We killed poor David's voice at download last year. It was more like dustload. Looked sick seeing a pillar of dirt rise into the sky from the pits though
There's crazy story of Celine Deon going months without speaking. This was when she was Insanely huge after titanic and shit.. I just remember bizarre stories like that, that was just insane to hear.. then you hear her vocals alone and you understand.. it is a delicate instrument that is insured for God knows how much.
Great that he's honest. No Drugs, Vape or Smoke all that does major damage to your Vocal Cords! Caffeine not as bad, but has side effects on a vocalist/Singer!!!
@@jvdduynGo there and save those children. Or better, why aren't you demanding that the HAMAS surrender? Then the Palestine people can go back to their lives, without war at their doorstep.
If you don't want children to die don't use them as weapons. Those children's parents decided that they wanted their children to die because they used them as human shields while holding hostages.
@@jvdduynThe Palestinians have no right to cry for their children while they are still holding the children of other people as hostages. Your double standard is ridiculous. As long as they're still holding hostages, they're choosing to kill their own children in exchange for that.
@@eamondrugeveryone uses pitch correction and auto tune to a degree. He’s talking about live vocals with no back tracking and lip synching. Everything he does live is all him.
Absolutely true. A great singer Steve Perry from Journey lost his gift of a voice. He'll never hit those high notes again. Oh, but in his vocal prime, he was unbelievable. Your voice truly is a delicate instrument. A single scream could change it forever. Vocal cords tear with stress causing nodules to grow. Joan Rivers is an example of what happens with chronic stress and overuse of the vocal cords.
@@jasonw795 I'm so sick of hearing this - you have no idea what you're talking about. He's used it before (and was upset that he had to, but he was sick), but more importantly, if you think autotune makes people into good singers? Why don't you go do it? *Because good pitch is one of the easiest things about being a good vocalist.* Sounding good is so much more than that.
I am 70 and just came across this band and find his voice incredible. Im not surprised he nurtures and takes care of his vocal cords wouldn’t you if you had his talent
I’m turning 73 soon and I play this song every day, multiple times. His voice is outstanding and I sing along with him in my home where I can play it very loud and sing along with him. It charges me, it helps me get stuff done, mundane chores, but, hey….I tell people I’m a rock singer in my home! My giant dog, a Newfoundland dog, Nada Bear just rolls her eyes at me! This senior lady still loves to play music so loud….my ears ring! I’m a rock star in my little grandma car too! Everyone, have a wonderful day! 💕😊 Nada Bear says “boof!”! Carol and Nada Bear 🐾🐾🐾💕
I went to Power Trip, both Axel and Brian Johnson threw out their voices in the first 1 or 2 songs. I spent literally thousands of dollars on tickets and air BNB. The experience of the concert was great and size of crowd was amazing and support for metal, but both of them going out like that brought it all down to a 6/10 show in the end. Thanks to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden there was still an incredible show to be seen. I suspect Axel and Brian probably both didnt prepare nearly enough or had too much to drink. It was a total disaster 🎉
You nailed it with your comment! It's important to him that his performance is perfect for his fans! He really is a great man and his vocal range is AMAZING!
No wonder he's so precious when talking to his audience. They're probably the most person to person human interaction he has much of the time. Great man!
Iv'e heard many other metal vocalists say similar things with regards to their diet and health. They have to be 100% every night, or the concert suffers greatly
David is literally my reason to fight through addiction! Me and my wife have been clean for over 13 years now half of those years were medicated. Now I can gladly say that they don’t take any medication and they said I couldn’t do it. They said I would never be able to get off of what I was on That I’d always have to dose to get through my day! Wrong because in the darkness that feeling of needing more shines through! Thank you so much David and the rest of the band disturbed. You all have literally helped me through so much stress so much anxiety so much addiction so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys. I will continue to come to to come to your concerts, as long as give me hope for future.😢❤❤❤❤
@@agbobier2657 ty for the compliment, but I’m not strong just harden by life’s bad decisions and the governments dope! But anyone can get clean it’s staying clean that’s the hard part!!!ty again have a great weekend
@@unchainedraven1jt8congrats bro. Do you ever worry about trusting that your wife won’t go behind your back n relapse without you knowing? It’s extremely hard for one addict to get clean, let alone 2 together. A lot of the time one will remain a junkie. I don’t think u could have remained in a relationship. So you obviously have great will power
I'm reminded of that scene in the movie Rock Star, where the main character, Izzy, meets Bobby Beers for the first time, and Beers rattles off a list of all the strict disciplines that he adheres to as a member of Steel Dragon. I thought he was just being ridiculous and snobby, but when I listen to Draiman, I realize just how accurate they were with the portrayal of Beers' lifestyle as a vocalist. For better or for worse, now I want to go watch that movie again.
