Hi everyone, welcome to Sherri’s Heavenly Apothecary, I’m Sherri. Today I’m really excited because I’m starting a new DIY makeup series and we will be making all-natural liquid (or mousse if you like) foundation. I’ve been meaning to make this video because I have been low on my foundation for a while but things with my job have been stressful and I’ve needed to take some time out on my time off. However, I’m so happy to be back in my studio with all of you! If you haven’t already subscribed, I encourage you to do so and come along on the journey. I’d love to have you.
Without further ado, here is the recipe as promised:
Mineral Powder Base:
1 tsp - Titanium Dioxide
1 tsp - Zinc Oxide
1 tsp - Sericite Mica
3/8 tsp - Magnesium Stearate
1/16 tsp- Magnesium Oxide
Oil/Wax Base:
1 tsp - Argan Oil
1 tsp - Jojoba Oil
1 tsp - Shea Butter
Water Phase:
1 Tbs. - Aloe Vera Juice
1 tsp. - Witch Hazel
Colorant Base:
(Now this will differ for all skin types) This is just my base. I have fair skin with pink/neutral undertones. I like a medium beige/buff color with full coverage. You want to make sure for your base you use: Yellow, Red, Brown and Black or (dark brown) to create a color base. The amounts will vary depending upon your skin tone.
Medium Beige/Buff
1 tsp. Titanium Dioxide (White)
7/16 tsp Turmeric (Yellow)
1/64 tsp Beet Root Powder (Red)
4/64 tsp Black Walnut Hull (Dark Brown)
3/64 tsp Cinnamon (Brown/Red)
*Additional Cacoa/Cocoa/Carob Powder until reach desired shade
Instructions:
1. Blend mineral powder and colorants in a coffee grinder to a fine/smooth powder (there should be no clumps of powder all should be finely ground).
2. Put oil phase on the double boiler and melt thoroughly.
3. Combine oil phase and mineral powder and colorants together, mix with mini blender/frother.
4. Add Aloe Juice and Witch Hazel.
5. Combine/blend and add more oil/aloe juice to get to the desired consistency.
6. Add cacoa/carob powder a little at a time until you reach your desired shade.
7. Blend thoroughly once you have your desired shade and consistently. *You may want to put it back in the coffee grinder to ensure powders are completely blended and all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
8. Add 1/4 tsp. Leucidal Liquid SF, preservative (optional, but highly recommended). Blend to ensure it is fully incorporated.
* Your foundation will last for up to 3-6 months with the preservative (if you don't use it up before then). Without the preservative, I'm not sure. I would say keep it in the refrigerator or a cool, dry, place, and do not dip in the pot with your fingers, or get any water into the pot and it should be fine.
If you are interested in purchasing all-natural products that I have made, you can find them here (for soap please allow 5 weeks from the release date of the video to be in the online store):
