Hello, folks. Since RU-vid has decided to keep my previous video demonetized (because it has "strong profanity in the title or thumbnail") I've decided to release it again here with a few naughty words cut out or censored. Hopefully this one stays monetized, feel free to drop a like and comment to help spread this around and if you ever feel like rewatching, rewatch this one instead of the other. Or don't, I'm leaving them both up. Original: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-epz629R9zVE.html
The most infuriating thing is that if you strip out all the fluff and political stuff and make a few tweaks, this could be a genuinely good story. A young soldier makes a terrible mistake, is turned into a propaganda piece by opportunistic warmongers, is radicalized into committing heinous acts, slowly realizes he's in the wrong, and then uses his status as a propaganda piece to destroy his own legend. It wouldn't end the wars and he'd be killed for it, but he'd at least have a satisfying conclusion to his character arc from puppet to radical to reformer to rebel. But no, he's the author's self-insert, he has all the author's political beliefs, and thus he is incapable of doing anything bad.
@@connermckeone4915 I Am Legend, you meant? The "Are we the bad guys" moment? I'd honestly make something like the depressing downer ending, where so many of his former comrades like to believe he was performing a triple agent act, was being forced to renounce the beliefs by bad actors, or that he meant nothing of it and he was killed by the mob of his own comrades because they were secretly working for the other side. Then, a handful of them quietly express doubts about their whole belief system, and start to rethink their stance. His grand sacrifice won't solve everything, but it still does something.
I feel like Danny would be culpable to some degree for firing the accidental shots. His finger shouldn’t have been on the trigger unless he was going to shoot someone, it’s bad gun safety and irresponsible handling of a firearm. I think he would have faced some kind of sanctions, even if they’re fairly mild.
Right? Terrible trigger discipline and having his safety off when the situation didn't call for lethal force? Definitely at least cause for some mandatory retraining.
I'm just gonna remake my comment from the other video in order to generate engagement for this video and help it in the algorythm (and not at all just to try and get more likes than I did in my other comment) If the gun went off at the start after Danny was hit in the face with a rock, that means he had his finger resting on the trigger, which is shit trigger safety for someone supposedly trained by the national guard.
Yeah I don't know jack about the military or NG but I'm 90% sure you're not supposed to have your finger on the trigger. The author is supposedly a veteran but like... wouldn't they know that? Or are they implying that protestors are a valid reason to be prepared to fire at them without warning?
@@BoisegangGaming It's one of the first things they teach you at any gun safety course. Doesn't matter why you decided to take up a gun. Your finger is _always_ off the trigger unless you're intending to pull it.
Dang, I saw the alert in my feed and legit thought I'd somehow traveled back in time or that I had dreamed this review and it never happened at all. Fuck youtube. 🖕
Here's your engagement :) I mainly watch these to fall asleep to anyway (not in a bad way I do think they're interesting, you just have a nice calm way of speaking)
Those books give me the impression that they were written by someone who genuinely believes that the American Civil War was fought over states rights... which is to say, a M O R O N
Commenting for the algorithm! Also, if anyone’s interested in further brain damage from a somewhat similar, but somehow even worse, series, there’s the Homelanders Series by Andrew Klavan
One thing that could have made Danny a better protagonist (one of many things) would have been to make him actually horrified/penitent for the killing, even willing to be extradited after everything went to shit. Of course, I can see exactly why this writer would have been unwilling to give him that level of self-reflection...
Are there any crappy left wing books out there that would be interesting to talk about or that you already reviewed? Would ve interested to see that as well.
If you ever do want to read a good book again might I recommend Django Wexler's The Shadow Campaigns series, I think it's really good, and I've heard it been favorably compared to the powder mage trilogy if that sounds like somthing that you might want to look into. Anyway, more engagement for your channel.
Honestly the biggest gripe with the unbelievable shit in this series is the bit involving the air force, there is no way in hell any single state could hold off the rest of the other states due to maintenance issues alone.
Re-engagement successful. To reiterate my original comment: The main character had poor trigger discipline and had their finger on the trigger when the brass hadn't even decided to use tear gas yet. Clearly, in this case, the scenario was not bad enough for live fire, and so the main character is an idiot who was never reprimanded. Actually I think my comment this time is longer...
I just want to let you know I'm watching both of these uploads at the same time in two windows and slowly going mad at the .001s desync but I'm okay with that Edit: found the cut footage, what a gaggle of disgusting people.
I saw the title, saw the book names and looked up the books to read the description for them. Genuinely, one of the stupidest novel premises I've come across. Like, wow. I'm sorry for your braincells having to read these.
A truly American book, because in case of civil war rest of the world would just ignore, Nato would not support federal cov after nuking 2 cities and other powers would not try to manipulate one way or another, written by a guy who thinks America is the only country in the world
