m not criticizing how you do your job ofc.

What’s the big deal of leaving oil dry it’s absorbing everything we leave it and don’t ask if they want us to clean it up and Justin could have got both waste of time two trucks

Where I live tow truck drivers do not have to clean up fluids, that is the job of the Police on scene.

Most place you don’t but since it’s a contract that can be ended with pd’s and the state (that make so much money) most companies want to help the pd as much as possible to be on rotation more
