Never even thought to do it w/my finger. Before seeing this, a long time ago, I got one of the Taklon modpodge brand brushes & it works beautifully!! It's so amazing, a total game changer. But if you don't have one, this looks like an incredible way to apply it!! Thank-You my friend, for always sharing what you've learned along the way!! ♡
Watching your videos is not only informative I also find it to be very relaxing. You have a lovely speaking voice and a gracious manner that is calm and very enjoyable. During these hectic, often stressful days I welcome the respite your videos provide. Thank you for the 'escape' via your tutorials. I do have a few quick questions. Do you find there's a big difference between regular Mod Podge and the Duracoat? Second, if you tried regular Mod Podge was it worthwhile or an obvious fail? (Somehow I have 2 gallons of regular Mod Podge. Isn't it amazing the items we find when we move?)
faye austin Thanks! Glad you enjoy it! 😊😊 I use hard coat because my very first experience making a cup, the glitter layers never seemed to get firm. It may have been process or not letting it dry ample time, but I tried the hard coat mod podge and love it. Many people use the regular mod podge though, so it’s perfectly fine to do that. You would want to make sure you give ample dry time. 😊
Minderella1225 .... Thx for the quick and informative reply. Rather than risk a mishap I will go with your preferred choice. I will be making Christmas gifts and of course time (and expense), are considerations. (I am not doing the same as you. I ran across a box of stainless steel coffee cups, much smaller so hopefully a bit faster.) I will devise other projects for the gallons of regular Mod Podge I recently discovered. Again, I love your creations and your style tutorial.
Holy crap I learned so so much tonight watching this. Of course after I just my cup and didn't brush off extra glitter... even though I thought I should. It looks like a glitter factory explosion in my kitchen
First time watching your videos and I’d have to say I love watching each one. You explain everything very well. I have been wanting to make these for some time now.
You know you can also I made some vases you could also spray hairspray on them too instead of The mod podge my granddaughter I told her to what she did I made the base with white paint and you mix it with baking soda and it makes it look like it's Rocky and then spray it with the hairspray
Great channel and video Hey I have a question for you, I have been purchasing The Todd McFarlane figures and I have the figures on s shelf but in close proximity to each other and noticed that the colors of the figures are rubbing off of each other…. Can the modge podge spray help prevent that from happening again for future figures? Thank you in advance Ps great song!!!❤
Hi! Thank you! I haven’t worked with figurines but I would think that it would work to seal them. Any kind of sealer would work. A spray sealer like rustoleum 2x or polycrylic. I found this page that goes over sealing figurines. Maybe it will help you more. 😊 creativetwilight.com/seal-painted-miniatures/
Love this. Very simple and thorough. I am going to glitter, epoxy and put vinyl on a cup. When do I apply the vinyl? After the glitter? After the first coat of epoxy? I can't find the order of things! Thanks!
Hi Elaine...I go through most of my steps in my start to finish video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MElvr9sqc-E.html The order is Mod Podge/Glitter, Mod Podge/Glitter, Epoxy 1st coat, sand if needed, apply vinyl, epoxy 2nd coat. You may or may not need another coat of epoxy after the first or last.
For this video I was only showing how to apply the glitter with the mod podge method where I use a glove to apply it. Once it dried I applied epoxy to the glitter to seal it in completely. :)
Hi! I would really like to do this with a pair of Crocs. What kind of Mod Podge would you recommend, or should I use something altogether different? I don't want the glitter to crack when I walk. Also, can I ask where you get your glitter? It's gorgeous!
Since crocs are plastic / silicone type, you may want to find an adhesive that is good for that. I think the crystal ninja has some for rhinestone application that may work. Check out my RU-vid channel for the supplies video where I have all my favorite glitter sellers linked.
I’m learning how to mod podge over vinyl on to a plastic Starbucks cups. I’m having trouble with the mod podge clumping between layers. I like how you applied it with your finger. It has me thinking if I do it this way would it be enough for just one layer? Should I use more like this video or wait longer than a hour?
