I created an Amazon section/store to view many of the parts I used in this build:
www.amazon.com...
Here are some key items I used in this build: Fat 50 steel ammo can (real one, not fake), steel carrying handle, Siless 80-mil sound deadening dampening material, DS18 DVC 6” subwoofer, Dayton Audio neodymium 1-1.8” soft dome tweeters (sweetest tweeters ever!), Blue Sea Systems 1733 DC voltmeter, yellow lighted SPST toggle switch socket, USB QC3.0 with voltmeter/switch, 12v heavy duty power socket & custom made lanyard, Toeduk SAE 2-pin socket power port, Breeze Audio 100w x 2 Bluetooth amplifier, step-up booster transformer (to go from 12v to 24v), AudioPipe 2-way crossovers, Blue Sea Systems DualBus BusBar, Dayton Audio 2” bass reflex tube port (adjustable, cabinet tuned to 42 Hz), 2” 90-deg rubber drain hose (Lowe’s), Dakota Lithium 10aH battery, Misc wires, L-brackets, foam gaskets, tape, molding, etc. Total parts cost about $497. The battery, subwoofer, and tweeters are the most expensive items...you can reduce the costs of your build with lower quality pieces, but you get what you pay for. I tested out several combinations of tweeters, subs, and heavy AGM battery...to me, I am very satisfied with what I did. This was NOT an easy build with LOTS of parts returns (thanks Amazon Prime!) and several hours of tuning and trial runs. Anyone can slap some coaxials in a can with a amp and call their build "good". From what I seen on RU-vid, about 85-90% of them are thrown together pieces of pure junk. Some are excellent with a lot of thought put into them. In order to build one correctly, spend a few bucks on the good stuff and take your time. I messed up two cans and used Pyle subs...never again. Cutting and drilling steel makes a lot metal shavings...I cut myself several times. So, be careful!

Hi there. I just want to share with you how I did get rid of the rattles from the handle. I use 2 flat magnets glued to the lower side of the handle, and 2 flat magnets under the housing of the hinges. This method will fasten the whole handle together and no way for rattles anymore. You keep the ammo box as original as possible, and you can still lift the handle off and use it normally untill you slipp and it will fasten itself again.

I made one using dewalt 20v batterie with a 2 channel amp , 1 voltage shut off at 17vdc If you don’t use this it will drain the battery to low to recharge, i just use 1 tweeter and 1 6.5 inch guitar speaker using capacitors for the frequency dividers in a plastic ammo box Easy fast build the amp had Bluetooth It last all day 8 hours and been using it for 6 months and hasn’t failed cost was under 80

@ChrisDIYerOklahoma
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma 4 года назад
No...these aren't "made to sell". It takes too much time, money, and tweaking for me to sell them and make any money worth my time and efforts. For example, most will look at this size build and expect me to sell them for $200 shipped...and then try to negotiate the price down. I got way more than double that price in parts costs alone. It would be like "giving them away" and I am NOT a charity service. And then there are HOURS of my time that isn't even worked into the price equation. So, no, no, no, and NO...not selling them. Now if someone came over with a big wad of cash...that's a different story.

@ChrisDIYerOklahoma
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma 4 года назад
I bought two of these resistors www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FRXSG2Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 vs using crossovers and caps. They "knock down" the higher SPL ratings on the tweeters and balance the output to match the dual voice coil woofer.

Why is the step up booster necessary? I am building a suitcase box and im just plugging into the wall. Do i still need to boost it so i can get more power or what?
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma 5 лет назад
It depends: on what type of little Class D or T amp you are using and if you want max power. Many come with a 19v AC/DC adapter. In order to get them to full power, most require 24v or more. Go over to Derek's channel (he tests all kinds of amplifiers using test equipment and explains how higher input voltages on these amps increase power output): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iO-MVAnA9f4.html

Do you make them for anyone
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma Год назад
Sure don't. I put too much time and money (high quality everything) into these. Guys offer $100-200 and I pretty much laugh. My bigger ones have about $1,200 in parts alone let alone time tuning, wiring, design, engineering. So, I throw out my "bottom line" price and all I hear is crickets. Nobody will pay me what they are worth. So, I don't build them to sell. And, would never sell anyone a piece of crap anyways. So, I make them because I enjoy having real heavy deep bass and great sound.

Dual voice coil subwoofer. Tweeters contain a 50w 33-ohm resistor to reduce tweeter SPL output and balance out the sound. 3.8 ohm total resistance load on the amp. Amplifier's DC power input utilizes a booster mobile (set to 25v from 12v) to achieve maximum power

Hey Chris remember when i asked you about Live Round Sound company? Well i bought 2 of the Nuke Speakers $499 a piece well first of all he had no volume knob, bass or treble knobs on board , he also didn't have RCA /Aux ports which he added these ports on the can per my request which didn't work and if you wanted to use the RCA cord that was okay but it didn't work so to use the Aux ports you had to open the case and unplug the RCA connections and plug them up to the wires that came from inside the can! Guess what that didn't work either. The distortion was horrific to the point of being painful! The bluethooth was stuttering non stop and they couldn't pair up with one another! When i asked to return it he said no returns well now ive got to have my bank in charge of this scam artist his name is John and they are out of florida

I thought sealed was better for small enclosures, did you try it sealed before porting? I just finished building one with 2x5.25” jbl coaxial drivers and am torn between leaving it sealed and porting it. Using the online calculator, if I use a small port like 3/4” it only needs to be ~2” long for 40hz. Being that I don’t have a subwoofer in this build, I think it would move enough air. Anybody try something similar?
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma 4 года назад
I have made 12+ of these (various sizes, subs, amps). Sealed for smaller cans work best with smaller coaxials. I have made two with high-end coaxials...they don't produce the bass and overall fidelity either sealed or ported. So, stuck with DVC subs, ported cans, and tweeters...and lots of cabinet tuning. Good luck
@zachwhite2323
@zachwhite2323 4 года назад
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma Even with the 5.25" coaxial, it sounds better with the port. Plays clean and loud on ~18.5v from a dewalt battery. Ran it for 8 straight hours working on a project today and the 5ah battery still shows full. Using an Amazon Bluetooth amplifier board. Super simple build, battery, 2x jbl gt7-5 speakers and the board. ~$100 total for the build. Your builds have inspired me to up the ante. 40mm ammo can, 8" dvc sub, bluetooth 2.1 board rated at 50x2+100x1 for the sub. Going to run the same tweeters you do. Using a voltage booster in this one to get the maximum output from the amp. The tpa3116d chip put out 110w at 2 ohms in one dyno video I watched. Should sound pretty good. May steal your rubber elbow idea for the port.
