The story goes that when this came out the boys at Spin Inn records in Manchester rang up Factory records and played it to them down the phone. Even though it was clearly inspired by Blue Monday the band New Order let it go. They were flattered.
@@samanthastephens1907 According to Bernard Sumner, "Blue Monday" is influenced by four songs: The arrangement comes from "Dirty Talk" by Klein & MBO, the octaves of the striking bass are taken from Sylvester James' "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)", the house beat comes from Donna Summer's "Our Love" and the long keyboard intro is inspired by Kraftwerk's "Uranium".
@@StefanHoyer thank you for this. now I can listen to each song. Funny how sampling was so different back then. Bobby O did rip of Blue Monday though. I used to play this song for pwople and tell them it was a new mix of Blue Monday, then Divine would start singing.
@@samanthastephens1907 You don't think passion by flirts aka bobby in 82 predate blue Monday? Same sounds lol... Giorgio moroder is the one laughing at everyone now
Temaso Divine !!, a finales de los 80 bailaba mucho a Divine por supuesto con mis tacones, mis rulos, braguitas negras y cazadora leopardo, increible tema !!, que me recuerda a otro hit...
@@Slazlo-Brovnik Joy Division ended in 1980, Blue Monday was by New Order. Also legal action was threatened but never pursued. There's an amusing live recording of NO at The Hacienda breaking out into Love Reaction during a performance of Blue Monday. Sorry bud, but your facts are all over the place.
New order were ripping stuff like this off that was out in 81/82... Bobby had desire by Roni griffith and passion by flirts out in those years which new order STOLE from.. You bunch of lemmings lol
