Nice review. I have victron system aswell but 1 important think for you. Your electric bike charger is 42V * 4,5 A = 189 watt. Plus other stuff and you said that around 265 wats is going from your 12 V 250 VA victron. But it is not 250 wat inverter, it is only marking which use victron, marketing stuff ! - You did not red Victron product spec sheet correctly. Victron 12 /250 is made for optimal use : 25°C/40°C: 200W/175W and max is 400 wats. So for long term usage you are not in range of 200 wats. Yes , now your 12 / 250 victron works, but for how long when you make him work above recomended wattage? If 400 watt is considered as 100% then 265 wats is 66,25 % You shoul rather change it to 12 / 375 victron type ( maybe 20 bucks more) which is made for this range 25°C/40°C: 300/260W and max is 700 wats. If 700 watt is considered as 100% then 265 wats is 37,85 % Put yourself a question. Is is better to run "engine" which uses everyday 66,25 % or only 37,85 % of its maximum power . Which one will last longer ? All depends what powerdraw you want to use. Cheers.

Most don't need the 170kW from the donk in their 4x4 either...but there you go. I like your "just enough" approach...smart. Less cost, smaller cables. I reckon everyone underestimates the amount of solar they install. Most days are not perfect solar weather, but they size their system on the maximum power their PV('s) claim to deliver which only occurs on a perfect sunny day with cool (25oC) panels.

I have the exact same inverter with an 80ah battery and an 80L engel fridge and 200w blanket. Like you plenty. I only got the inverter because I bought a starlìnk.

For the last two years I've running my entire house Off-grid for 99% of the time on the 24Volt-250Va Victron (200+Watts). Runs on 24v Leadacid batteries, powers the Dishy (Starlink) for the last year whenever at home (30Watt consume in Sleep mode, 120watt for a short while when getting out of sleep mode, and about 50 to 60 watt Consume during use) The Victron still has plenty of Juice left for more equipment. Like a 120Watt (actual use 90Watts non-stop) Battery charger to boost the 12V Light batteries. Or one or two laptops at the same time All in all I'm surprised how well you can run a Off-grid house in the winter with just this little inverter (just using it for Charging phones and Laptops, Internet, Music, etc. ) For the Vacuum cleaning I've a 3.000Watt German Brand Inverter, and only use it for certain short terms. The only Downside of this 250 Victron, it doesn't support my Makita battery charger.. consumes 260 Watt and it turns of during start-up

It's all about Downsizing your needs, you don't need to have a lot of stuff. Right now its running on two pairs in 24Volt of 230ah Lead-acid Deep cycle batteries. For Clarity, it's Mid-northern Europe based. Not the best Sun but average and could be worse like in Scandinavia or the Baltic states. Our House is based more or less slightly South of Berlin although not in Germany ;) The Panels we used where up till this year Cheap second hand 230Watt panels from 2008, in Series Parallel 2x230Watt 3 times (6 panels in total) Plus other panels for the 12Volt water pump, Seperate panels for the 12Volt Lighting in-house, and a 2x 95Ah 12Volt LeadAcid Deepcycle Backup system that currently runs a Chinese diesel heater for One of the Bedrooms, and has a 12-375 Victron inverter connected but not in use. All systems Use Victron Smart Solar Chargers. A 30/100 for the Main battery bank, and two times a 15/75 MPPT for the lights and the Backup system. The watertank/pump has a Older PWM charger since it doesn't demand power nonstop.

That's great, experimenting with the inverter. Looks like the sun went down for 10 minutes in the middle of the video though!!!

Victron doesn't sell equipment in watts, they use volt-amps (VA). So this 250va inverter is actually rated for around 175 to 200 watts. Kinda annoying.

It easily gives a Nonstop 200Watts. I've a 24Volt variant that still shows actual Use in Watts in the Bluetooth App. Newer/bigger models stopped showing the Consume in numbers and only show some sort of Graph but not the actual numbers. Slightly annoying.. My 250Va easily runs nonstop on a 200+ Load, but struggles when it gets over 220Watt for too long and turns itself off

@@2DC24 Yeah my 1200 unit kicks out at 1130 watts, higher than the 900-1000w it says is maximum in the manual.

I run a 350w Dometic pure sine inverter in my truck never needed anything bigger it cost me about $109 from memory, I use it touring to charge my gear and it'll also charge my Makita batteries when at work so no more looking for spare gpo's on job sites or in clients houses, and haven't lost/forgot a charger since because it never leaves the canopy..
