Very well planned out. Nice job. We are fixing to build one with a older much smaller cargo. Thank you for sharing it is super nice. Ours is a 5 x 8. Do not laugh but it is all we need. I am putting a potty in it, and we are putting a shower, but it will be with a cassette toilet. Putting a two-burner stove and sink in front so we can cook if the weather is bad. I can stand up in it, my husband has to bend a bit. We have a run-away now but found when husband got ill on camping trip, we needed to be able to get in and out and it was a problem. I love the runaway camper, I had to break it down and hook to car and drive it home. It was easy. Its why we are going smaller so if I have to drive it home ever again I can. Also, we do not want the weight we only have a six cylinder. Am subbing your channel. Tell people also to know the camp sight number, and how to get there. Write it down. Peace!

Don, the job you did on the construction side of this series was absolutely AWESOME. However, it seems that you are equally talented in the video production aspect of your channel. I enjoyed the "fades" and the text additions which made the viewing that much more enjoyable. As a licensed general contractor, I can appreciate the attention to detail that you demonstrated both in your craftsmanship with the construction of the camper, but also in the video production. Congratulations on the completion of a project well done! keep the project videos coming!

Hot Damn, Don! What a great build. Congratulations. I almost skipped to the next video when I saw the barn doors with AC vent, but when I saw that you can actually put a motorcycle in there, this quickly became one of my most favorite builds on RU-vid. So much useful stuff in such a tight little package. Masterful. Cheers.

Nice build and videos sir. I realize when you are a DIY'er, that cost and savings aren't always the underlying reasons for a build, but have you estimated your cost for this build outside of your labor?
@donsdoityourself2547

I kept track of costs. It was roughly $11k. I don't know what to compare that to since it I unique... but like you said, it was not so much about saving money (although I am sure I saved alot) as it was about getting exactly what I want.

The axle is a 5,200lb straight axle. Standard is a drop axle which is lower. I do plan to flip (underslung) the straight axle to get about 3.5 more inches. When the stock tires wear out, I am getting some all terrain tires with the lift.

@donsdoityourself2547
@donsdoityourself2547 3 года назад
Dana, you are looking at dried wood glue that pooled during the build. Also, I have a piece of vinyl flooring on the AC shelf that would contain any condensation leaks and then pass the water down the side where it would be easily detected on the floor. Rigjt now, all the condensation is properly drained from the pan through a hose that goes out through the floor.

@donsdoityourself2547
@donsdoityourself2547 2 года назад
Todd, I went smaller so I could get into more remote places. Almost stuck several times in this woods with 7x18. It does not track directly behind the truck and I cannot turn it around when a trail dead-end. The 6x12 tracks so if the truck makes it, the trailer does, and I can do a U turn rather easy with the 6x12 and if needed, I could unhitch and drag it around and reconnect. It is a trade off, but I keep both and take the one best for the intended trip.
