DIY Chainsaw Attachment

Some of your projects are super great the way you design and don’t cut corners. Most people would have used a bolt through a pipe instead of bearings. I love your videos. Stay safe

I made something like this to speed up the branch clean up from a big maple two years ago. Wish I had a trailer like yours to drop the cut offs into instead of having to pick up off the ground. Enjoy watching your vids. Keep them coming please.

Oh my god you're genius bro awesome creativity, i would like to make this chainsaw attachment it would be more helpful for my pappa !! but unfortunately i don't have machineries&tools like lathe,welding machines and so on.however i have stihl ms 250 chainsaw 😁.my father is a timber man,when get free time(after college time) i used to go for help my father in his working site. Now im graduated and free.feeling happy to see this video and thank you for sharing creative&very useful technique.... 🙏

Put that holder on a rail so you first fill up the front of the box and then work your way to the rear. Save throwing cut pieces up to the front to fill the box.

Nice! Maybe you can make a pedal for chainsaw controlling. When you step on the pedal you rev up the engine and when you tilt the pedal then the saw will cut. So you can use both hands. Pedal is on the ground, connected with car brake cables so you are able to move around. Or it will do both at the same time when you step on it. Then only one cable needed.

Tow hands make a marvelous job, but don't forget the genius brain control them Good job

Nice job but I always found it more labor intensive to haul the wood to the saw, rather than the saw to the wood.

You did a good job building that my back didnt hurt watching this video. Also less chance getting you chain in the dirt and actually it would make less wasted cuts from branches I know I pass up alot of branches but if the cut a waist height might not pass them up now

Nice job as always, you could make it foot activated so all you have to worry about is holding the logs in place, just a thought but once again great job

One ingenious way of emptying the scrap tray! You should patent this contraption.

If it were me I would also make an end stop that clamps over the wooden side of the trailer, and so you can move it along to set a end stop so all the logs are pretty much the same lengths without thinking, although I can see that you did a very good job of cutting them all the same anyway. And as other suggested a foot pedal would also be a cool addition to make it easier to control.

Really nice... -Is the locking wing nut not long ? you didn't poke in it with your waist ? -Do you think a rail on the trailer's length,or just an other pole in the middle of the trailer could be beneficial,to avoid to move the log,once cut ? You could adjust the chainsaw's position along the trailer, to cut the log and let if fall in the trailer in one motion,for each stack ?

It is a nice design I still think I'd be faster bucking it freehand but if you can get the lumber straight enough and extend your table that holds it I can see it going a lot faster

You need to put a stop on the bed so that it's easier to get the logs the same length, even if it's just a "C-clamp" clamped to the edge of the bef.

Great job in general. Of course after seeing it in action. I wondered why not just pivot the saw on a single extended nut like you machined? Cut the flats into a shaft and internally thread. Done

Kept the chain out of the dirt for sure.

Nice design and build! If you can, try a battery-powered chainsaw instead of gas. That's what I use now for all limbing and smaller work; its quiet and doesn't waste fuel and bar oil when I prep a limb or move stuff around. Regards.

I think it needs some sort of a foot pedal for operations so that both hand are free to work the branches

Great idea- could you move the mount toward the front of the trailer eliminated the need to move the wood forward?

Another good piece of design and engineering , simple and effective , a one shot deal for firewood , saves hauling it back then having to cut it at home , excellent job . Keep up the good work . When are you going to do the small excavator your father gave you , will be looking forward to see the resto on that .

That’s a great design. Just wondering if you were left handed. I Guess it could be designed to mount to the other side of the trailer and the log cradle mounted so to use your right hand for the trigger pull. Thanks for the video. That’s also a nice looking trailer.

Nice job Donn. I was a little concerned about how close you got to the chainsaw bar. Is it possible to make a bar shield that will protect you from contact with the bar and yet stay out of the way when you cut the logs? Also do you dry your logs before burning to increase your heat return per log when burnt?
