G'day! Just thought I'd make a totally unplanned video of me repairing this ALDI Stirling clothes dryer. Same as some Mistral models. It was appearing to not heat up but in fact it was but the fan that circulated the hot air, it's blue belt had snapped. A very easy DIY fix that only costs $15 maximum. Hope this helps a few people. Cheers

Great video I have exactly the same dryer with the same symptoms. Glad I typed in Stirling and found this. Bungy band is on the way and saving me buying a new dryer. Thanks mate 😃

I did this repair about 2 years ago now on a Mistral Clothes Dryer, too bad this video wasn't up then when I needed this information as I found the job to be quite fiddly at the time.

Hey buddy that's great (that you repaired it), but it's always the way. You find a how to after it's done lol. But the whole process just gives you even more confidence to repair the next thing I reckon 👍 Apologies for the delayed reply. My house was burnt very badly a round the time I posted this video and now it's unlivable 😔

I have a stirling heat pump dryer that gives full error every 10 mins and restart works fine. Not sure how to fix it. Not interested to throw it away as it is just 3 years old and doing great if I can restart it every 10 mins

Thanks for the video, new subscriber here... Those older Ed56 fisher paykel dryers are they reasonably efficient in comparison to newer vented models? Are the vented ones that reverse a much more efficient dryer? Or not too much difference ? I'm just going over ours, I have a new door, start capacitor, drum belt, rear bearing, temperature sensor and mount, resoldered suspect solder joints on both boards(mainly on the relays and that diode) new venting kit, will check and lubricate the tensioner pulleys.. Should come up pretty well. Best Regards

Hi there, no problem at all and thanks for subscribing! And sorry for the delayed reply, my house was burnt very badly straight after I uploaded this video due to an electric blanket catching on fire and my life's been hectic since. To be honest I'm not really sure what you're asking because it sounds as though you think the ED56 models don't reverse and air vent? But they do. I'm probably reading you wrong lol. But just to let you know I don't personally think there's any difference between these older models and the newer ones. I'll be doing a video in the future where I give my opinion of the best dryers made. Out of all the ones I fix. The Simpson manuals, Electrolux fully automatics and the ED56's. Spoiler alert I think I'm going to choose the ED56 model. They rarely ever break down like the others and they're fairly east to repair. As for efficiency? Haha I never get drawn into that argument. All clothes dryers are basically just heaters mate, and there's nothing efficient about those. But they do have good sensors that (pretty consistently) tend to stop the dryer once the clothes are dry. Hope this helps!

@@DIYDumpRat thanks for your reply, I'm very sorry about the fire, that's terrible news mate.. I wish you the best with the rebuild and a speedy house and personal recovery! Stay strong my friend! As for the Ed 56 yes it seemed pretty well made and so far running great, it's gotta be 20 years old.. oh they do reverse, that's great, I've never watched it, I just assumed it didn't... on inspection the rear bearing was seized but the clamp plates were fine, so I was able to get a replacement for $6.. I'm still waiting on a door window as one of the little pins on it that keeps it centred is broken away, and it was leaking lint out between the door and the glass. I'm tempted to seal the new one with appliance silicone between the door and the window glass, I might do that with the new one yet, should that be ok?. On the efficiency, I was thinking the same. The reason I chose to fix this old dryer is the reviews on the new machines isn't very good, I read about Electrolux machines breaking down, lots stopping or taking too long to dry clothes.. so I think it's the right decision.. I did pull it right down even pulled the motor out to clean all the lint out of the windings and cooling fins as the aftermarket vent hose was leaking pushing lint into the workings of machine. Anyway it's now running great.. Thanks again for your videos it's been a great help.. Best Regards Stormer

Dont buy the proper sterling ones. My replacement belt broke again in a couple of days. Buy the Simpson one.

Oh wow thanks for the heads up Suzanne! Yeah hopefully the Simpson one will last a little longer. It definitely feels a little more elasticated 👍
