Hu Yadan had turned 16 in the year of the Olympics. He must have been under a lot of pressure, especially competing with more experienced girls. She is a hero to me! Chinese are not known for being "kind" and showing "kindness". In fact, everyone I met said they were always treated strictly. Everyone deserves some love!

Props to them for courage. At our local pool, it was prohibited to jump head first from 10 m (or it was 12 m) to prevent injuries. But even jumping feet first, you would feel the pain when hitting the surface.

Maybe a lot of coaches like Hu's need to look(online RIP Miss Val) at how Miss Val used to coach her Olympic medal winning team with kindness and reinforcement they might just learn to not only be a coach but a decent human being. Whenever that many divers seem "off their game" in a row, especially at the start, it makes me think there's something unconventional about the location (board is unconventional in some way, temperature of the water or room is way warmer or colder than average, flashing lights/brightness, water level low, etc)

Am I the only one who thinks this sport is absolutely friggin insane? Imagine if they slip and hit their head on the platform, or land on their belly? That's a trip to the hospital and a long recovery period for sure, if they ever come back at all.

I'm not going to lie, I feel horrible for Hu Yadan. I'd normally expect the Chinese divers to be at the top of their game, but it seems something was wrong with Hu. Perhaps minor injury? What made me feel real bad was the coach seemingly give her the cold shoulder. I know they've got higher standards, but encouragement and positive motivation is what everyone deserves, no matter how good or bad the performance turns out to be. Again, I feel awful for Hu Yadan. I hope she's been improving

I feel sorry for the young Chinese diver Hu who was obviously going through some tough time in the beginning. Not only has her coach not comforted her, but also she seemed angry at her for not doing her best. China did a great job raising so many talented divers who all have potentials to win golds. Perhaps, they have too many that they don’t see to care to motivate those who need more mental encouragements. Only the cream of the crops are the ones they care to spend more efforts on working with.

These guys are so annoying. Always saying "what a shame." And then saying "thats how you should do it" to the other "better" ones.

i´ve just searched about Chen Ruolin on the internet figuring out how amazing athlete she is that she´s been decorated with 5 olympic gold medals though she´s just 26👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The commentators were lovely. Very constructive and educational criticism when necessary, and I really felt that they were pained with the divers at any mishap. You can tell they were truly rooting for them all; with their positively beaming attitudes. The divers were simply amazing and it was a joy to watch their beautiful performances!

I've been diving for almost six years and even though I usually compete in the 1 meter and 3 meter, what these woman are doing is phenomenal. I can't dream of any of this and I really think diving needs more attention.
