Diving Kwajalein Atoll- The Ikuta Maru

This video covers the history and wreck of the Ikuta Maru, which is a Japanese auxiliary gunboat and freighter that was sunk on January 12, 1944 just to the northwest of Kwajalein Island.
This wreck is usually referred to as the "P-North wreck" by Kwajalein divers, due to the fact that is about 600 yards to the northwest of the Akibasan Maru (P-buoy) wreck.

Dan, thanks for the trip down memory lane. I worked on Kwajalein from 2002 to 2003 and I can honestly say it was the best year of my life. I logged slightly over 500 dives while I was there and I have many of these photos on my walls in my home. There’s a lot of other really good wrecks which are not well know and the locations have been kept kinda quite due to the rules of not diving past recreational limits.

@@danfarnham6275 thanks! I retire after Christmas this year and am considering trying to come back to Kwaj. I already researched and found the company who has the aviation contract on Kwaj. My wife said she would love to do a year or two out there after seeing all my photos.
