Dive Lights, Why So Many? 

Strobe lights can irritate your buddy on a night dive. Cheap lights will let you down. From a psychological aspect, 600 lumen or higher is my preferred choice. Twist lock lights can lock up at depth. Lights with a wide head lamp are difficult to place in a rubber loop if you want to stow backup lights on webbing. If you carry more than one light, my suggestion is to mix it up with rechargeable and disposable batteries.

Thanks for sharing. Ive been looking for a primary recreational light that could also be used for a cheap video light for an action camera I was looking at the Tovatec Fusion 1050.

Hey would you make a video on how you can secure the dive light that is attached to the bcd, so the head of the dive light won’t be dangling.

Can you do a video about traveling with dive equipment. What can you check in luggage like a dive knife for instance and proper way to setup gear for travel and tips, etc.

are the LED lights okay to run above water. I have heard that they over heat but it might just be they are used to halogen lights.

I dont see any high lumen lights. In dive shops I see small lights with 2500 and even some with 3500 lumens. Are these just sales overkill? I just dove monterey with about 3 foot visibility. it was dark green soup. I had a small 1200 lumen and a tiny backup. Would a 3500 lumen make that much difference? Its not too much larger and can mount on back of hand.

I use an Metslsub Led 5000 lumen, magnet switch. Produced 2009, still good. Burntime is 180 minutes. Backup is Hollis Led 1500, 2 O ring seals. In Norway cold dark waters i had too choose a strong light. I have had a few other lights before, but not sow exspensive than the Metslsub, the all got saltwater in by the cord, because of the everytime movement of the cord. The weak points on divelights canister is the cord, in too the lamp and out from the battery. Movement all the time on the cord makes the weak points. O, ring seals lights, if you maintaine them right, they are long lasting. Remember to clean the orings, grease them often. Talking about the bulb used in different divelights, isnt HID lamps the "new" ting after Led now?
