The large ceramic shell bead that came in the Magical Mystery Bead Box for May 2022 from ‪@JesseJamesBeads‬ really deserved to be on display. So, I used it as my central piece in a fan pull that now proudly resides in my living room. I received the bead box as a Design Ambassador for Jesse James Beads, but you can get your own Magical Mystery Bead Box on the website.

Thank you! I found your video by searching specifically for DIY decorative chain pull. You made such a nice one! I hope mine turns out half as well.

Oh, thank you so much! I'm thrilled to know that you found my video. I know the method was a bit wacky. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Wishing you the best of luck on your own creation!!

Using the clamshell, great solution. Elegant fan pull.

Thanks, Christina. I wish I could take credit for the clamshell idea. I know I saw someone else do it. I want to say that it was Kellie from Kellie's Bead Boutique, but I'm not positive if that's right or not. In any case, it's too great of a technique not to share! I appreciate you watching.

Aw, thank you, Pattie! My want to MAKE ALL THE THINGS is the reason my channel and branding is all "CraftyHope" and not some more specific name. I hate it sometimes, but I know it's what fits best. Thank you for your support! It means more than you know. 🥰🥰

Thank you! I like how you explain things and your camera angles! I am wondering if you could use a regular crimp cover to hide the wire instead of a clam shell crimp cover?

Thanks! As for using the regular crimp cover...I suppose you could try. I just liked that the regular one has the hole in it rather than going around it. It feels more secure somehow. (but that might just be me!)

Thank you for the video but I don't understand all the way because I'm new to this. The part I don't understand is why use that other wire when you could have used the end of that second wire (the shell is on) you used to do the same thing with? I mean without making the loops just attach it to the chain pull and put the clam shell over it. Am I missing something? I have limited supplies here but just got a silicone bead I want to use for a chain pull I want to avoid any extra steps and material if I can.

Hi Chris! Thanks for the question. I worked it that way for several reasons. The main one is that if you added your beads to the bottom of that initial (clam-shelled) wire, there's nothing there that will keep the beads from falling off. You could definitely make a loop or coil of some sort, but that always feels a bit unfinished to me. Secondly, being able to wrap some of that wire around the clamshell helps give it more security. As well, I did it this way because some individuals might have a chain that has a loop or ring already on the end. By showing how to make the second part (the long charm, basically), I'm giving them the option to add it to what they already have rather than taking their chain apart. I hope that makes it clearer for you. But, don't hesitate to reach out again if you have any other questions!

What essential tools and supplies for a beginner? Ty
@CraftyHope
@CraftyHope Год назад
Hey, Allie! I have a list of tools and supplies that I used for this video in the description box. As well, I have a whole Playlist of videos I made several years back that goes over most of the basics for jewelry-making including the tools/materials needed (ru-vid.com/group/PLqeJA0eXm_OlInQtX9xAli_rhuT_LIZM4) But, in general, you want a set of pliers that includes chain nose and round nose pliers and some wire cutters. To me, those are essential. Beyond that, it all depends on what you want to make. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have ANY questions at all!!
