On Oct. 26, 2023, Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts hosted prominent Chinese contemporary poet, painter, and critic for a distinguished lecture. DaoZi (whose given name is Wang Min) works in a style called Sacred Ink Wash Painting through which he combines traditional Chinese ink painting techniques and materials with themes infused with his Christian faith.
In his artist lecture entitled "The Spirt of Christ and Sacred Ink Painting," the artist discussed the canon of sacred art as well as the theological connections between his Christian faith and the unique medium of Sacred Ink Wash Painting.