Great group ever for King and County makes go to driving music 🎶What type of glitter do you recommend on buying to resell? I know poly is best, but as far as metallic, holographic etc? TFS!!!
Lupe Valdez I bought a little of everything when I started. It’s total preference and everyone seems to like something different! I live the Holographic glitter though!
Hi new to ur Chanelle I had one question did u wait for it to dry before adding second coat of modge poge and as well loved the look of the cup. Im starting and the opoxy is so expensive so I'm glad we can use something more affordable thanm you for sharing.
Yes, always let your mod podge dry completely prior to adding another coat. At least an hour...I use hard coat which dries hard so I know it will be good and hard before next coat.
After you take off the tape and let the 2nd coat of glitter dry. And do you reapply the tape before epoxy coats? Or do you epoxy and use baby wipes to wipe off excess epoxy on the steel?
You really shouldn't be having missing spots on a second coat. If you are, your mod podge is likely drying too fast on the first and second coat. You could try to do a third coat, but I think only once during the time I used mod podge did I need to do a 3rd coat. Also base painting your tumbler will help cover the stainless to allow for a better coverage.
Mod podge and epoxy can be used as adhesive. I typically only use epoxy to clear coat my tumblers to finish them off. You can seal with mod podge but you don’t get the sparkle.
Good evening your videos are awesome!!! What do you recommend for those without the rotisserie motor to do as far as drying the epoxy so there are no drips on it? Thank you
Thank you for your video very helpful! I am planning to use the dishwasher safe modge podge. Do you apply a final coat of MP to the tumbler to fully seal?
@@danam.6883 thats what i do she is using the wrong mod podge she needs the orange glue mod podge the one she has in purple is one for sealing and very similar to epoxy but it takes more than one coat on top of glitter
How do I go about applying epoxy to seal the cup afterwards? Do I add more tape to keep it only over the glitter or do you just epoxy the entire outside of the cup?
I go over that in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-guLOPzxSSFA.html You will want to tape again just outside the glitter and then epoxy. Pull your tape when it’s tacky and won’t run, but not cured yet. 30 minutes to an hour. 😊
Also is the hard coat mod podge water resistant? One last question, when I use either pva glue or the mod podge dishwasher safe glue I lose all the lustre from my fine holographic silver glitter 😠 but I don't with normal chunky-ish glitter
I'm making my first cup right now, my glitter kinda clumped with the mod podge, can I sand the glitter? Or should I do a first coat of epoxy, sand, then epoxy?
If it clumps when doing the mod podge it's best to strip it and start over because there's not an easy way to hide that. Epoxy magnifies imperfections. If it's only a small area you can try to scratch off (NOT sand off) but using a knife or hobby knife just scratch off the bump and then apply a full coat of glitter. Then epoxy.
Hard Coat Mod Podge, I never knew there was such a kind. I thought there was only one kind. UG, How stupid I am, although I am kinda new to the Mod Podge world. 🤔
I don't mix my mod podge. I apply my mod and then apply glitter over it. I keep applying it until there is no mod podge showing and the glitter isn't laying completely flat against it. I let it dry and then dry brush excess off. I don't apply mod podge on top of my glitter.
Thank you for this video it was extremely helpful! I do have a question what do you suggest to do if when you pull off the tape your line is a little uneven? Is there a way to fix that? TIA!
It depends...if it's sticking above the tape line you can use an exacto and cut any excess off. If it pulls off glitter and there is now a spot missing glitter, it's a bit more difficult. When that happened to me once I just used an exacto and trimmed the entire line down a hair so it would match.
Thank you so much that makes perfect since and thank you for responding! Good to know I was intimidated by doing this but your video has inspired and helped me so much!
So you mix take paint white paint put it in a bowl mix it with some baking soda till it's like spaghetti I mean like a pancake batter put it all over let it dry that's right with hairspray
Awesome video! Love the outcome🖤😊 I’m doing centerpieces for my baby shower using corona beer bottles. I’m wanting to do glitter, but don’t want a lot of fall out. Can I use the hard coat mod podge to apply the glitter and then later seal it with the glossy mod podge? I’ve never used expoxy so I don’t want to use it and risk messing up when my shower is only a month away.
