In April of 2024, Tanner and Morgan headed to Puerto Rico to fly fish for tarpon, permit, and bonefish. While they had a couple days of guided fishing, they also put their skills to the test by roaming the flats DIY. Great video. I, too, have unfinished business with some tarpon in Puerto Rico. Think about it almost every day. The folks at magic tarpon were great when I went out with them.

Fished those same flats with Captain Flecha and those were some picky bones. Glad you guys got into some before that and that they were that picky for others as well lol. I'd book with Antonio again in a heartbeat! Super beautiful area and excellent video!

Great video guys! I’m from the south Texas coast and I’m jealous. Great fishing! I’m curious as to your gear. What was your reel and line for the trip?

We used 3 main set ups with an 8wt, 9wt, and 10wt reel. The 8 and 9 had Scientific Anglers amplitude grand slam floating line. The 10wt had the Scientific Anglers Sonar Grand slam clear tip, which is a sinking tip line so we could get down a little deeper in certain situations.

@@FishiganMilligan yeah sealed drag is the main thing you are looking for. We use a mix of brands…. We really like our Galvan grip and our hatch iconic!

I would! It might be tough in Rincon with the surf, but looking on google earth it looks like you could find some fishy water just a little south of there!

🌴 This was a real eye opener as being a Floridian fly fishing mainly in the Tampa Bay Area I’ve always wondered what the fishing would be like in Puerto Rico , I haven’t seen a lot of you tube vids done on it , how would you compare it to the keys ? I’m thinking it doesn’t get the fishing pressure the keys gets and I also thought that the fish would be less spooky as not being gone after like in the keys , the one draw back is I think things are more expensive there but I don’t know cause I haven’t been there , so glad ya took us with ya on the journey great vid, what’s next 🤔

We haven’t had the chance to fish the keys yet, but it is high on the list. You’re not wrong about it being expensive. Food can be pricey because it’s an island with very little agriculture of its own so they import most produce causing food prices to go up. The fishing pressure is very little and there are fish there year round. I wish we could spend more time exploring down there, but for now we are preparing for a trip to the land down under in October. Glad you liked the video! We will definitely have a bunch more videos rolling out between now and then! Fishing is just picking up here in CO
