The plastic sleeve idea is genius! Thanks! I've been homeschooling for 12 years and I love seeing how other mom's homeschool. It's a great way to get new ideas and 'spice up' our homeschooling routine. :)

I love the pocket for field trip pamphlets! The field trip page is also a great idea, an awesome way to include all of the awesome on the go learning. The table of contents are also genius! I remember you mentioning previously keeping the printouts from the library of what you have checked out and I plan on implementing that tip when we get back to school. I love the bibliographies showing what everyone has learned. I was previously overwhelmed by creating a portfolio (not required but I think it's a good idea) and this video has alleviated that anxiety, thank you!

I love portfolio ideas. I've been purging and decided to toss a lot from the past 8 years , but notebooking the real "keepers" is a good way to only hold on to what's needed.

Jamie, thank you! This was so helpful to me! We just competed our first year of homeschool and I was looking at doing something like this! We are not required in the state of GA to keep a homeschool portfolio, but I think it will be a fantastic keepsake! I have already made a picture album of our year, I know we will enjoy looking at it for years to come!

Thank you for the video, this ideas are amazing. We live in Chile and although we don't need to make a portfolio I think it would be very helpful to have one. Amazing!!! Thank you. Hugs from Chile 🇨🇱♥️

How do you choose a certified teacher who does your review?
@jamieerickson4436
@jamieerickson4436 9 лет назад
+Mimi Parker I do not have to have a certified teacher do my review in my state. But, if you contact your state homeschool association, they will probably have a list of certified teacher's that you could contact.

Do you grade your child's work? If you do could you explain how?
@jamieerickson4436
@jamieerickson4436 9 лет назад
Cathy Lynn No. I do not. The older kids use Teaching Textbooks and that program automatically grades their work. But other than that, I don't give grades. I don't think it is necessary until high school when a child needs a grade for a transcript.

@jamieerickson4436 As a teacher myself, my husband and I have made the decision to homeschool our two children and are getting things in order to be able to do that. Your blog and RU-vid channel have been a Godsend and the first homeschooling blog I have extensively wanted to read. You are awesome. Although I am a teacher as well, I know that homeschooling is different and that I will probably have some unschooling to do myself. My question is in regards to standardized testing. How do you prepare your children for future standardized testing? Also, I know that some homeschool parents have their children take a standardized test at the end of every year while others only have them take things like the LEAP in certain grades. What do you recommend and what do you do personally if you don't mind me asking. Thank you so much for all you do and for letting God's light shine through you.
