Take some burlap and put weights on both sides and you can drape it across the middle and zip tie you some grass on it and it will close up the gaps between the hunters and on our boat we took some canvas and sowed on some straps like on the a frame and zip-tied some grass to it

Good call on the boat blind. I've tried a bunch of different boat blinds (beavertail, custom hardside, etc.) and never seemed to be happy with them. We normally just stash the boat too. Find it easier to hunt that way. But it can be nice if it's really nasty out or if in deeper water. I think i'm gonna build a giant tarp with 3d netting stitched on top and cut a couple slots to poke through. Would hunt sitting on the bottom of the boat. Mainly for simplicity and the fact it will only be used 1-2 times a year.

Thats a brilliant idea. I think with some camo netting and mixing the same blind material in the front and rear will blend you in really good. Cant wait to see the final product!
@lonnieyancer5735
@lonnieyancer5735 3 года назад
To cover the front and back use camo burlap big enough to cover it. I would make it where the front and back fold in to the boat with hinges. That way don't have to take the skirts off. Don't take off the trolling motor. You might need it when the outboard gets to shadow for it to be used. I like "The Office" for boat name!

I would maybe tie the top bars together in the center or on both corners just for some reinforcement for transportation down the road and for other windy conditions. Looks good so far! I'm looking to do the same type of diy blind on my own boat so I'm excited for this series of videos!

My buddy and I built one out of conduit. And it works pretty good. Obviously it’s not top quality like you’d buy from a store pre-fitted, but it works pretty good. After a year he had a few changes he wants to do to it and I’m sure you will too. Looks man!

It looks good from my house! I went diy on mine. It’s made up of aluminum angle stock & EMT. The whole thing secures to the track system on my Grizzly. My panels close to what you have, I used 1000D Cordura and stitched it all up. I added nylon webbing like your A frame panels have so I could brush the panels with raffia. Yours looks like its gonna do what you need it to.

Having the front deck exposed is actually a good thing. Its great for throwing and pulling decoys if youre in deeper water or you dont want to get in the water. Id just cover it up with either some grass matts or mil netting. For transport, id leave the frame on the boat. Id attach it with conduit straps to the hull and then its not going to go anywhere even when driving. Obviously youll have to remove the material when you pull it with the truck. Happy hunting man
@MrBowNaxe
@MrBowNaxe 3 года назад
Great idea to use an old A-frame. I built mine out or 3/4" conduit (EMT) and it attaches directly to the boat. The only real problem I see with your plan is the set-up and take down... makes for a lot longer day both ways. If your only going to use it a time or two, no big deal you'll see what a pain it is. Kora needs a place too! That bow makes a good location (with a ramp) if you use camo netting she can see through. Can't wait to see what you decide works for you. As far as a name goes I like "The Spooner Schooner."

From the Great Northwest public Duck Blind good morning Josh well for the name of that boat you'll probably have lots of names that you won't want to put on the side of it when you're done being frustrated with it when you're hunting and you'll learn how to use it one thing I would recommend is a dog ramp figure out that dog ramp in a place for that dog to be in that boat she's got to have her own spot her spot only you'll go through that Duck Blind on that boat a hundred times I bet until you figure out how you like it it will all come together eventually great watching videos this is fun to see God bless from the northwest make sure she's got a place

I like where your head is at but I would be lying if I said that I think its going to be what you want. The first time you spend an hour setting that up on the boat and flair birds, blind flies off the boat due to wind because bungees failed, etc you will be livid. Hunting in the tidal southeast (I am aware this is different) we almost have to hunt out of boats because of the constantly rising and falling water. Our biggest hurdle IMO is the hide. My suggestion would be to buy a blind kit and modify from there. Believe me these are not great out of the box so there will be modifications but the fit and template that you have to work with will literally save hours of setup and take down time. There are usually sales near duck season that allow you to get a $600 blind for half the price. Something that I would say would work similar but better would be the banded axe blind that can work as a boat blind or shore blind! Maybe FDH could hook you up. Obviously up to you but I would save yourself the hard work of creating something from scratch and spend the hours modifying something that you purchase. Either way love all the videos and good luck this season!

Exactly the question you need to ask yourself, are you using the boat for transportation or to hunt out of? Be a lot easier depending on how your river lake your hunting is, to stash the boat down the river and hunt up from it

You wont regret getting a good 20gauge. I use a 20G for everything except long range Geese. I use my 12 for that.. when they just won't decoy super close. Otherwise a 20 will work for everything. Super light weight and easy to aim. Easy to carry. .
