Nicely done! IMO: Would be better to rinse from the opposite direction of air flow. Make sure the drains in the drain pan inside of the heat pump are clean/unobstructed as well. Try and get a coil cleaner that is 'non etching'; if you use an etching cleaner on older coil fins, it could eat thru them.......I also use the coil cleaner to clean the a/c condenser/trans oil cooler/radiators on my vehicles.
my ac unit heat will blow cold air after a while. i have to turn the fuse off at the panel 5 min and it while work again but eventually will blow cold again. will this help?
Charles Martel your indoor coil should have a condensate pan beneath it, spray coil clean & rinse with pump-up sprayer, use shop vac to empty pan, it won’t have the clogging dirt as much as an outside coil. Good Luck!
My air conditioner is not operating as cold as it used to be. Haven't cleaned my coils since I got the thing 5 years ago. Would coils affect how cold the air is?
Jason Teen there are many factors as to why it doesn't cool. You may be low on refrigerants, have too much refrigerant, dirty condenser, clogged evaporater coil, bad ducts, overworked compressor, etc. Getting regular maintenance on your system is necessary to keep it working for as long as possible. By the way, this is not how you clean a condenser. Don't do this.
Yes Yes Yes... the coils need to be cleaned yearly. Coils with obstructions like dirt will overload the capacity of your unit to cool. Keep your coils clean and your AC will work for exponentially longer years than with dirty coils. YEARLY MAINTENANCE is a small price to pay for units that cost up to $10,000 to replace. Normal residential units cost between $3,000 and $5,000 and require a crane to replace them if they are rooftop. Yearly MAINTENANCE cost about $200 - $300 .... the math should be enough to convince anyone.
thank you soo much! I had an HVAC teck come out charged me $85 to tell me it's fine... which its not, its 85 in my house... I think I need to get the coils cleaned I've had this unit 9 years and never cleaned :(
Maybe but its not enough that their life will be less than the life of the whole AC unit. If you dont use a caustic solution it wont clean the coils properly
I know you said your not a pro but that unit has two sets of fins so you need to pull the fan off of the top as you should on any unit and wash the bottom oit and clean the fins from the inside out.
Very caustic 😭🤣 you could have just use dawn dish soap 50/50 and saved $4. Try some ultra alkaline coil cleaner or an acid. You can watch those fins melt😂
