I know this is a bit late, but check out the video from our recent trip to Mackinaw City. We dove many wrecks, but the Cedarville was my favorite. Josh and I spent 3 dives exploring and pentrating the wreck. The first dive we found an entrace to explore, the 2nd and 3rd dives we ran lines and penetrated a few hundred feet in.
The video you're about to watch is a wreck that sunk in 1965, in about 110' of water. The Cedarville is almost completly upside down, meaning diving through the internal passages is very disorienting. You'll see a few shots with staircases going the wrong direction. The outside of the wreck was covered with a thick layer of zebra muscles, but the deeper in we penetrated, the less prevelant they became. Inside was in pretty great shape.
A few things to note, Josh and I both have ALOT of training to be able to do this sort of dive. Please DO NOT enter a wreck if you are not trained, as it is incredibly dangerous. Throughout the video you'll notice that we run a continous guideline. There are a few moments where the silt is pretty noticable, but I have a very bright, wide angled, flood light that is excellent at lighting up every susupended particle. The visibility inside the wreck was very good, so long as you maintained perfect bouyancy. One errant fin kick could put us in a 0 viz situation. You'll notice some of my shots show a very thick layer of accumulated silt sitting on the bottom of the wreck.
I am so excited to share this video with you. I am very aware that it is not my best work, but to put it simply, being inside this wreck was difficult and required alot of concentration and work. Having the camera in my hands and keeping it steady while also worrying about line placement, bouyancy, navigation, depth and deco obligations, and restrictions, challenged me like never before. I hope you enjoy what I did capture.
I don't have footage of the 3rd dive becuase it was the most intense, had the smallest restrictions, and required me to have free hands and less drag. I hope to return and take the camera with me so you all can see what we saw.
I hope you find awe, like we did, in viewing this historic time capsule of a wreck. The cold water preserves it better than a muesuem. Seeing and exploring the Cedarville was like traveling back in time.

Rest in peace to those who died on this ship. May they all be kept in our memories, and may we remember all those souls who perished on The Great Lakes.
