Good review! I liked that you pointed out both pros and cons with both services. After further investigation I think I'm going with Landr. I also think any serious artist should go with Landr. For $89 dollars you get on Landr unlimited distribution without the hidden fees or the content ID percentage taken for every release like Distrokid offers. Distrokid also will take your stuff off platforms if you don't pay whereas Landr will keep it on but take a percentage like you've noted. Artists should be releasing at least once a month. On distrokid you'll be paying more after a year and the more money you make whereas on Landr you will be paying less if you were to release every month. That's why I think LAndr is superior for serious artist but distrokid is good if you are not serious about making money from music.

You also get some extra stuff with Landr as well! Tho I'm still massively in favour of DK since I never pay for any of the extra little things they offer so I pay half of what Landr costs. I also mayyyy be a bit biased since I'm a cheap-skate and I've gotten some pretty massive results with them so far hehe. Also! I really appreciate your comment since it was thoughtful and well-said but more importantly since it will hopefully push peeps to do some of their own comparisons and shop around a bit before jumping in. :)

LANDRs cons don’t even sound like cons at all lol $90 a year to get in all major stores plus mastering , never gets taken down even after cancellation customer service reviews have been great , keep all royalties plus mastering lmao sign me up!

Gotta agree with you. I’ve done the research and I may be moving my two bands to Landr because it seems like it is an absolute no brainer.

I am considering moving from Dk to landr, are you guys satisfied?

@@holographichotline5408 haven’t currently done it yet. But I have talked extensively with the Landr support team. If you have any questions, I would just set up a free account and chat with one of their members. You actually get a human to talk to.

@tuckerdawson

@@slim5481 actually went with CD Baby as they dropped their prices and allowed for more things in their pricing than what Distrokid offers. They are actually the cheaper option if you want all the perks. I now use their sister company Soundrop for cover songs because of the affordability with that as well.

it actually cost more to release music with Distro - if you want your branding, if you want to keep your music even if you stop using the platform, takes more money if you want to upload to specific shops... this video is biased and out of date...

Thank you for this! But doesn't Distrokid have a certain additional once-off/ final payment, if you for instance want your music to remain on platforms forever, but you're simply done as an artist or want to switch over to another distributor without having to re-upload all your music again with another distributor?
@shedsidemusic

Yes they have a one time payment of $29 to keep your music up lifetime

I heard some stuff about Distrokid and horrible customer service and even randomly ban musicians sometimes. Due to their yearly plan you'd need to keep paying forever just to keep music up. That's why i really want to get a distribution service that doesn't need the yearly plan to keep your music up. Landr so far seems like an interesting option for me
@bestfrndsclub
@bestfrndsclub 2 года назад
The customer service can be hit or miss (like almost every company that ever existed) and what anyone that got banned isn't telling you is that they paid for streams or paid to be on a playlist that is filled with bots. Spotify is cracking down on that to make sure they payout as little as possible and since they don't deal with artists directly they hit up the distributor who then has to deal with it. Anyway with that rant out of the way, if Landr seems interesting to you then just go with it. Start releasing music and actually growing your career. You can always switch up distributors down the line. They are just companies providing a service not a record label locking you into some ruthless contract. :)

I’ve been using Distrokid since 2017… and… I think Distrokid worked extremely well as a broke young kid who just wanted to release music without really thinking about much else. As I’ve become a professional musician and now make some money off of it (with plans to do much more, moving forward) I’ve outgrown what distrokid does. And I’ve come to realize how much better Landr is for meeting my needs long term The Jump in price is steep but… as I’m creating multiple tracks a month now… I’ll be paying more for distrokid than I would for Landr within a year Id say distrokid is for literally 90%+ of all amateur artists and musicians out there Landr would be for professionals who will inevitably build quite the discography

@calivali2876 This is kinda a late reply to your comment, but how has your experience been with Landr over the past year?
@calivali2876
@calivali2876 10 месяцев назад
@@garygohmusic Landr was amazing for me when I was using it to its fullest potential. That is releasing commercial songs every month to collect royalties and track where it’s all coming from, aside from commercials. I’ve stepped out of the music industry but because I did Landr, all my royalties will still keep coming to me no matter what. I drop Landr and I’ll still receive my checks. That being said, I honestly only believe it’s useful if you have the income to purchase it. If you don’t have income coming in, you’re over paying for a hobby. If you somehow manage to make good money off of it… I believe it’s better. Just being able to keep your songs live is worth it (Since on distrokid it’s like $45 per song)
