Love this jelly fish. Have you seen the Gypsy Sea weaver on the Oregon coast? She makes jelly fish and more from recycled fishing ropes.

Hi Tweek! I am one of your subscribers. These jellyfish are beautiful. I just ordered a bunch of the glass beads for this, I have been watching several of your videos showing how to make the cluster balls. What size crimp beads should I use for this, I have a size2 will that work or should I go smaller? and I ordered a size 18mm glass beads for the top, now what size do I use for the inside part that you have all the 4mm beads hanging from? Thank you so much. I cant wait to make one for myself.

Hi! How glad I am that you’ll be making your own jellyfish! About crimp beads… I have a bunch of them in the tiny size and in different colors. Since the crimp bead is only holding the beads onto the wire ( tentacle ) I don’t see the need to use bigger crimps… tho that could work if that is the look one is goin’ for. Jellyfish are SO varied and colorful and different! You really can’t go wrong! About the 18mm top of the jelly … I suggest create the 1/2 cluster ball first. Next, create a few full cluster balls and test to see which fits into the 1/2 cluster best. You want the full one to nestle into the 1/2 cluster… not a tight fit. Most of the full ball should be inside the 1/2 cluster. For instance: I made our jellyfish using 18mm beads for the 1/2 with 12mm or 10mm beads for the nestling cluster ball. The size beads you use to decorate the bottom of that center nestling ball is your choice. The ‘nestling’ is the important thing. If the full cluster fits too tightly more of it will be ‘hanging out the bottom’. That’s ok, too, if it’s the look one wants but I wanted it tucked in. Looking at images of jellyfish can really perk up one’s imagination and I gained more confidence as I strung my ‘jellies’ together as they are so varied in size and style and length! So gather your beads….begin with the 1/2 cluster which WILL be the largest size bead you use in the project….find the center full cluster that nestles in best…decorate the hanging bits as you please. This has been one of my favorite beading projects and was completely unexpected! I was looking to make a snail….. a Jellyfish showed up! Have FUN! Thank you for being a subscriber and for your comment! I am very pleased that you are inspired to be making jellies of your own! Tweek :0)

HiTweek, What are the size smaller bead and the drops bead and what size for the insides the middle and on the long beaded legs you put 10 I think then a color than how many 30 then color thank you vivian

Hi Vicki, On the Jellies tentacles I used 2mm beads. The middle/inside I used a 16mm bead to fit into the cluster, then random beads to add to finish ( 3 more beads of graduated smaller size ). But you can use any bead you wish… or NO beads for the inside. Just the 1/2 cluster & tentacles make a lovely, almost transparent, Jelly! The tentacles are as long as you wish to make them! Your choice!
