I love your power electronics video series. I'd say they are the cleanest and the most well organized ones on youtube. Do some more power electronics videos on Flyback regulators, Charge pumps, and cockroft walton multipliers. Something else I really like to see is AM radio (Transmission and Receiving).

This is exactly what I needed. I also have made solar panel, but want to charge lipo battery. It still does not reach the required voltage on cloudy days and I will need step up converter then. This video helped me greatly as now I have an idea how to make feedback to control the voltage (as I don't know what output my panel will give at any given time). I am super beginner, so I will surely have lots of glitches on my way to success, but this is great video for general concept and tips.

Obrigado pela mensagem. O site já está pronto, a estrutura dele, eu só não coloquei no ar ainda pois ainda não fechei todo o conteúdo para lançar. What code did you use for the feedback voltage to maintain a consistent output voltage? did you use the PWM duty cycle-ouput voltage relationship to generate a sustained output voltage?

What (besides the load on the output circuit) determines the amperage of the output? Would it be the inductance? Also how would one calculate this? Thanks

How many ohmes of resistance do you need and would the calapsing magnetic field of the inductor act like a jammer

Did you guys know that the hydraulic analogy for this type of boost converter is a *RAM pump!* Google RAM pump and see how they work. Instead of inductance and the flyback effect electric systems use, RAM pumps use the "water hammer" effect, which is perfectly analogous to the flyback effect!

Revi M Fadli you can arrange the components of a RAM pump to create a "buck converter" although its not very useful unless you need to convert a high pressure but low flow-rate source of water into a low pressure high(er) flow rate source without an active pump.

Hello GreatScott! Do you know how to make a frequency generator with a ne555? I think it's a good project because they are a bit expensive and i'm shure we can have the same result with little composants like variable resistors, lcd screen ,capacitors, ne555 and others :D

I use these A LOT in battery charging applications. Would be fun to build one - mostly because the biggest one I could find was the DROK one on amazon that apparently does 900W. Not really. I was hoping to use one to charge the battery on my scooter (12S LiHV, max charge of 52.2V). The 900W one I got from DROK can handle only 3 amps at that voltage. Weak. It also hums a lot when charging at that voltage and amperage. I found this video fascinating because I'd love to build one of these to give me at least 6 amps at 52.2V. I haven't read your instructions yet that you mentioned in the video (I plan on it) but is there enough info in there to where it is obvious what components I would need to change to get to higher voltages and amps?

hello. I enjoy your all of videos . I am wondering if I could use this to base a large DC boost stage for a inverter. one big enough to run my off grid home. like 6kw minimum. from most likely 24vdc. if I'm correct I need to boost to 170vdc. to get 120vac once inverted to ac. I think I have the spwm output stage figured out. I am self taught and new to this. but I'm trying . would this be better than a push pull boost circuit? as far as efficiency? I know a push pull will require a very large transformer. and run at a lower Hz. but the ppl selling inverters say low frequency is better for starting motors. if you could give any advice or help I would be very thankful. and the over shoot when loads are disconnected. and sags when connected. is there a way to improve the regulation of the output? would that be in code. or is it the microcontroller? can it be fixed with a better or faster microcontroller? thanks again.

GreatScott! nice You Tube videos, very informative. I am trying to build a 18650 pack for LED strip lighting and a battery backup for CPAP. for the LED lighting I need 3hr run time at 12v 5amp. I am thinking a 10 cell pack will work. is it better to boost from 3.7 volts, or buck? should I be close to the input voltage I need ? for the CPAP I need 24v at 3.75 amp but I am figuring it will be 2-2.5 as I will not be using the heated hose and humidifier. I am thinking a 40 cell pack 1 need 16hr run time. I was thinking to try and offset it with a solar charger so I only need 8 hour run time (for camping.) should I use a BMS as well or just some sort of low voltage protection circuit. it would be very helpful if I could get some feedback / help with my project. thanks.

I designed a very crude boost converter controlled by an Arduino. It was functionally useless and very unstable, but it worked. It was cool as a proof of concept.

When you start wondering about something, search it up on RU-vid while at work, watch 10 seconds without sound and like the video to be able to find it again when you come home.

Does the boost converter aim for a specific voltage, or a certain multiple of the input voltage?
