Jamal...Please post and react to the Live version with Disturbed and Myles Kennedy in Houston. Myles is the Art Garfunkel to David Draiman's Paul Simon. Myles voice is OUTSTANDING! I wish they would do a studio recording of this version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H3By4DZyTNM.html
Dude, it doesn't matter how many times I hear this, I can't help but get tears in my eyes...his dam voice gets me every time...not many can do that to me 💪🤜🤛
Congratulations, you have just witnessed one of the best vocalists to ever perform in history, David Draiman has a voice and range that any other vocalist would kill for. Disturbed as a band is also incredibly talented and the reason why they chose to cover songs like Land Of Confusion and Sound of Silence is they believe music is a weapon. They believe people can be reached through music to be used as a weapon to change the world for the better. I have been a fan of Disturbed since 2000 when I first heard their song "Down With The Sickness", some of their albums have been better than others, and some of their songs will be timeless classics including this cover. I firmly believe Disturbed belongs in the R&R Hall Of Fame, or at the VERY least David Draiman himself.
Of all the songs or albums you have listened to, which one would you consider your personal favorite? And do you have a list of, like, top five or top ten in both categories?
@@sethkraai9075 As for my personal pick to their best song (non-cover) ever? Down With The Sickness, that song defines an entire genre of music, and just about everyone knows it. That drum beat at the very beginning is the literal definition of primal and it's damn perfection. As for my top 10 Disturbed song picks? *Listed in no particular order: 1. Down With The Sickness (Uncensored) 2. The Vengeful One 3. Indestructible 4. Inside The Fire 5. Stricken 6. Ten Thousand Fists 7. Land Of Confusion (Genesis Cover) 8 . Remember 9. Decadence 10. The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel Cover)
I've watched your reaction to this song several times... it's like watching it with a dear friend. Although we've never met, you have become a part of my home... Bless you Jamal...
Goosebumps! He sustains notes with such discipline and intensity. It is so refreshing to hear vocalists respect a note rather than what I see is a unfortunate in too many vocalists these days who flutter through a variety of notes.
I saw an interview of Draiman. If I recall correctly...his grandfather is someone of great stature within the larger Hebrew community. I believe in Israel. Apparently his grandfather rejected him when he left the Yeshiva to "do metal". His parents apparently said "meh". A bit more accepting I suppose.
I was gonna mention his training if no one else had. Thank you. His range and quality of his voice is due to his extensive training to become a Cantor. I want to hear more like this from Draiman, but probably won't. My bet is that his training helps him keep from damaging his vocal cords.
Jamal, I'm 62 years old been playing drums since i was 8 years old . i see the love of music in your face. Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching.
I have literally watched at least 100 reaction videos to this song just waiting............for someone to FINALLY mention that the emotions on his face strike the soul as well as his voice. You nailed it. You rightly pointed out that we are brought into the song with this video. You are very astute; much respect to you.
If you're referring to the face he makes as to resemble rage, that wasn't to interpret emotion. He makes that face to allow him to add a sense of extra rasp to his voice so he doesn't damage his voice.
I feel the same way. I also feel This song and his voice was for this Time, with this virus. We Cannot stay Silent We must Fight For Our Freedom. Yes it touched My Soul to. Yes I watched a lot of reactions from people and it has the same affect on them. DAVID meant every word , not only with his voice but with his facial expressions.
@@cuddle_pay2win573 ^^^^ very correct !!!!!! a lot of people think that the "rasp" is just yelling.....when in fact its very controlled and comes more from the sinuses / nose than the throat. Otherwise he would cause a lot a damage. Nice catch !!!!!
I have noticed, every reaction I have seen, the reactor always is in silence afterwards, so appropriate!! And I the beginning, they don't catch the actual 'sound of silence' great stuffs. Much love&respect sir!
One of THE best covers of a genius song ever done. The icing on the cake...? Paul Simon himself endorsed Disturbed making this version, and he loves it.
Yes! The Genesis version is my husband's favorite because hes a big Phil Collins fan and my favorite is Disturbeds because they are one of my favorite bands.
