I need some help with a project and wanted to get your opinion. I have to make a few hundred holes in 1/4" mild steel. I bought a cheap drill press but would I use a normal metal 1/2" bit or like a milling bit. I need holes to be accurate and trying to order bits this weekend. Thanks

For precision drilling I would use a spot drill first and then use a standard drill bit. The spot drill will drill a small dimple to prevent a standard bit from walking or shifting. I think this is more accurate than the milling bit. I hope this helps.

@@axcreates_official Think that helped me make up my mind. I will have to determine if to go 1/2" or 5/8" now and order a few pieces of steel that I am missing. I'm just going to build me a welding table nothing heavy duty like yours but 1/4" top plate.

Si lo tuviera que hacer con electrodo revestido, cuál usaría? El 6013, 6011 o el 7018. Gracias por su atención.

Usaría 7018, especialmente si el acero se limpia antes de soldar. 6013 se utiliza para una penetración leve, 6011 tiene una penetración más profunda. Espero que esto ayude. Gracias por su apoyo. 👍
