We've all been there, contemplating the DIY quarantine haircut. Maybe you found this video searching how to cut your own hair at home! I say, YOLO! There are worse things than haircut fails, and you may just have fun and learn a new way to save some money! I've been cutting my own bangs for 2 years, and did my very first DIY haircut 3 months ago (watch it here: • I Cut My Own Hair for ... ) with decent success. Wanting a fresh short haircut, I took to RU-vid, as one does, and was inspired by ‪@CocoShin‬'s fun video here utilizing the bob haircut tutorial using the ponytail method: • Quarantine Haircut DIY...

So, it didn't come out perfect, but it's fairly decent? Maybe? Or does this go under quarantine haircutting fails?? We'll go with #asylumchic 😂 My advice? Watch a handful of videos and then just give it a go! You got this!

I have done this cut recently on my hair. I feel so free and relax now..... Going to maintain this much short hair for long time.... Love this cut.

I did it. My Mom can trim the back up. There are only a few stragglers. I did mine straight out of shower. I LOVE it. Scared of what my husband is going to say. It is 2 am and he was asleep when I decided. I took about 7 inches off. 🤷‍♀️. I feel much better❣️👏👏👏

I have long hair now but a few years ago I gave myself an extreme 3/4 head shave down to a number 2. I then dyed it Blue. I loved it. The Director of Nurses at my hospital didn’t like it though. I actually had a disciplinary because of it. I felt like a rebel for the first time in my life. I quite like your cut. Nice and choppy. Brave lady.

It's beautiful. I am a big fan of any DIY, useful things! I tried the "Wolf" hair cut. As i needed to trim, & re-style my hair, at a time when i couldn't go to my older beloved neighbourhood, where my ex. Hairdresser used to be. So, i watched some DIY vids, by amateurs, because this is what would fit me more, & it ended up very well! I made a very good job by myself! I was so proud, & happy! And yes, as you said: it's very liberating! It was very satisfying for my! Thank you for the wonderful video.

I cut my hair durung covid because my hairdresser closed. I evenly section front & back with elastics, cut the bult of the hair, then use the buzzer to get it flush with the elastics. A little trim here & there and it's come out pretty good every time. I'm OCD so i mess with it once a week lol along with waxing my own everything because again during covid place that threaded my brows closed, place that waxed legs, pits & you know were closed so i saved a lot of money doing it myself. I've bought so much equipment that i probably will continue doing my own & my nails i love doing myself. The possibilities are endless.

I actually saw Coco Chen's video you referenced just before this one. haha I've done this sort of thing before & always end up with pretty decent results. I've saved a lot of money that way. Yours looks good!

It’s risky, just be sure to pull pony tail down a bit so it’s horizontal to floor (not up like mine)

I cut my own hair in lockdown , it’s fine if you cut a bit at a time and take it slowly , also don’t freak out if you make a mistake , it WILL grow back 🤣. It’s a lot easier if you have curly hair as mistakes don’t show up so much as on straight hair . I thought you did good 😊

Oh for sure, and I probably wouldn't have been completely happy either 🤦 can't believe I used to pay $300+ for my hair cuts and highlights in Tokyo 😂 they did give an amazing shampoo and head massage though 😜

Yes, because we are professionals. We are educated and are required to pass a state exam. We also do continuing education, which isn’t free. We do this so we can offer you the best services. We usually work 10 hours a day (on our feet constantly) we skip lunch to get people in because someone always calls with a crisis, like these home haircuts. We work most holidays that normal people have off. We don’t have job benefits, no paid vacation or health insurance. We do it because we love doing hair. What we don’t love is ignorant people making comments like this when you have no idea what we sacrifice to be available for our clients . And yes we like to be paid for what we do! How would you feel if someone told you that you are being paid to much?

@@tammyleeman2585 you deserve every penny you get! we all have different budgets and different ideals. i have paid for some pretty less-than-ideal haircuts, and "you get what you pay for" is probably spot on here, since I'm on a tight budget and go to the more affordable walk-in kinda places. pandemic has taught me to let go of expectations, just have fun, it's just hair for me and i can DIY at home for free and give some entertainment to the world a the same time. why not :P but i definitely appreciate professionals like you doing what you do!! especially with how hard lock down and all this has been on you financially, i'm sure!! maybe one day i'll decide to take this to the next level and actually go to school for it... *maybe*...

Oh it's a big "happy accident" mix of grown out highlights, a red semi permanent, and a blue semi permanent that had been done months apart and very faded 😅

I currently have longish blondy hair ...it's about 22" or more. But it's getting scraggy. I had short hair from being a teenager then I grew it back in . But am soo tempted to cut it . But I need to cut it to neck level to still wear a ponytail or Clip it back... because I don't like it down 24,7 either. Looks nice 👍