It should be removed immediately after applying your last layer. Pull the tape back and kind of cut that edge line. Pull straight back, not up and all.
yes you have a nice voice and music gish i wish i sounded like you . what are these for i mean you dont drink out of them right? cannot wash this . what do you do with them
Before epoxy I don’t like the ya I have my cup and I did the mod podge method as well but I never epoxy it yet and it’s still wet how do I get the glitter off do I just wash it with soap and hot water while it’s still wet
At least an hour. It has to be dry to the touch. With Epoxy as the adhesive I only do 1 layer and let that dry 4 hours minimum, usually overnight, before adding epoxy.
Quick question.... The hard coat mod podge says to cure for 4 weeks..... It's that really necessary? How long do you wait before applying your epoxy? Love this video btw!
If you don't seal it, your glitter will come off in your hand. Some people do mod podge on top or dishwasher safe mod podge on top. It works...but it doesn't have the smooth glass finish like you get with epoxy.
Hi hope you are well I am not i am so upset cos straight after washing my finished tumbler it went dull no shine can I save it? What went wrong pls help😫😩😫 what do you sand yours with? When do I sand it iv orderd you epoxy I thought I mixed it well this is to hard.
I’m not sure what you mean. You had epoxies your tumbler and when you washed off the epoxy it went full? Or you sanded it and that made it dull? Sanding will dull it and you’ll need another coat of epoxy to bring back the shine. I use 400grit wet/dry sand paper and sand with the water running. I have a sanding video here on my channel. Your epoxy should be clear when applied or you’re not mixing enough. I have an epoxy mixing video that goes over the process. 😊
@@MinderellaCreations sorry i fished my eproxy tumbler it sat for 24hrs then I was giving it a wash before I was going to take a beautiful pic of it and it went completely dull no shine flat what happened to it and can it be saved and shiny again?
@@fatimaarcaro8979 I'm not sure. I haven't heard of that happening. I do let my epoxy cure for 48-72 hours though as it takes that long to do a full cure. I don't ship them or deliver until they've hit max cure. It may have not been mixed properly or long enough or you may not have had a good seal around the glitter and moisture got behind the epoxy and clouded up the mod podge.
You don't have to, but since I don't base coat any of mine except white or light glitters, I generally do two coats to ensure the stainless steel isn't showing through.
first off, I LOVE your videos. You've become my "go-to" for learning. =) one question I have is, does it matter what kind of mod podge you use since it's on the bottom anyway?? I have never used mod podge before so I don't have a clue lol
Jennifer Moya Thanks! I don’t think it matters since it’s under the epoxy. The properties of the mod podge are most important if you aren’t covering it. I use the hard coat because it dries the quickest and hardest. 😊
Cohiesha Weatherspoon Hopefully that didn’t sound rude 🙈 It was late when I answered and I was like, I have no idea how you’d turn a tray. I would probably not turn it and do thin layers while sitting to build up to the finish you want.
Kawon Arnold You could probably use a fabric adhesive with loose glitter. I’ve seen that done on shoes but I’m not sure of a mod podge that would work unless dishwasher safe or if they have a fabric one.
Nope! Your mod podge is under it not on top of it so the glitter is as it is when applied. You seal in epoxy once it’s completely dry so it’s clear as glass when done.
Is your mod podge too think causing it to clump? You should always dry brush once it’s dry to remove the excess glitter before applying your next coat.
Not after it dries. If I’ve had imperfections I will take a knife and scrape off the uneven part (not completely, just scratch it until it’s even). Then I add a new mod podge and glitter layer.
Most use the term interchangeably. Epoxy art and resin art. Here’s an in general description of difference, but I use them when discussing interchangeably. epoxycountertopdiy.com/epoxy-vs-resin-the-difference-explained/
