And, a safety note for those wearing soft contact lenses, fumes from the acetone do NOT react kindly to soft contact lenses. You do NOT want them melting/wrinkling up while in your eyes.

Great job. I wasn't familiar with the wrap. You taught me something. It's a nice project in the winter. That and tying a few flies and loading some ammo. 😊

You are the true artist, great demo, I never knew about the rap, I always just used my Joejan and glued the feathers right to the shaft, I like the way you did it much better

Once you've put on the first one, how do you evenly place the second and third at equal distances around? Does the jig determine that distance?

Great demo. Only thing I’d do differently is the scouring pad. I can understand you using arrow wraps, however for people wanting to stick the fletchings straight into the arrow shaft, a scouring pad would scratch the arrow shaft. I normally find that the fletching glue comes straight off with my fingernail, and then just give it a quick wipe over with kitchen roll and it’s good to use. I also have never cleaned brand new fletchings either. I might be wrong but I’d have thought they’d be clean enough for the job that they do 👍

i just got an xbow on black friday and am planning on going hunting in the fall...i have a hardcore background in physics and math and the idea of building your own arrows/bolts is just so awesome to contemplate because i am shooting at 425 fps, arrow stability is an absolute must...would you recommend for that kind of speed that a 4 sided fletching be more conducive to a better flight path... i learned quickly about the 'spine' and how important getting the right strength is because i had a dryfire with a cheaper bolt that scare the shit out of me...xbow was fine...

Nice video Michael and good looking arrow!! Do you check the spine of the arrow and square the nock end prior to doing any of the wraps or fletchings?
@SnaggedOnBottom
@SnaggedOnBottom 5 лет назад
I am consistently checking the spine with spin test, obviously when I first cut the arrows and also after I fletch and shoot them. It's kind of amazing how easy it is for your arrows to start to wobble, especially if you shoot a FMJ type of arrow (which I do). I just learned about squaring the nock end recently. I will definitely be doing that in the future! Thanks for the comment!

After putting glue on your vane, have a piece of paper sitting on the side and just dab your vane on it get the excess off, keeps it off of your fingers.

What is the measurement from the arrow nock to the vane? You mentioned that you have 3 markings, C, T and CT, but what is C 1"?

how did you measure the space between the vains
@jeffreyccv

Gorilla glue all the way.. rock solid contact. You can shoot your arrows immediately after gluing your fletchings on. I dont worry about them coming off ever. I didnt even bother to clean any surfaces. Cheers

if I place 4 I can work out the angles, how do you precisely get the angle for 3?
@kurtisb100
@kurtisb100 3 года назад
A fletching jig usually has 120 degree and 90 degree marks on them. 120 for three fletching arrows.

Man I tried fletching my first dozen arrows. I'm using the arizona mini max. I put wraps on with 3 aae hybrid vanes. I followed ur process and I felt I used hardly any glue and for some reason I have glue everywhere and I even used rag and tried quetip to clean the access glue off and it just made it way worse. Any help or tips would be nice I know someone has to have had this same issue there first time as well
@ChrisWillard-zo1ms
@ChrisWillard-zo1ms Месяц назад
The trick is really just trial and error. If you feel like you're using too much glue try to use a little less. I will make a small bead line down the vane and then seat it on the arrow. Using a que tip to clean the excess. Idk if that helps
