Chris learns how to divide Hostas with the help of Master Gardener Cheryl Lockhart. Be sure to check your Hostas for any and all diseases before dividing and remember to water, water, WATER!
Dividing your Hostas can be a great way to proliferate these beautiful plants all around your lawn and garden. Doing this in the winter can help make sure that by spring you've got a whole family of Hostas to admire.

I love Hosta’s but they would get all day sun at my house and have burnt brown leaves sadly

My planter hostas definitely needs dividing I’m nervous but going to try my next day off

You will do fine. They are tough plants.

Done better myself. There's no need to be scared. Have everything on your work space. Saving your back. Put a small empty pot you are reporting to. Place the compost round it. Spilt you hosta with roots, like slicing a cake. depending on the size of the hosta. Lift the empty pot place 1/2 a banana and the new hosta in the hole cover with compost no air holes. Good watering

Something ate the leaves off of one of my hostas (deer or rabbit). Should I go ahead and transplant it now? To a different side of my house where the deer and the rabbits "don't roam" ? It was looking so beautiful. It is mid-June, but we still have cool weather, this year.

Bonnie Amey yes! I have the same problem. Bunnies were eating it in front of my yard. I moved them inside and blocked portions of the fence that rabbits are able to get through.

I had to get rid of all my hostas in front of my front porch because we had to fix the foundation around my house, these were in the ground..I was able to keep about 8 huge bunches of them, any advice you could give me? I want to put these in huge flower pots. 🙂

You should be able to pot them up. They like shade.
