Hi Deidra, this is the napkin I was talking about the bluebird that you decoupage on the birdhouse. I would love to know how I can go about buying those napkins. Thank you in advance, Dawn.

I bought that napkin from "which craft do you do" a while back. Not sure if they still have it.

Hi! How do you keep brushes that you use to apply mod podge with, soft? Mine all harden even if I wash them right away. Thanks for answering ❤

Your video is by far the best that I've seen and I think I've watched them all. Your the only one that suggested the DecoArt Napkin Glue, the Triple Gloss Finish and the craft iron. After watching your video, It makes sense to use these tools which I have ordered on Amazon and received. The other great tip you gave was using the oven. I'm planning on doing 4 4x4 ceramic tiles with napkins so I'm really glad I hung in there until I found your video. Thanks for doing all the research for us.

I have been doing decoupage for nearly 40 years and I still have trouble from time to time with wrinkles in my napkins. The water method is not for me. I tried it a few times without success. This method looks a lot easier and I will definitely be giving it a try. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and knowledge.. its a great help!!!🙏

Hello Patti...can you show how to decoupage on a mug...n what to use on the mug..thank you
@patioelf
@patioelf Год назад
hello /Suraya, I think you are wondering if you can make the mug washable? I have used the dishwasher safe decoupage glues but they tend to last for a little less than a year then begin to peel. I will say this, I found a new decoupage glue that is to be used on ceramics, so I can try to do that going forward and make a video for it. :)

I am so glad to see you here, Patti. Lots of people are offering instructions for decoupage that aren’t researched as well as they ought to be. This is my first sighting of you in a long while! I’ve missed you; maybe my notifications aren’t set right. They’re a little hi-tech for me still. - Louise

My piece is too big to put in the oven or use the heat iron. Can you use a heat gun (blower)?
@monaraemoon7569
@monaraemoon7569 Год назад
To clarify, what temperature setting do you recommend for ironing the decoupage paper? I assume you are reheating the base layers of decoupage glue that you had originally put down, thereby securing the napkin to the surface. You are then going over that with a top coat, correct?
@patioelf
@patioelf Год назад
you can use the highest setting on your iron, but make sure you use the parchment paper. I do normally put a top coat over my items, in this case if this was going outside I would have used spar varnish since it protects your work from the elements.

Hi Patty, question: I notice that you use chalk paint to decoupage over. Chalk paint is water based, as well as Decoupage glue is water based. How come you can decoupage over chalk paint onto a water based paint and it is not affected? TY
@patioelf
@patioelf Год назад
You would have problems if the paint was oil based and you decoupaged over it, since oil dries through a chemical process and water based paints and mediums dry through evaporation of the water in it. :) Since both products are water based, they play well together. ;)

On the birdhouse I made, I followed instructions on another video, which was a coat of paint, let that dry, then a thin layer of the MP on the edge of the birdhouse, then apply the napkin to the edge where the MP is. Then, smooth the napkin out across the surface and out a layer of MP on top of the napkin because it will soak through to the wood. Everything was fine but there was a lot of crinkling and wrinkles I couldn’t get out. Do you think it’s from the MP?
@RainorShine1

Cuz napkin got wet is why it wrinkles. If you let mod podge dry then iron no wrinkles I've done it

I was wondering too. I asked Elmer's glue. I keep seeing school glue. They said use Their Glue-all so I ordered a whole gallon. Now I don't know! Lol.? I did use Glue-all in the 70s. I didn't have a problem but I didn't use napkins either. Patti?

Hi Tammy, I used to make this at home Decoupage glue with a matte clear wallpaper glue and it was amazing! The wallpaper glue isn't made anymore. What you can do is use a matte gel medium and a little distilled water to make a nice napkin decoupage glue. :) Both the matte gel and the distilled water are acid free so your work will not turn an oxidized faded yellow over time.. :)