I love hearing about this side of the reality. Everyone glamorizes the lead singer as the face of the band and it’s refreshing to hear a total downside for a change. Singers really do have it different than the rest of the band bc their voice is their career.
I discovered David only recently with the "Sound of Silence" I am 78y and I love the warm voice of this beautiful soul of a human. Yes when he sings "Sound of Silence" his tone enters your heart, and I was unable to stop it. Not that I wanted to stop it, I wished for to go on and on and on.❤
Sir, your version of THE SOUND OF SILENCE is the Most Riveting and Soulful I have ever heard ‼️ I Can Not Just Listen To It Once ! But Over and Over Again ! Thank You !
@@sandraleigh4023 no, but I'll trust objective scientific proof when I see it. Which is what I shared earlier. People don't like hearing evidence that someone they like is cheating, though.
@@sandraleigh4023 my hobby is exposing singers that use auto tune using scientific proof. Sounds like a good hobby to me, but if you like fake vocal recordings, cool.
If I remember correctly, he damaged his vocal cords years back through over consumption of alcohol so now he's on a special diet and goes through a special routine to maintain his voice.
Thank you for your sacrifice.. your music has saved me more times than I can count. When I was younger your voice got me trough my days. I could never express in words how much the music disturbed put out helped. Everytime you feel alone you are not. You thought me that..
At a place called harpos in Detroit MI David helped me and my buddies art help his brother in a wheel chair up some stairs to get out of the venue literally picking him up to carry him up stairs. Then he hade a small talk with us a group photo and was out. He is an awesome man.
This is one of the most beautiful souls I've ever met he stands for so much and is a literal monk and advocate for mental health if you can see them live Its truly an amazing experience!
This makes sense. As I started learning to metal scream, all I could think was "these dudes can never get sick or drink, because they'd never be able to do this"
David never ceases to amaze me. He treats his God-given talent as the rarest of gemstones that his voice is. I’ve never been a huge metal fan, but I could listen to David sing all day long. I think the fact that he takes his craft so much to heart also makes Disturbed music reach across the genre, and generational, aisles. I sincerely hope to see them live some day.
David you are a treasure. I love, respect, and admire you. Never feel alone. When i feel alone youve always been there for me. You have always said in your music that its alright to feel what you feel and validated me. We all go to your shows man because you speek to our souls. We are connected. You are our voice. Your music our weapon. God bless you. God bless disturbed. God bless RocknRoll.
As a Singer, I can 100% confirm all of this. Vocal chords are extremely delicate. You need to take loads of care. While all the others are drunk, I drink filtered water all night long.
What a great man! This shows that you cannot judge a book by its cover. An inspiration for young aspiring singers They can play his cover of sound of silence at my funeral.
Being a rock star or even a lounge singer has always been a fantasy, so I do sing what I consider a lot, BUT singing for two hours straight and sounding amazing the whole time is art.
You are so right ! People just don’t realize how much it takes to be the singer ! And just how much energy and preparation it takes to get yourself ready to sing for two hours a night
Interesting. He said, for those singer who still sing live. Makes me wonder how many singers don’t sing live. I respect him even more hearing this. A true artist. I love their music.
That's a very intelligent man with integrity and self-discipline. The book of Provers says that a man who can control himself is mightier than a man who controls a city.
I just saw Disturbed live this month. What an incredible show... and my respect for him just keeps growing. During the height of the pandemic, I discovered the song The Light. That particular song spoke to me and my struggles in such a way that my first and only tattoo I have is a half and half split moon and sun that I drew with a single sentence quote around it. It reads: "Sometimes Darkness...Can Show You The Light". Please keep making music that speaks to our souls, David. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
You are a legend. Thank you for taking care of yourself for your fans. We would hate to see that you could no longer sing. I am sorry it causes you loneliness. ❤️❤️❤️
A lot of the singers realize that after they’ve heard themselves on live tapes and after partying and not only that for the morning course, it’s just a travel around the little bar scenes, but his voice hurts if he parties too much it actually hurts disturbed has a pretty show I’ve always liked him. I did not know that that was happening to him, but sounds like he’s got it down because they do sound good.
Ahhhh…For a man who is from Brooklyn, New York… David has the most calming, soothing, beautiful speaking voice I’ve ever heard. I would pay to have him read me the dictionary.
He treats his voice like it's an instrument. He respects it, oils it, maintains it. And that'd why he's easily one of the greatest singers. And one fo the widest ranges in any genre
