Your video is he best. I was just going to make one with just the sides and have the bottom loose, but you have changed my mind. Thank you for the video !
Excellent tutorial! Maybe though you might have mentioned it would be a good idea to fold the pattern and tape the sides closed and test the fit because after all, the dimensions you're taking are from the outside of the bag!
This shouldn't be a problem because you are not adding any allowance to the measurements taken so after sewing, it will be smaller than the bag. Comment is old and you probably no longer care lol but this is for anyone wondering
Thank you for this tutorial 😍 I saw your video yesterday at midnight and went right after to make it for my backpack ! The result is amazziinnngggg love it !
The measurements I used for the small one is: 7.5” length x 5” width x 4” height. This is not including the tabs as you’d cut those off anyway. You can see the measurements / template I used at around 2:40 in the video.
You say you can check the dimensions on the website .. what website, i'm having problems finding this on a website. I'm trying to draw the pattern out on poster board first, to make a pattern. I'm not good at freehand.
I’m referring to the website for wherever you purchased the bag you plan on making the insert for. The website will have the measurements for length, width and depth denoted, which you can use to make your pattern. It’s usually hidden in the “size & fit” or details section of the web page. For instance, the website for the mini mansur gavriel bucket shown in this video indicate measurements of 10” height, 7” length and 5” width, as such, the measurements I used for the organizer were 4” x 7” x 5” (essentially just adjusting the height). Alternatively, you could just use a tape measure to figure out the measurements, which is what I showed in the video.
Great tutorial! I have a tote which sags so much that I need this organizer, but I also need it to be sturdy enough to hold up instead of sagging. Do I need to add some stiffer or I was thinking I have some of those embroidery plastic things that people use for embroidery, or maybe just some boning on the corners? Your expert reply, or any of the followers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.
Thank you thank you thank you for this video! My bag needs an insert but since I kind of know my way around a sewing machine I decided to search up a tutorial and I checked online everywhere for a tutorial for this exact insert…& nothing. Until I finally came across your video! God bless you! Thank you so much for your tutorial! You’re a life saver! 😅
This is an awesome tutorial and it looks very easy to fallow. I just got my Louis Vuitton alma BB and Amazon has the inserts for too much money. I’m gonna give it a try and make my own one. Thank you for sharing!
What a great tutorial! I just hope I can find this stiff felt here in the US. I’m desperate for an organizer for my LV bucket bag and the custom one I ordered doesn’t fit at all.
I know this video was ages ago but Thank You for this. So cute and simple. I rarely buy tote bag because they end up a black hole of lost things, but this will definitely solve that!
I recently purchased a pattern to make one and the instructions and pattern were so complicated, I can't figure it out. Yours makes so much sense. thank you!
Omg!! Its So freaking easy! Lol bought one online for my speedy 25 but its making my purse bulky so i need something that is shorter. Its so frustrating to find the right size online.
I'm very impressed. Thank you for this tutorial. If I can find confidence on sale somewhere, I'll give it a go. Good luck to you, and thank you for being so generous in sharing with us all.
This is a great video. I definitely want to make my own but can’t find a 3-5mm felt at the fabric store. Only seen 1.5mm on Amazon. Where you find your fabric? Can you share a link? Thanks
Sorry - I don't have a link. I bought it from a fabric store... there wasn't even any real descriptions of the materials in store. I definitely went by feel.
do you know what felt you used specifically? I see that yours is more thick and structured than the ones my craft store has. I'll have to purchase somewhere else, but I just don't know what to search for.
