The reason one leg is longer than the other on the staple, is so you can start one leg first, then sink it. But my question is, why can't you just pull the trigger on the drill and drill the hole, instead of pumping 15 or 20 times? I understand the pumping when starting the angled holes, but once they are started, I just pull the trigger until it finds the other hole. Am I doing it wrong?

Yours was the best video I came across on how to make carpenter bee traps. You have a great idea in making two at a time so you can more safely bevel the ends, I'm gonna make me a 4x4x8 worth. And I never heard of scribbing with a finger to measure as you mark a line on a piece of wood, either. I had a bunch of great pointers,

The bees fly up to the top and find there way out. I've seen them in the jar and I see them fly out the same way they got in. hmmm not sure if it's me or the carpenter bees in Colorado

Do not use pressure treated at the Bees can smell the chemicals and will not go in the holes.

They might not prefer it, but they will go into pressure treated wood also.

It doesn't work. all the videos of the bees down at the bottom in a death agony is because they were sprayed with Permethrin, then put in the jar otherwise they would just be trapped and flying around

I'm anxious to try your 4-way bee trap, made one very similar about 4 years back. They are very effective! You did a good job of explaining how to make it. Very entertaining.
