An empty 2 QT creamer bottle (Dunkin Donut original) works great for this mix, or many things like water storage. They are squared so store well together, easy to hold, large mouth for ease of filling, and very good easy-resealable non-leaking flip top lid. Also, using a glass mixing cup allows you to warm the molasses in the micro (slightly)... mixes better. Keep a small bowl to catch drips after/when pouring. Love the repurposed funnel system.

Im pouring this over my pancakes!!.....I used to dump a pile of cracked corn near my stand. id watch bucks and does take just a few bites and move on. A friend reminded me deer are browsers. there for they wouldn't stay long. as if they were afraid to stay too long. I followed his advice by mixing molasses and cracked corn in a 5gal. bucket. then shake and spread it all over my stand area. Make them smell it out and dig under leaves.They were then "browsing" for there meal.I could tell they were more relaxed.I think they could tell the piles were fake so they would just take a few bites and walk on.When spreading on forest floor I could see up to 20 deer around me and some would even fight others for the good stuff.20 yrs of hunting and never seen a fight till I did this.A 12 pt. and 10pointer fought so aggressively they both left bleeding. And the very next day 2 does boxed it out for at least 10min. Just wanted to share this. Good job with your helper. he has so many memories coming to him. And you also.Thank you.

Just watched a video for doing salt blocks on tree stumps.....vice on the ground due to EHD (meant CWD) originating in the soil?? I think if that's the case, it might be worth exploring alternative methods for your deer attractant to keep from perpetuating CWD. What are your thoughts? (just noticed a similar comment from J Weyandt)
@NBWildman
@NBWildman 5 лет назад
Yes I often use a stump or Dead logs when the location is good for that however, where i am deer naturally find mineral deposits in the ground...they lick and eat the dirt in an attempt to get the much needed calcium, magnesium, and such during the spring...how is this different than putting a mixture on the ground??
@00_ELECTRICWIZARD_00
@00_ELECTRICWIZARD_00 5 лет назад
EHD is caused by midge fly bites and there isn’t any evidence it’s passed from deer to deer. I think your talking about CWD.

Great video 👍🏻. Do you find that the molasses jam works better than the apple jam that you make?
@NBWildman
@NBWildman 4 года назад
depends a lot on the area, apple is always good and works everywhere, the molasses is great in areas where there are fewer bears, they won't stay cause there is no food, but if you get a lot of bear traffic the deer traffic will slow...

If you wanted to thicken it up you would want to use a Pectin product. Its used in canning Jams and Jelly's and wont effect the flavor. Probably add a dollar to the cost of the mix. Sure Jell is a common name brand but there are cheaper products out there.

Isnt this is what causes C.W.D..when any of this kind of deer atractant gets. In the ground the deer are also injesting the dirt ???
@NBWildman

They claim that these scents make deer come into groups which spreads it But deer get into groups in the wild no matter what so it isn’t really that bad

Maybe i'm lazy but, As I quad to my tree stand I cut up a couple apples and throw a peace out in front and drive over them about every 50 ft or so the tires spread the scent for me.
