The workmanship is absolutely stunning. The dress is so well made! And it's so beautiful! I was wondering how in the world you were going to get the bodice attached to the first tier and you did something amazing there to accomplish it! Congrats on making a dress that is going to last you for decades.
@@terrid8078 it looked like she machine sewed the skirt to the outside layer of fabric. Then pressed the seam allowances up into the bodice. Next press the seam allowance of the lining fabric in and then it will cover all the raw edges neatly as it’s whip stitched down by hand. I’ve seen a similar method used to attach a collar/collar stand to a button down shirt. It’s tricky to do the first time but once you figure out the technique it’s pretty cool! I like it anyway lol😅
So so beautiful! I prefer your version on the bust for us bigger busted girls.. the original sits funny in that region and I know I would never wear it. It’s so flowy and free and looks divine! Another great one from you. You must pattern it lol xxx
Certainly on the top five list this year! Well done! Also, thanks for teaching the lining techniques as it is something that I struggle with on my summer makes.
Janelle, your dress is sooo much better than the others !!!! I adore it. I see things in the other dresses that I feel I would do differently and then I see yours and you made the changes! I love your taste. You do a brilliant job. You also look beautiful wearing it. Thank you for sharing your talent 💕
Oh I wish if I understood how the lining is sewn to achieve that seamless result!! The video was so sped up and only briefly explained, so I couldn’t pick up on how the lining exactly worked!! I would love to see a lined dress using this method because it seems interesting. If only I understood from this video though!!! Would you consider doing a tutorial on it?
I love how you see a dress and then look at how you can create it, I saw a woman wearing a lovely blouse yesterday and I was looking at it and wondering how I could create it, it had a frilled lace neck collar, puffy sleeves and a slightly A line bodice, so I’m going to give it a go ✂️x
This video is amazing! The dress turned out so beautiful on you and it has so many fun details. I really learned a lot and cant wait to try it myself! thanks for the video :)
I've recently started sewing and you are an inspiration to me. Well done on such a brilliant work. I wonder if this dress could be reversible, it is that great on the inside. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to being able too make this at some point.
Sewing tip: clipping your curves like the neck and arm holes really helps everything lay in place nicely and helps to reduce tension. In Peter Pan collars you clip the curves with little "v" shapes to reduce bulk. Also trimming and grading your seams also helps them not show through to the outside when you are using a thin fabric.
Well, there’s no doubt in my mind that yours is much cuter! I love your sleeves sooo much more and the situation of your bust seam is more flattering than the original………
Love how the details of the top neatly done. 😍 wanted to learn also how to line garments. May I ask what types of fabric are good for lining dresses? Thank you. Sending love all the way from the Philippines. 🇵🇭
I just recently made a fully lined dress myself. As you'd be able to tell if I was wearing dark colored underwear under the main fabric. And I love having no visible seams on the inside.
fully lining dresses is a game changer. Most of the dresses I make are fully lined. Pin tucks look like one of those tedious but yet satisfying things... like shirring :D
Yess I love you videos ❤❤ They are so inspiring 😍 I live in the Netherlands, so now I am going to sleep and watch your video tomorrow morning :) Enjoy your day!
Well done. The dress is lovely and, as you say, will be a well worn summer dress. I would have done the skirt lining without the tiers and additional gathers. But I imagine the way you have done the skirt lining gives the dress additional volume, adding to the baby doll feel. A good choice, methinks.
The lining is just one rectangle piece without the tiers. There’s no way I was gathering all that fabric if it wasn’t even going to be seen! The one tiered skirt is more than enough volume 😊
I love fully lined dresses for Autumn and Winter, they are too warm for Brisbane summers. I line mine with 100% cotton bedsheets from the opshop, bamboo if i can find it are the best. It's a great recycling of the plain ones or maybe ones with some discolouration. No one sees it and they feel so beautiful on the skin! 😄
I was thinking wouldn’t it be a bit easier to attach the third tier to the second before the second is gathered, then gather the second and attach to the first? Then you aren’t fighting with gathers.
It's adorable! But won't it be hot for the summer months with two layers of fabric, the high neck, and the puffy half sleeves? Maybe it's just me. I hate being too warm.
Gorgeous make! I was wondering if that detail of the neck could be done to a simple t shirt pattern to give a little twist. Do you think it would work on knit fabric?
Yeah it’s totally possible! I’ve done something similar with knit fabric in this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TRKtZOwneng.html