My favorite version of this song! I get goosebumps all over every time I hear it. And I’m not a metal fan but damn this guy’s voice is so haunting ✌🏻❤️
All I can say is the sound of silence some times feels good when your on your own and you can listen to a voice like this I was a big fan of Simon and gartfunkl in Ireland in the seventies when I was a young girl but this man just but this lovely song to an new l level wow
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turn my collar to the cold and damp”, I mean, come on. Who writes like that anymore. I love that mine. Paul Simon was a wordsmith. He was so so deep.
Nah, just how amazing this cover version is proves how serious Disturbed took making this cover song. There's just so much emotion in the images and in his voice. Its amazing no matter how many times you hear it.
He said in interviews that he had smoked some cannabis and had extra time in the studio and the producer suggested singing the song, and it was recorded in hours... wow.
Cannabis seems to help my guitar playing at times, and B-Real's rapping, so I'm not surprised that it helps out David's singing here, although I'm sure he must've had plenty of water. Hard to sing like this with dry mouth.
Thank you for paying such close, rapt attention to this beautiful, powerful interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel's song....also, thanks for the awesome, pristine audio!!!
This is on point, I can't express how much I think you'll enjoy reacting to these as they all have really deep lyrical meaning to them and that seems to be right up your alley.
I still remember the first time I heard this cover. I was absolutely blown away. Out of principle, I generally don't entertain the thought of a cover being possibly better than the original, but man. This gives me pause. So much power in this.
This version - this interpretation seems fitting for this time we are living in - his voice is such an amazing instrument- his range is crazy- the different textures to his voice - one is drawn into this song on a deep level - presses one to face the message
There is NO ONE like David Draiman. There is no words to how amazing he is. I love every song I have ever heard from Disturbed. Loved your reaction, too.
Goosebumps, indeed. Every. Time. Our reaction to the raw emotion is his face and voice is visceral, bordering on atavistic. One last bit of homework for you. If you haven't already, go listen to the vocals only version of this song. You won't regret it.
You are hands above every one else reacting to songs. Most, I have noticed, make it about black or white music. You, my friend, make it all about the music. I love you for that. You The Man. Keep it up, bro.
I love this song by Simon and Garfunkle and I did not think I would ever like a cover of it. I was wrong. This cover is even more amazing and heart-wrenching than the original. Goosebumps, tears, and complete awe.
I love your style💕💕the backdrop so clean and unique ..a notch above the rest, for sure 💕💕 The placement of the video .. perfection . Just the right amount of engaging with the viewers. I wouldn’t change one thing💕💕You’re a winner🏆🥇
Jamal, Jamel, whatever your name is. I love your shit dude, keep doing what you're doing. Nothing brings me better vibes than other people listening to good music, and you're doing that.
I saw a comment where I first heard Disturbed's version, where it was said that S&G's version was a warning to us that silence in the face of that we know is wrong, would lead to our demise, while Disturbed's version was an expression of rage at ignoring the warning. A better summary I could not write...
There are some singers whose range is such that they can sing as high as they can sing low. This guy's vocal range is very wide and his voice is simply chilling in it's power. I never get enough of this song by this person.
I am a little bit late to the party here, but I felt the need to comment. What a wonderful reaction. And the statement that the studio/video version puts you into the song, that is dead on accurate. The live version is almost a different experience. The video, oh my! That does put you right into it and you feel it *everywhere*. Wonderful commentary! Thank you. :)
Good on you my friend. I'm in my late 60s, I remember when S&G first released this song and the impact it had on people way back then. This version literally brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps all over my skin. This interpretation breathes new life to a remarkable song, performed by bloody brilliant musicians. Thank you reviewing this song, I couldn't agree more with your critique, it truly is a "Holy SMOKE" cover.
The visual element add an additional level of intensity that sucks you in even deeper. Incredible merger of the two in this version. Henk Poort, who did Phantom with Floor, does a cover of this for Floor on the same show. Henk is classically trained and has never used vocal distortion before he did this. It’s an incredible version also. You really should check it out
