This District Attorney must also be investigated. I find the way he calmly inserts false assertions into the coroner's report troublesome.

He had a collapsed carotid artery as a result of the carotid chokehold. The cops rolled up on him and put their hands on him in the first 20 seconds. No questions or tests to attempt to figure out if the 911 call was justified. This is disgusting because it is so obvious they need be locked up and aren't.

No injuries? Elijah died! No injuries to his neck? There don't have to be injuries to his neck for the blood circulation to his head to be impeded (chokehold). It doesn't take much to injure a brain or a person's heart if you interrupt blood flow through the artery. Sometimes it can be done without even bruising the neck. Does the District Attorney NOT CARE that the cops had no business stopping Elijah in the first place? The DA doesn't even seem to care that Elijah, an innocent person, is DEAD. Does he not care that ONE of the possible options the coroner listed on the cause-of-death report WAS that that cops' actions might have caused the death? He avoids even talking about it. This DA is as cold-hearted as the police officer who put his knee on George Floyd's neck, as cold-hearted as the police officers who went back to the site of Elijah's death and snapped a laughing photo of the moment. He's part of the problem.

The DA needs to be fired. Probably investigated for a mountain of corruption. The cops should also be fired. As well as charged with brutality, murder, felonious assault, corruption, dereliction of duty and possibly obstruction. Same for the coroner. Fired and charged for corruption and other crimes.

I did Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu for 2-3 years. And I was "choked out" a number of times (anything from a rear naked, guillotine, triangle, and some other chokes that I never learned the names of). NOT asphyxiated (suffocated), but rendered unconscious because the blood was cut off to my brain long enough to cause unconsciousness. That only takes about 10-15 seconds. It is easier if the person doesn't have strong neck muscles... which this kid did not appear to have. Frequently, the person being choked out will not even realize they are in trouble and not even attempt to tap out. This happens to beginners all the time. This happened to me one time when I was put unconscious by Royce Gracie with a triangle choke in a seminar he was holding here in Memphis. They (usually) just go limp. Usually. Though I have people remain tense (like they were toughing it out), but they wouldn't move, which usually clues you in that they are "out". It is part of the training (at least it should be in a responsible school) to be looking for the signs that your opponent has gone unconscious. You can be choked unconscious while you are still able to breathe. Seriously. And there will BE NO SIGN OF INJURY. No bruising, no abrasions, no sign that you had been choked out. Also, it can be kind of scary to watch someone "wake up" after being choked out this way. It can be like their brain was put on "pause". They wake up exactly, in their mind, in the situation they were in prior to being choked out. If they were tense, fearful, struggling to get/find relief, you will find them doing that as soon as they come back. I've been hit a couple times as someone jerked around and/or flailed their arms while waking up. With inexperienced people, this can seem like they are starting to fight back, even like they are pissed off. In all fairness, they can be pissed off, but they were probably pissed off before they went unconscious. I never did a study about it. People who have experienced being choked out more frequently USUALLY have a more calm awakening (probably because they are more aware of what is happening before they loose consciousness). It is often worse for someone the first few times. The scary thing about that type of choke hold is that if you hold it too long (1-2 minutes), you can cause brain damage from lack of blood/oxygen to the brain, even death (brain damage to the autonomic system). In addition to the cops apparently "looking for a fight", this is purely poor training/situational awareness. And this is why I believe that something as potentially dangerous as a "choke hold" should NOT be part of a cop's response arsenal. They usually just don't have the training and there can always be accidents (as we've seen). There are many submission opportunities from that same position that are NOT likely to be fatal (though they could lead to injury) that would be at least as effective and much safer for both parties. Especially with multiple cops on the scene. As an additional point, one of the cops kept saying, "Don't tense up. Don't tense up." Are you serious? How can you NOT be tense under those circumstances, especially if you are scared out of your mind (and apparently suffering from personal space issues)? Anyway, my $.02...

Fire the d.a. fire them all, then charge everyone involved. There is no other option

The video of Elijah pleading for his life is the one that broke me. I am so hurt and heart broken I don’t want to see anymore videos. I’ve been on the verge of tears all day and can’t stop thinking about that kid pleading for his life in every way he could think of to make them show mercy. And they talked over him and ignored every word. I had to hear his words so why couldn’t they listen to him when it mattered? Why are these cops so cruel? I keep thinking about my autistic son and how he is very different too. People probably think he’s strange and weird when he walks down the street. He’s a sweet, kind, gentle soul. Just like Elijah was. Loves animals and music and is quirky and enjoys being alone. That’s my kid. I just can’t take the horrible news like this anymore. Please let something change fast. We are heading toward a very bad place.

This story makes me cry, what makes me cry more is even though we demand justice, especially after yesterday, we get pepper sprayed and beat by the swat team even when a violin vigil goes on. This is Denver/Aurora, Aurora PD declared our protest as illegal after 7pm, then sprayed us with pepper spray and attacked us, while we demanded justice from the DA for Elijah McClain.

Who are these people that call 911 to report a suspicious person. It seems to happen every time the police hurt, maim and murder citizens. I’m a 69 yo disabled veteran and if I called 911 on everyone who looked suspicious here in NYC I would be on the phone all day and all night. Who gave the police the authority to order an injection of a drug ?? Is it a local or national law that allows this.
