I was never really Comicsgate. In fact i had not bought a comic since the Image days. I found EVS through Star Wars, but he got me back into the Hobby. These other Comicsgate voices can't make those claims, because they weren't even on my radar.
When I first started buying comics again, because of D&C’s channel, I bought a 12 pack of crappy DC comics at Ollie’s for $6.99 or something. Funny that he mentioned Ollie’s in this stream. 46:10
I say this from a thoughtful prespective- perhaps C.G. is best left to consumers, who may be the people professionals would want to market to, not necessarily something to be submerged with. Either way I like what TUG, Zach, and EVS are doing.
No More BS Please: Ethan isn't dissing it. He was told to leave Comicsgate "to the customers" by the people claiming to be the "real creators" of Comicsgate and he abided. They were mad because they felt he co-opted "their movement" so he said he'd bow out.
Comicsgate will still exist if for no other reason than to hold pro-comicsgate creators just as accountable as it attempted to hold every other creator accountable. You're a great response to comicsgate. You've adopted the ideas behind it & poured those ideas into a product to satisfy an underserved market & that's wonderful. But you're human & 1 person & we see what happens in the mainstream industry when nobody holds creators accountable. It only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch & comicsgate will remain as the quality control that holds creators accountable when they make a misstep. That's the definition of non-linear evolution. Comicsgate remains as the quality control. All Caps & Splatto & whatever other studios/publisher spring up are the response.
Vox Day tried to monopolize CG, excluding everyone. Evs attempted to protect the name so _everyone_ could use it, even VD. Everyone has always been free to do whatever they wanted. Instead they attacked Evs until he did the mature thing and left the warmongering troublemakers within the movement to themselves. This is the opposite of gatekeeping. He always had the right to gatekeep his own channel and have his own opinions, as everyone has. Some called this "gatekeeping", which is irrational since they are free to have their own channels and opinions. It shows his critics within CG were just jealous.

Yeah digital comics dont have the same feel to them but cutting shipping cost is pretty huge when we are buying multiple comics. If comicsgate or allcaps could offer package deals that could be better but then off course it would be more constricted what we can buy. Also all physical copies need to be pirated is one person to scan it so I dont see how its that much more difficult to pirate. I think people, who appreciate what you are doing, are gonna pay while those who wouldnt pay wouldnt buy it for money anyway. But maybe thats just an idealistic view. I know that if I can pirate something then I will but if I find it good then I will pay for it. Unless I already know its gonna worth it (as is the case with these comic that I know the creator of) Also cant wait for Rainbow Brute. Every idea I hear makes me more intrigued.

Regarding gatekeeping, I suggest everyone has the right to gatekeep and manage their own platforms. There’s not one universal, objective rule which will fit everyone. One you tuber may allow anyone on. Another RU-vidd May draw the line at NAMBLA freaks. That difference is reasonable. It’s up to each individual to decide for themselves.
I never liked the term comicsgate, anything alluding to the watergate actually (such lazy slander). I'm glad you're actually building a BUSINESS. This is what I want, a place where I can buy physical copies of quality comics.
My question to the guys that had issues with EVS and his idea of judging the success of the movement based on the money pulled in, is this. What other measure can you base the success of the movement?
@Bruce Wayne What would have been the motivation for them to change unless there was something competing against them. At least from my observation the folks that are managing DC and Marvel don't care if they get a lot of critics, the only thing that was going to force change is to make them lose money and have a competitor make that money that they lost. Now as far as him disavowing folks that associate with the alt-right etc. That is his right especially since all those folks bring is destruction.
Bruce Wayne DC and marvel will never change, just like the US will never again have a small government. Things go one direction until they collapse, and then something new replaces them.
The movement wasn't about making money for a small group of people. It was about getting Marvel and DC to stop turning comics into propaganda and return to making comics for the people.

Told you months ago it was a mistake to think of Comicgate as anything else than a scandal. It's not a philosophy or a identity or a community... When creators are blacklisted THAT'S CG. When people get hired on "Oppression Points" and not merit, THAT'S CG. When books contain lazy editing, "Ask me about my Feminist Agenda" and "Unsolicited thoughts on Israel" THAT'S CG. When creators say in interviews "If you don't like my politics don't by my books." THAT'S CG. When "Pros" call consumer advocates "Assholes" in a debate and continue to punch down in their live stream, THAT'S CG.
Wow, I couldn't disagree more about the audio format. For me this is TV replacement, and was happy that people went to the extent of buying new computers and getting good cameras that you could see the expressions of the people that are talking, I know a lot of people listen like in a podcast, but for me it was more like a replacement for the liberal talk shows and pop culture video RU-vid channels that are so left extremist. The shows are really hard to watch for 2 hours when there's just an avatar of somebody a foot tall on the screen where before we could see most of the people talking and responding, just a simple form of communication that people don't talk about a lot, nonverbal communication is completely lost with audio only. You Can imply sarcasm with your expressions and you really feel a closer connection and appreciation for someone that is willing to look you, or the camera, in the eye and talk to us like human beings. The people that would never show their faces always seemed a bit like they were hiding to me, but more more people were going to video and frankly I think that is the future. I think as in most cases, it shouldn't be an all-or-nothing thing. Please consider doing at least a couple lifestreams video a week for those of us that have gotten really used to enjoying those, and then audio for the people that prefer that. And that way people can not be excluded and still get the content in the more interesting and often funny way. I love watching you guys and you being able to hold up a Rose Tico or make a gesture or two a collectible you have in your studio. So much of that would be lost, getting to know Mike and his family for example, when there's just a disembodied voice and you lose the nonverbal communication and the other things that used to share on camera, it really is a huge step backwards. I hope you, and others, get a custom to the growing trend of video especially since most people already have the equipment and continue to do it at least on an occasional basis. The Cecil reveal will be a phenomenon, and that's just one example of things that can't be done with an audio-only format. Watching the artist draw while talking... Just really so many opportunities that will be ruined. in all honesty and sincerity, I think rash decisions are being made here due to current events, and it's a natural human instinct to do that, so I think a good idea would be to kind of put things on cruise control and let things shake out rather than making such radical decisions considering the content that got you, and the fellowship, as far as it has. You never want to make major decisions when you are upset or angry if you can help it. Even if you need to take a break and let things settle down, we would miss you but I strongly support you continuing forward, and not letting others win by forcing you to change your format.

I wish you all the best with ALL CAPS but I think you’re being a bit naive if you think the people who tried to tarnish you before are going to give you a clean state because you left comicsgate. Remember, SJWs never forgive, they never forget and they don’t believe in redemption. Be vigilant and prepared, my man.
